I almost made a purchase this month but as of right now (Thursday the 30th) I haven't bought any clothes in July. Success! The purchase I almost made will still be happening, I'm just patiently waiting to see if it (or they...) go cheaper in Net-a-Porter's sale. Refreshing the product page every few hours to make sure it doesn't go to "low stock," if so I'll just buy!

I made a bit of extra money this month from a small side project and some of my RewardStyle income cleared. That is what will be used to make the purchase mentioned above.

I took advantage of a Shopbop promo earlier this month for an extra 25% off sale. I scored a beautiful Ba&sh Paris dress to wear to my brother's wedding. I'm not usually one for long dresses but I felt the occasion called for it and this dress popped out at me while I was perusing the dress section. I almost didn't buy it because it was a bit pricey but since I was using gift cards I decided to treat myself!  It's sold out on Shopbop now but you can still get it Ba&sh website or Farfetch. For sizing I bought a 2/Small, which is my usual. I'm fairly short (about 5'2") and it drags a teeny bit with the 3.5" heels I want to wear with it.

There's only so much isolation a girl can take before she shops online. I was doing so well at resisting the urge. But then at the end of last month I got an email from eBay. A seller offered me a discount on a sweater I'd been following for a while. For those of you that are longtime blog readers you'll remember when I DIYed a Burberry owl sweater. To this day I still have an eBay alert setup for "Burberry owl" because I couldn't get the real thing out of my mind. A month or two ago I found this one and followed it knowing I probably wouldn't buy it. Long story short - I bought it. See this post for more.

I also used my Shopbop partnership money for some purchases. I wanted a new pair of leggings for when I eventually get out hiking or walking (still holding out hope for our camping trip for the 4th of July, but I doubt that will happen due to mandatory quarantines upon entering Vermont.) I also ordered a cute pair of Madewell shorts on sale for $35 in a rusty pink since I just have denim and green/beige khaki shorts at the moment. Finished off the order with 3 of the same necklace - one for Mom for Mother's Day and then one for my sister and I so we could all match.

Another eBay purchase ended the month of excessive purchasing. I've been searching for a Stella McCartney cat print blouse for a friend and in the process I found these awesome leopard print jeans! I got the seller down to $80 and had some ad money to cover most of the purchase! Brand new with tags too!

I received 2 pieces from a brand last month and was waiting to share them until this month since I was supposed to do a blog post featuring them. However, that post has now been postponed due to COVD-19. It will probably be a bit before you see them in an outfit post and I wanted to share them! AUrate is still shipping items with a very stringent policy on how to keep everything safe.

It was a big shopping month in terms of items added to my closet. Luckily the out of pocket cost wasn't large. As I shared earlier this month, I finally took the leap and replaced my Ray Ban Erika sunglasses with part of my Shopbop partnership credit. I also bought a few new things for the warmer weather during their Spring Event.

Long story about another purchase below:

I ran some errands with my mom earlier in the month and we stopped at DSW. I tried on a few pairs of breathable, thin sneakers (because I don't own any) and liked a pair by Sperry but they were $65. It's really hard for me to find sneakers I like because they all feel too bulky. I don't mind that in the case of my crazy custom Nike ID's but those aren't really athletic wear, more of a fashion statement. There's also my purple Puma's but those aren't exactly versatile either.

When I got home I added them to my cart and searched for some coupon codes and found a 20% off plus a $10 reward I had. Then my mom offered me the rest of a gift card she had so they came out to under $15! I'd say that's worth a purchase! I was hoping to wear them to Disney in May (one of the activities we're doing requires closed toe, walk-able shoes) but I fear that trip will be cancelled due to COVID-19.

April will definitely be very light on the shopping because of our stay safe at home orders. I am trying not to buy anything unnecessary that will put more pressure on postal/package workers.

Nothing new this month. There was almost a splurge purchase (that I've been saving for) but during the authentication process it was deemed a fake. Such a shame, but to be honest I kind of knew it was going to be fake and was holding on to a glimmer of hope.

I almost bought a couple things from Shopbop, but I'm holding out to see if something more expensive comes along that I'd rather use my gift cards on.

I am still seriously considering using some to replace my Ray-Ban Erika sunglasses with a non-rubberized frame version because mine somehow got ruined over the Summer. The frames were all sticky and then when we tried to clean them it ruined the lenses.  Luckily the first pair was also free from doing a post a number of years ago.

A new year, a clean slate for my wardrobe updates! This year I'm going to try to shop even less than last year, but I was pretty good in 2019 so not sure that's possible. It's so hard for me to not shop because it's what I love to do, but knowing I have a mortgage (and trips to save for) makes it a bit easier. It also helps that I've had a couple slow work months so disposable income has been slightly lower than I'm used to. YUCK!

Luckily I still have gift cards from my Shopbop partnership to help when I just can't stop the urge to shop. I'm trying to hold out for pieces I know will last for years to come. So far I've only purchased this Splendid top in their big sale last year.

That being said, I did add something to my closet this month. I've been looking for a pair of medium wash jeans to replace one of my favorite pairs by FRAME (I feel a hole coming on, NOOO!) I was hoping to get another FRAME pair but when Gilt gave me a $25 "we miss you" credit and free shipping there was a pair by J Brand for about $25 less than the pair by FRAME. I also had enough in PayPal from ad revenue that covered the rest. (Meaning if I bought the FRAME pair I would've paid $27 out of pocket instead of them being free. And free is best)

Well, we made it. My final wardrobe update for 2019! I did a pretty good job this year at not spending too much on clothes. I still bought a few things I haven't worn much (the blazers) but I love them all the same.  I still have to wear the black polka dot dress from Joie but I think I have an appropriate occasion coming up so stay tuned!

The champion of my 2019 spending is my Autumn Cashmere sweater. It's only been on the blog 4 times but I've worn it much more than that since buying it in January. The mark of a good wardrobe item is if it brings you joy and this sweater does that. Every time I wear it my mood is instantly lifted!

I got a few clothing items as gifts for Christmas this year and that's all I added to my closet!

Happy day after Thanksgiving! I hope all my American readers had a great holiday and ate lots of turkey (or no turkey if you're vegetarian!)

This month I added a few pieces to my closet but paid $0 out of pocket! Love when that happens.  Last week Everlane surprised me with a $20 credit and since I couldn't decide between two pairs of jeans ($30 difference in price, haha) I decided to just go for a plain v-neck tee.

I also bought a couple things during Shopbop's Buy More, Save More sale with my store credit from my partnership with them. They should arrive on Monday, hopefully they both fit or I'll be sending them back....sad. It took me HOURS to decide what to get. Funny how even when something is "free" you second guess all your decisions. I had so many things in my cart and Christian helped me whittle it down to boots and a sweater. I'll be on the lookout for a few of the other things I wanted to actually go on sale (more than the 20% off I would have gotten if I bought 4 of the things I wanted)

I still haven't made my Net-a-Porter sale purchase but I will probably buy something next month at the end of the sale.  Right now I have about $75 in Paypal thanks to Ibotta and Survey Junkie and should have a payment from RewardStyle on the way as well. That'll help soften the blow if/when I splurge on something.

UPDATE: Sadly had to return the boots as they were a lot chunkier than I expected and I didn't like how they looked on my feet.

UPDATE: I should never pre-write these a week before the month is over. I made a couple purchases in last few days. One hasn't arrived yet so I'll include it next month.

I made a DSW purchase with a bunch of store credits and coupons. I bought a pair of purple suede Sam Edelman sandals which will hopefully replace my current pair that is slowly disintegrating (they're SUPER old.) Sadly they don't make the exact same style anymore but this one is similar.  I also bough a cute pair of black flats to take advantage of a 25% off 2 pairs deal and wound up essentially getting those free after my $10 and 2 $5 credits. My purchase also got me a free backpack so I think I did pretty well.

UPDATE 2: I decided to add this to October since it arrived on November 1st! As I was preparing a blog post for a wedding look I wore, I came across a dress I've been wanting since 2012 (the blog proof) for $32 on eBay. I followed it and the next day the seller sent an offer of $25 for it, so I HAD to get it after texting a couple friends for the nudge I needed - aka confirmation that it was a good purchase. I can't remember the retail price from 2012 but I would say it was at least $500.  Unfortunately I found out that Edun went out of business last year, which is such a shame because it was a sustainable brand and promoted artists in Africa. Now I'll cherish my 3 pieces more (and maybe buy some more secondhand if I see anything good)

Original Copy:

I made it through October without shopping! It helps that I had 3 super busy weekends at the beginning of the month so I couldn't really shop in store. I also had less extra money this month thanks to taking half of September off for my honeymoon. (the perils of freelancing and not having paid vacation!) I've been pretty good at resisting online shopping too. I just fill up carts and then abandon them to get the shopping bug out. Anyone else do that or is it just me?

I'm hoping to keep this up through the end of the year, but we'll see if any of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales get me! Or Net-a-Porter's Winter sale...always dangerous when that pops up! I will have some Shopbop money coming in soon thanks to my temporary partnership with them but am not sure if I'll wait until the few months is over to buy something big, or just a few things here and there.

Easing back into the blog after getting back from our honeymoon with my September wardrobe update.  I was gone half the month on our honeymoon so it was pretty easy to not shop - apart from the couple things on my list to buy in Europe.  Luckily I had a surge in blog revenue before we left so that covered what I bought on the trip!

I only intended to buy one pair of Ancient Greek Sandals on my trip but ended up with 2. I bought the first pair in Santorini for 30% off (WOO!) and still had to visit the new Ancient Greek Sandals flagship store in Athens and ended up with a pair there too. But this is the only actual AGS dedicated store so how could I not?  The first pair is part of their yearly limited edition collaboration. This year it was with GAS Bijoux so the sandals have cute little charms on them! The second pair is totally different from what I usually buy because they're slides instead of ones with clasps (I prefer those for walking)

I almost broke down and bought my Gucci Marmont purse in Florence because they had the color I want still in stock (no other stores did.) But I don't have enough saved up yet so I'll keep saving and buy it used once I can. To heal the pain I bought a cute little leather purse at one of those leather shops. Probably not the best quality but it's adorable!

Posting my wardrobe update a little early this month because I have a special post to share later in the week (a little hint in this post!)  Fingers crossed I don't make any new purchases between now and then!

I went to Marshalls earlier in the month not looking to buy anything but randomly stumbled upon a really cute black tiered polka dot dress by Joie. I tried it on "just for fun" and had to buy it because it was 90% off the retail price of $398! My mom thinks it's too dark to wear to my cousin's wedding in October, but I think I might to bring it on my honeymoon next month and dress it down with some flat sandals. I also didn't realize until after I got home that it's like a little black dress version of my wedding dress, so funny! What do we think, should I keep it?

I was able to resist buying things in Roundabout's flash sale where clothes and shoes were 80% off.  It wasn't for lack of trying, though. They had this pair of Mary Katrantzou pants NWT for $46 but they were slightly too tight on me, UGH! And they had the Dior J'adore slingback flats but they were only 10% off, one of the few items not on major sale...OF COURSE. I got all the way to checkout with them only to find out they weren't $120 like I thought but $535.

I had a successful no shopping month! I did buy some nail polish during Net-a-Porter's Flash Beauty Sale but I used advertising money on it so it doesn't count, ha ha. Plus that's beauty, not fashion.  I still haven't bought anything in the Net-a-Porter End of Season Sale, trying super hard to resist so we'll see if I make it through the last couple weeks.

I also have to keep our honeymoon in September in mind. I want to buy another pair of Ancient Greek Sandals while we're in Greece (because 6 pairs isn't enough, ha ha!) and I was hoping to buy something in Italy as well. I won't have enough saved up for my teal Gucci Marmont bag by then so we'll see what I do.

Welp, I had a bad month. I went to Marshall's with my mom intending to just buy a new set of dishes - which I did - and walked out with a new pair of pants and shorts. But I've been wanting more think pants for Summer and another pair of shorts to add to my rotation. Both are linen/tencel blends and super soft!

I was pretty good this month and only bought 1 new thing. Finally bit the bullet and bought that floral camisole dress I mentioned a couple months ago for $7, it didn't arrive yet so hopefully it fits! I've been watching it since last August, so I figure it was a good buy since I couldn't stop thinking about it, ha ha.  I also used advertising money for it so that's good too, it wasn't "real" money. ;)

I did also buy 2 Disney shirts for myself and Christian but I'm not counting those since it's Disney-only or PJ wear. Hercules is one of my favorite Disney movies and they had a Megara and Hercules shirt set for $10 each! They didn't have our exact sizes so mine is a little bit and Christian's is a tiny bit tight, but who cares.

In fun house news, we've been living here for a little over a year now (a year and nice days) and are finally getting around to things we've been wanting to do. We've started our vegetable and herb garden and got natural gas installed on Tuesday! We actually had planned on waiting a couple more years before doing the natural gas conversion but we were forced into early action thanks to an oil tank leak. But we got a super low interest loan (only paying $500 in interest if we pay over the full 10 years) and now we don't have to worry about oil anymore! YAY! Not sure what's next for the house, but we'll start saving up for whatever we want to improve on in the coming years.

Another month gone. This year is going by so quickly! I made it through April without buying any new clothes, yay! It's getting easier to not buy clothes but I still have moments where I want to drop some cash on a piece.  And I am still constantly window shopping, putting things in my cart and then abandoning ship. That's how I get it out of my system. I'm sure I'll buy something new soon to spice up my closet but for now I'm feeling pretty good!

Since I don't have any new clothes to share, it's a perfect day to talk about Paperless Post!  Anagram Interactive contacted me last week to see if I'd like to try out the e-card service with some free coins. I have been curious about Paperless Post for a few years but never bit the bullet and tried it. With Mother's Day approaching I decided to check out their selection of cards for Mom. My Mom will be traveling on Mother's Day so this is a great way to get a card to her.

I chose a fun card for 2 coins, then I added a custom background for an additional coin. I was going to pick a nice wooden background but found a fork and knife that matched the theme of the card and had to go with funny over pretty. The total cost of sending my card will be 5 coins including the envelope and envelope liner at 1 coin each. Coins range in price from .10 to .40 depending on how many you buy at once. Buying 25 coins is $10 and buying 1000 is $100. So if you're sending wedding invitations you'll want to buy your coins in bulk.  Paperless Post does offer free cards but they don't come with anything extra like envelopes or fancy backdrops.

I sent a test to myself to make sure everything will work properly on Mother's Day so now I'm ready to go! I love how even though they aren't "real" cards they still come in an envelope. It makes it so much more fun for the person receiving the email if there's some suspense of opening an envelope involved.  I think I'll also be using this to send birthday cards to friends in the future! So fun and easy and saves the environment since you're not buying a paper card, envelope and shipping it off to someone.

I behaved this month and didn't make any purchases! Go me! I was also successful in wearing 2 of my 3 new purchases from last month. See one outfit here, the other look is coming next week! I would have worn the 3rd item too, but I'm saving it for Easter! Haven't decided if I'll wear it once or style it two ways for both of our Easter celebrations. We'll see.

Fingers crossed that next month I can keep up the no shopping. But I've been following a dress version of my favorite camisole for months on eBay and am thinking of getting it because its only $8 (plus $3 shipping.) Decisions, decisions!

I almost made it through the month without buying any clothes. But then Roundabout sent an email yesterday morning about their winter blowout. 80% off clothes and shoes!! AHH! So I went hoping I wouldn't find anything and I walked out with 3 jackets...whoops!

One is a white blazer which normally isn't my style, because I'm afraid of getting white dirty, but I was drawn to it so now I have to be brave and wear white! Next up is a Sandro Paris burgundy blazer. I've been wanting something from Sandro for quite a few years but could never pull the trigger on anything because they're so pricey. Last is a purple Rag & Bone wool jacket with leather details. I liked it because it's like a blazer but since it's knit that makes it a little more casual.

I'm hoping to get back on track with my no shopping next month, but we'll see! You know I can never pass up an amazing deal if I see one. And I have a $15 credit for The RealReal expiring....

Colors are off a bit in these photos but I took them last night so the lighting wasn't the best. The perils of buying something the day before my wardrobe update is posted!
