I'm Poor.

Today was VERY interesting. As I posted earlier my dad & I went car hunting, we drove to a bunch of dealerships & found nothing.  We also looked at the cars I posted.  The Ford Focus & Hyundai Accent were total busts. The Mustang was okay, but it wasn't worth what they wanted.

BUT...the Cobalt was PERFECT, I loved everything except for the price. After talking, Dad & I decided to buy it. I wasn't expecting to buy a car today but that dealership sells cars WAY below Blue Book value so if we waited someone else would have scooped it up.

After everything it is going to cost around $8,400 & as of right now I only have $5,500. My parents are paying for the rest & I'm paying them back when I can. This means that all the money I've made this summer will be GONE. By the end of this month I should have enough to pay off the car and then start building up my money again. No idea how I'll pay for gas though, unless I pay my parents back slower.

They are just going to clean it up, do some safety checks and fix up everything and I'll be getting it sometime next week!
Sadly, this means no buying ANYTHING for at least a few months. So I can't work on my wardrobe. At least it will force me to find new ways to wear what I already own. I might sell a few of my Potter items on eBay, but I can't bear to part with them. Maybe some of the clothes I don't wear too. I should start a donation drive ;) (just kidding...ha ha)

Sorry for the long post, but I needed to get all that out ;)

  2. CONGRATS! Doesn't it feel amazing to drive off in your new car? I've only had my Hyundai Accent for a week now and I'm loving it.

  3. Don't be too upset...the car is a great investment! You'll fill up for gas a lot less frequently with this car! Saving money is so hard, but you can do it. I know how you feel!

  7. Oh man, when I bought my car, I was broke too. And get this...the day I brought home my gorgeous white mustang...someone smashed into it. It was a hit and run, no note, cost me a fortune to get fixed (I needed a whole new door!)

Congrats on getting the car, though! It's nice to have a car that's completely paid off.

  8. First, congrats on your purchase! Second, though it took all of your money, it is a car you can be proud of and it is very cute. Quite the accessory I might add =)

I think your parents are aware that it will take some time for you to repay them and will be understanding that there are other costs associated with the car (such as gas and fuzzy dice) that will take a wee bit of the money you are earning for the remainder of the summer. Keep your head up, you've got a fine set of wheels!

ps: I got your package =)

  13. Lovely car, although what a bummer that you won't be able to buy anything new! I am so picky and slow at buying super expensive things because I know I don't have the ability to not spend, so I admire that!

  24. Congrats on the new car! I know exactly how you feel! I have totally been exactly where you are. When I bought my car I had to borrow money from aunt for the down payment and even after empying out ALL my savings...but, in the end there is NOTHING like having YOUR VERY OWN CAR!! It's a great feeling! And kudos to you for buying the car cash! I actually financed my car and I still have a year left to pay on it! at the time it seemed like a better option to finance because it didn't require as much money up front, but in the long term you will be so happy that you don't have a car payment!

  25. Congrats to you on the car!! Even though it seems like hell to pay that off, the freedom you'll get will make it worth it. Here's to reworking the wardrobe and shopping in your closet just for a bit...gf if you part with your harry potter's you'll be traumatized!!
