Last Sunday Lydia and I went to the RewardStyle Rooftop Party to celebrate fashion week. Lydia and I had fun shooting photos at Lincoln Center (though away from the people) and in the park across the street. Check back tomorrow or Wednesday for some party snaps!

Happy Friday the 13th! I know most people think it's bad luck but I enjoy when the 13th falls on a Friday. What a week it's been! I was a lot more, for lack of a better word, active than usual. Tuesday was the Lucky event and I got home super late so Wednesday was torture (so tired!) Compound that with the fact that I was also in NYC all day Sunday and I was wiped out! Imagine what would have happened if I went to more fashion week events...how do those girls do it! I also made sure to watch my new Star Trek Into Darkness BluRay on Wednesday with my cousins. Oh how I love that movie.
Also, you may have noticed that I've been wearing my Seychelle's sandals quite a bit recently. Too put it simply: 1. They are my most comfortable walking shoes and 2. I've been too lazy to bring shoes to change into.

This past Tuesday I was lucky enough to be invited to an event hosted by Lucky Magazine and Movado watches to celebrate their ESQ One watch, "an eye-catching watch of unisex appeal that’s cool, colorful, fashionable and fun." I'd say that description is about right; I can girl the watch up for myself & my guy friends could borrow it. At the event we got to choose a watch and select from a wide array of bracelets to create an arm party. They even had a candy bar!
I was nervous about going to the event because I didn't know anyone that would be there. Fortunately, I happened to sit near two girls and asked if they were going to the event - turns out they were! An instant bond was formed between myself, Krista and Jackie. Before the event we took some outfit photos (thank goodness for them or I would have none.) Then we headed to the event where I met a bunch of other amazing bloggers including Jen and Tracy! I was very proud of myself for talking to people at the event, normally I'm super quiet and keep to myself.
On to the outfit! I'm wearing my new safari print Madewell tee and my freshly shortened leather skirt (thanks to my mom!) I'm also sporing some new penny loafers gifted from Joie at the RewardStyle party which I will be posting photos from next week! My new (well, a month old now) bag got tons of compliments at the party - gotta love Marshalls for unique on-trend pieces!

It would feel weird to not mention the anniversary of September 11th today. Even though it has been 12 years, it is something that I think about on a regular basis. It's scary how in one moment your whole world can change. But it is also good to remember that we made it through the hard times and recovered from the tragedy. With all the bad we see that our nation can pull together to support one another.

We're in September, so it's okay to talk about Fall style now, right? Well I've had this Tory Burch Fall lookbook bookmarked for a few weeks and thought I would share some of my favorite shots. The styling is spot on and I just love all the pieces! If only they weren't so expensive. I guess I'll just have to drool from afar or find alternatives!
Photo 1. That textured teal coat = perfection (and look at that dude hiding the background)
Photo 2. Everything in this shot needs to join my closet.
Photo 3. Purple, need I say more?
Photo 4. Awesome jackets, cool textures!
Photo 5. Amazing styling

It seems I have been into layering sweaters over dresses lately. First last week, now this week. Ha ha. I wore this last Thursday on my day off to run some errands. We're getting into that nice pre-fall weather where we can wear sweaters and bare legs and be okay most of the time. Such perfect weather if I do say so myself! Luckily, since this is a sweater over a dress I could have taken the sweater off if it suddenly heated up.

Apparently I was into flat sandals and jeans this week. But sometimes I'm just not in the mood to wear a skirt on the train even if it will be hot in the city. I only went into work 2 days this week because of Labor Day and Rosh Hashanah and today I work from home. It was a pretty good week, I got to catch up on my DVRed movies yesterday and had one of my favorite things for lunch - a Duchess hot dog with ketchup and bacon...YUM!
I have some pretty good plans this weekend. Tonight I'm headed to my aunt's for a massage and sleepover. We want to watch the new Star Trek because it's on demand, hopefully we can watch it on their TV, if not we'll find something else. I'm one of those weird people that enjoys hanging out with my family (immediate and extended.) I live with 2 of my cousins after-all ;) THEN on Sunday I'm going to the city with Lydia for a fashion week party! Weee!

What happens when you put Anna Dello Russo, Harry Potter, and Vogue Japan together? MAGIC! In love with this shoot from Vogue Japan's October issue! Obviously I would be, it mixes Potter and fashion.

A couple weeks ago I was getting rid of pieces in my closet and brought them over for my mom and sister to dig through. My mom came up with the brilliant idea of turning this old Hollister dress into a skirt. I love having a mother who sews (she used to make a good portion of my clothes when I was younger.) I wore it REALLY high up here and threw the sweater my Grandmother made on top. But the skirt goes below my knees if I wear it on my actual hips. So now I have a myriad of ways to wear it.
It's always hard to get rid of pieces, even things you never wear anymore. I try to do it gradually but sometimes I do a big wardrobe cull. But sometimes all it takes is a little bit of re-imagining for a piece to find a spot in your wardrobe again. I have to do that with this leather skirt I bought for $10, it's just too long. I want to shorten it so it is more like this Burberry London skirt. First I have to find a tailor and make myself go, ha ha...
