{recap} French Wardrobe Challenege - May

I'm at the halfway point for the French Wardrobe Challenge. It is definitely a lot easier than I thought it would be, but still hard. I can still go shopping and not buy anything, it is only painful on certain occasions when I see something awesome but don't want it to be one of my "five" so I have to leave it. It also helps that I don't have to count items I buy for Marshalls Project Fab.  But half of the items I have bought are basics so they wouldn't have counted anyway.  I'm still a bit unsure if I made the right choice in buying this printed skirt, but I like it and it's fun so even if I only wear it a few times I guess it's worth it.

This was a good month for jewelry. I bought one House of Harlow necklace at a South Moon Under event, then one was in my goody bag and I won two others through their Instagram contest! How does it get any better than that? I was also bad and bought a pair of Phillip Lim boots, but they're a basic and were on super sale.

THE RULES
  1. Just five standout pieces per season.
  2. Quality over quantity.
  3. Basics don’t count.
  4. Accessories don’t count, unless you’re spending a lot more than usual.
  5. Socks and underwear don’t count.
  6. Shoes do count.
MY PROGRESS

Part of my Five:
Basics:
Accessories:
Exempt:  Not counting any items I got from brands or bought for Marshalls Project FAB (bought with a gift card)

  1. You've done really well! I think you'll probably get more wear out of that skirt than you think right now - it's really great.

  4. I LOVE those shoes!

I think the skirt was a fun piece to try. If anything, it'll force you to mix and match it. Or, if you're like me and have already bought four of her five, then you just go to six items and call it a "learning experience." ;-)

  5. You definitely made out at South Moon Under, and I still think the snake skirt was a good buy.
Are you keeping the Joie Dress after all?

  8. You've got a lot of great items! I'm glad that the challenge is helping you when you're considering purchases - i find having a goal to work towards helps when I'm shopping, rather than just buying things as they are cute or on sale. Although sometimes I'm distracted by the price/cuteness, I'm trying to justify my purchases more up front.

  11. You're doing remarkably well with the challenge! This is something that I need to do. In the past I've been such an impulsive buyer but am doing much better these days with only buying a few items. Still guidelines like your challenge would be a great idea to ensure I definitely stay on track! You've definitely inspired me.

Those black boots are gorgeous and such a long term investment piece.
