I'm a month late in posting this, but better late than never! I wore this on a very spontaneous day trip to Rhode Island for Valentine's Day. Long story short, Christian had a last minute video shoot for work in Newport so I tagged along and worked from the car while he was on location. Then we got to enjoy a nice Valentine's dinner in Newport. Only the second time in our six Valentine's Days together that we went out on the actual day. We like to avoid the crowds and higher prices, haha! The other time was our first Valentine's Day when I visited him in Missouri.

The morning started off very windy but by the afternoon it was nice and not super cold. Perfect for walking along Thames Street. We ended up having a late lunch/early dinner at Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant when Christian was done with work. Both our meals were very tasty and the inside of the restaurant was really fun! We almost ate at The Red Parrot, but since that's one of our usual spots we decided to mix it up.

Whenever my family and I go to Rhode Island we always take a few hours to go to Newport and check out all the stores and have a meal. The weather is usually hit or miss when we go because we don't want to waste a perfect beach day. This trip we had a good first hour and a half and after we finished lunch we were hit with some rain.  Because it was a cooler morning I was able to wear longer pants with a swingy camisole.

We took these photos outside our lunch spot, The Red Parrot. The whole family really loves this restaurant so it's usually where we stop while we're in Newport. We also had a group of 10 this year so most of the other restaurants on our walking route were too small to accommodate.  This time I decided to try something different than my usual fish and chips or blackened fish. I got the Red Chili Chicken and Coconut Shrimp and it was DELICIOUS. Other meals the family had were the Mandarin Coconut Chicken, Lobster "Rock n' Roll" (but with butter sauce,) Coconot Shrimp, French Dip, Blackened Mahi Sandwich and Lobster Nachos. Everything was really good with healthy sized portions.

We also like to stop at Armory Antique Marketplace to check out all the crazy old collectibles and jewelry. This year I behaved and didn't buy anything new, although I was tempted by rings as usual (I bought an adorable owl ring there a couple years ago.)

And here are some photos of our food at The Red Parrot.

Back to vacation posts, but don't worry, we're almost done. On Thursday (meaning July 25th) it was cold and rainy, so we decided to go to Newport since the beach was obviously going to be freezing. I always look forward to visiting Newport, the cute stores, fun buildings and looking at all the boats.  We walked around for a couple hours and had lunch at  The Red Parrot, I highly recommend it, SO delicious! I had fish and chips and it was my favorite of the week (I had fish & chips 3 times, it would have been more but I decided I should eat some other food too.)

Song of the Day: Summer Love by Neil Diamond

Sweater: Ralph Lauren (GoodWill), Jeans: Current/Elliott (sample sale), Sandals: Seychelles (DSW), Purse: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage & Mom's

My all time favorite store in Newport is Geoclassics. Ever since I was little I've been fascinated by all the fun pieces. They have minerals, fossils and gemstone jewelry. I never leave the store empty handed - this year I got an amazing ammonite pendant, mine came from Madagascar but they have them from multiple locations. I almost got a larger pair that I would have put on display but it was $150 (you can see some here.)
