Last Thursday I was invited to a blogger/media dinner at Jack's Steakhouse in New Haven.  Jack's opened in October 2017 in the heart of New Haven. It's close to theaters and Yale so you will have a lot to do before and after your meal. There is even a special Bistro Room where you can seat up to 56 guests for an event. Monday through Saturday they have a 2-course prix fixe lunch for $21. We were there on Thursday night so we got to enjoy live music from a local musician.

It was a little warmer that day so I was able to go sans coat (sans sweater too, but I wanted an extra element to my look.) I've been wanting to wear this snakeskin blouse for a while since it doesn't get as much love as it should and this seemed like the perfect occasion! It was dark by the time Lydia and I were ready for photos so please excuse the use of flash.

Cardigan: J.Crew (Roundabout), Top: Jason Wu snakeskin pussy-bow blouse (Roundabout), Jeans: Free People flares (Marshalls), Boots: 3.1 Phillip Lim 'Peggy' in patent leather and pony-hair (Barney's Warehouse), Bag: Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Sac D'Epaule (HauteTrader)

On to the food at Jack's Steakhouse. We enjoyed a 4 course meal and got to sample a bunch of different dishes family style. As one would expect from bloggers, once the plates arrived we all spent a few minutes lighting the table with our phones so we could get photos of the food.

My personal favorites were the Beet Salad, Bourbon Glazed Pork Belly Chunks, Curry Cauliflower and Porterhouse steak. The Beet Salad came with roasted red and golden beets, baby kale, pumpkin seeds and maple syrup vinaigrette. It also comes with a goat cheese croquette, which I did not sample (I'm a weirdo who hates cheese on most foods.) The pork belly chunks were roasted for 3 hours and were made with bourbon, brown sugar, salt and teriyaki sauce. The cauliflower was in a delicious curry sauce that added so much flavor. Finally, the Porterhouse steak was 44oz of wet aged beef and was soooooo tasty! I definitely had more than a few slices of that.

It's slowly starting to get warmer out there (except for yesterday's huge snowstorm!,) but we keep having cold days where I want to wear a nice big sweater. For this throwback my toes get a little sun because it wasn't THAT cold out. And I added my Louis Vuitton bag because I thought the orange went nicely with the deep purple. Definitely a more fall color palette than Spring, but most of my clothes are fall-colored anyway. That's what happens when you love purple and burgundy, haha.

The Original:

I wore this on a random shopping outing with my parents. We started at Roundabout so my mom could check out their sale, then it was off to Home Goods to look at furniture, then BJs for some groceries. Such an exciting morning, right?!

Cardigan: J.Crew 'Harlow' Star print cardigan, Cashmere Turtleneck: Vince, Jeans: Everlane "The High-Rise Skinny Jean" in Mid-Blue, Flats: Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats (Shopbop), Bag: Dark Purple ChloƩ Faye (eBay), Necklace: Marrin Costello

There are so many problems with this outfit post. But I hate waste and I was too lazy to put it back on and retake the photos. Ha ha. It was SUPER sunny so my Dad and I tried to take photos with me standing in the shade but for some reason they came out extra dark. I did my best to brighten them but they were beyond repair. I'm also wearing my bag backwards...GAH! But now you get a nice look at the back.

Blazer: Evan Picone (hand-me-down from Christine), Sweater: Anthropologie, Jeans: J Brand 'Mid Rise Photo Ready Super Skinny Jean' (Gilt), Chelsea Boots: Miu Miu (Roundabout), Bag: Dark Purple ChloƩ Faye (eBay), Sunglasses: Chanel, Glasses chain: Tinksky (Amazon)

As I've posted many times before, this sweater is one of my favorite "Shop the boys department" pieces. I loved this sweater when I first saw it in the Neiman Marcus x Target lookbook and the fact that it was for men made no difference. In the end I had to buy a size medium in the boys department because that was all I could find, but I like the cropped look that gives it. And I get a little confidence boost knowing I can still fit into kids clothes.

These boots will also forever be my favorite giveaway win. I have won my fair share of blog giveaways over the years but these have gotten the most wear out of all the things I have won. The perfect rain (or just gloomy weather) boot.

Sweater: Rag & Bone Boys for Neiman Marcus x Target, Tee: Cullen (Rue La La), Jeans:  Free People (Gilt Groupe), Rain Boots: dƤv, Watch: Michael Kors, Bag: Dark Purple ChloĆ© Faye (eBay)

Starting very soon I won't be able to buy as many pieces of clothing as I've become accustomed to. So it's a good thing I got a head start this month and didn't add anything new to my closet. And I've gotten this far so I might as well try to give up clothes shopping for Lent this year, right? One month to go!

UPDATE: Okay, I lied. I just got back from a quick lunch break trip to Roundabout because they were having their blowout sale (80% off clothes + shoes and an additional 20% off clearance). I ended up walking out with a $348 Robert Rodriguez dress for $16.80! Still going to try to go through all of March with no buying though.

I wore this over the weekend to do some shopping with my parents. It was almost Spring-like weather so I decided to wear my new Franco Sarto mules before they'll have to go away for a few more weeks once this warm snap disappears. For their first outing I went with a monochromatic blue outfit and threw on a faux fur vest for an extra layer since it was windy.

Sweater: Alice + Olivia (Roundabout), Vest: Simply Vera Wang c/o Kohl's, Corduroys: abercrombie, Suede Mules: Franco Sarto 'Dolly (DSW), Bag: Dark Purple ChloƩ Faye (eBay)
