Another month with no clothing purchases. These posts are getting a little boring, no? But I'm going to keep up with them because I think it's good to show that you don't always need to buy new clothes and can shop your own closet. We need to break the fast fashion cycle where people are buying new wardrobes every few months. For most of my later blogging years I have tried to go with the less is more approach and only add items that I know will last. Occasionally I will still buy a crazy piece I'm not sure of just to try it out, but I try to avoid that.

The first month of 2024 is already done, wow! This year I'm not planning on making too many clothing purchases, but I will continue to do my roundups because I can't stop now, ha ha! This will be my TENTH year tracking my clothing spending and it's funny looking back at my older posts where I would spend a couple hundred a month. My first recap post was March 2014 and it was the month I bought my beloved Carven map print dress! I've definitely gotten my $300 worth out of that dress, with lots more more life left in it.

Paragraph added before the end of the month since I prepared this early, haha! Amazon was having a sale on some leggings I like so I used credit card rewards to buy another pair. The first pair I bought was for my runDisney Cheshire Cat outfit.

No new buys this month, but I got a velvet lounge set for Christmas and a Halfday Garment Duffle bag. Yay presents, haha!  Overall this was a very low-buy year and I anticipate next year will be the same. I don't really need any clothes but I'm sure I'll buy something if anything catches my fancy or an item I've been hunting for pops up on the resale market.

I survived the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and didn't buy any new clothes. This has been a very sparse year for additions to my closet. It's probably a good thing since my closet is pretty full as it is. I still have some pieces I need to either consign or sell myself. I just hate the idea of consigning because as a consigner you really don't make much money versus selling yourself on eBay or poshmark. But it makes it so much easier. Struggles.

I bought a few pieces this month thanks to a gift card from a friend. One was a necessity because my current pair of rain boots is flaking off at the top. I tried to buy a replacement last year but they're doing the same thing so I opted for a full rubber pair from Target that are similar in style to what I had. I also bought a new chunky sweater and some pants. The pants are a little longer on me than the model (short girl problems,) so I'm not sure how much I'll wear them, but they are comfortable and will be good when we're back in warm weather.

Another month, another roundup. (I feel like I always start these recaps in the same way, ha ha)  We've mix of purchases and gifted items this month. I won a giveaway and got a new Aurate necklace and received a bag from a brand I am now an affiliate for.  I also fell victim to the Marshalls clearance section when my mom wanted to quickly stop in. Grabbed a couple pairs of shorts for $10. I wore one pair this past weekend and the other pair is coming with me to Disney!

How is it already the end of July?? This month flew by. Before we know it, it will be September. Crazy! But I could definitely do with some slightly cooler temperatures. I haven't even been in the mood to shop because it's so hot. Good for my wallet, I suppose. I could use some more Summer dresses or tanks, but I always revert to my favorite few anyway.

I think this is the longest I've gone without adding to my closet, crazy! I guess that's what happens when you get older, have more self control and less need of clothes (especially if you work from home, ha ha.)

I did receive a pair of sandals in exchange for a post on Instagram and they're already a workhorse. Any time I have to run outside quickly I'll throw them on, I even wear them while cooking dinner for extra support because they're orthotics.

I started this post before I went on my annual camping trip in Vermont and technically I did buy a sweatshirt. Even though it's a "souvenir," I'm going to add it because I'll probably wear it around the house and occasionally on cool Summer evenings.

Another no-spend month. Going strong in 2023, ha ha. I'm sure at some point I'll find something fun to splurge a little on, but for now I'm not really feeling the need for anything. I still have my eye on this colorblock Chloé Alphabet bag, but I don't really need a new bag and it's very pricey. Maybe if it goes on super super sale.

I did recently have to buy a new clothes rack for my closet, though. Right before we left for our Missouri trip in April my dress rack finally broke (it's been on the edge for a while) and my other double rack was also slightly broken so it was finally time to buy something more sturdy. I went with this white clothing rack that has two sections for longer clothes and a middle section with two rods for tops and skirts/shorts. Now almost everything in my closet room is white. I still have an old wooden baby changing table that my Mom used for me & my siblings that I use as a dresser, I may paint it some day but that's a lot of work, ha ha. (see it in this post)

Realized I forgot to do my April wardrobe update! I guess that's what happens when you leave for a month-long trip in the middle of the month, ha ha! No purchases in April apart from a couple Disney shirts & a hoodie that I don't actually count in these because I don't wear them outside of Disney and they're souvenirs, ha ha.

Still going strong with no clothing purchases in 2023! It also helps that we're saving up for a bunch of trips so whenever I think about buying something I imagine us being finished saving for those trips sooner. I've been thinking about getting myself some new pajamas as well, but that's not very exciting, ha ha.

The shortest month of the year is over!  I was good once again and didn't add anything to my closet. I did, however, gain a new accessory. Christian has been wanting me to get an Apple Watch for a while so he decided to get me one! Technically that is a new item in the closet, but it was a gift and it's more for tracking exercise versus fashion. HOWEVER, I am thinking about splurging on one of the fancy Hermès bands...but I probably won't because they're almost the same price as the watch, sheesh!

Can't believe it's my last wardrobe update of 2022, wow! I did buy a couple things this month. One cheap, one not so much...

Christian and I took a walk through Marshalls while visiting his family in Missouri (I needed a taste of home, ha ha) and we each got a new Christmas sweater. They're both men's sweaters because I didn't like any of the women's options. Luckily they had a small for me! I wanted the same sweater as Christian, but they only had mediums.

I also finally visited Marijane Boutique in Guilford and splurged on a Burberry Brit coat. Earlier in the month I won an Instagram giveaway they held for a vegan leather bag by Melie Bianco. It's a dead ringer for the Bottega Veneta Jodie bag that retails for $2650. (I had them ship it to me because I didn't know when I'd be able to get up there, turns out pretty soon, haha! Whoops.) Lydia works there so I've been meaning to stop by for a loooooong time! Christian and I were "just going to look" but of course I spotted this bright red coat and instantly had flashbacks of writing a dream outfit blog post in 2011 for going to the Christmas tree farm. It featured a Stella McCartney sweater (which I bought 2 years later on sale) and a coat very similar to this one. I'm also pretty sure when this coat originally was for sale I had it on various wish lists, but never bought it because of the price tag, even on sale. The 2022 version of the outfit came out pretty good!

Got a couple clothing gifts for Christmas too. A sweater to (hopefully) replace a super thin sweater I like to toss in my bag on Disney trips and other Summer destinations and a super fun coat from Anthropologie I've had on my wish list for over a year.

Another month gone...this year is going by so fast! This month my extra money was mostly spent on Christmas gifts so not really much for my own purchases. We'll see if I can make it through the rest of the year without buying more clothes. I made it through Black Friday and Cyber Monday without buying any clothes but did splurge on a few Le Creuset pieces using blog income, the easy way for me to spend and not feel bad, haha!

I bought a Deep Dutch Oven for $200(!!!!) a Classic Enameled Cast Iron Skillet for $120, Mini Pumpkin Cocotte, and a free Holly Mini Cocotte! (Originally, on Black Friday, I also bought a Mini Round Cocotte to get a free Snowflake Platter because I needed to spend $250 for the free gift. Then Cyber Monday came and I liked that gift better so I called to cancel my order and made a new one, I only needed to spend $200 for the free cocotte but still wanted the pumpkin one so I just nixed the plain round cocotte.) I bought the cast iron skillet from Williams Sonoma because I had 10% cash back and the rest from the Le Creuset because they had the colors I wanted and the free gift. So I bought it all for less than the normal price off the dutch oven - WOO! I still really want their round dutch oven (in purple that they don't make anymore,) but for $200 (reg $380) vs $460 or $420 I'll see how I like the slightly smaller size.

I did order some gifted pieces from Aurate for a post coming in January. Always love being able to add more of their pieces to my jewelry collection. They'll be arriving some time in December as they are made to order.

I broke my no spending streak! But I used blog profits so technically still didn't spend "real" money.  I got a site credit/promotion for $25 off a $50 purchase at TheRealReal so I did a quick (aka all night long) browse and found a couple things to splurge on. Some new with tags jeans and a really cute Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater. After all my years of blogging still one of my favorite brands (even though it was discontinued in 2015, haha.) I also threw in an $8 tank to get me to the $50. Since that was so cheap I'm splitting the $25 between the sweater and jeans for wardrobe price purposes.

Upon writing this post I found out, according to WWD, that J Brand won't be selling jeans on their website and in department stores anymore. Hopefully this doesn't mean they will disappear because they're one of my favorite jean brands! (Especially the Maria high rise)

Beginning with the summer 2021 collection, J Brand will be sold via Fast Retailing’s divisions, Uniqlo and Theory stores.  The brand’s Web site will be paused in spring 2021 and will  eventually be redeveloped.  It is conceivable that J Brand would open freestanding stores in the future.

I also got a $15 credit for Madewell and was trying to resist using it but then yesterday they had extra 40% off sale and free expedited shipping. I ended up buying two v-neck tees for $4. Can't beat that! They should be here tomorrow. Apparently I had a purple theme this month.

I also got a few new things for a sponsored Instagram post this month. Some workout clothes from Dona Jo. And I got new pieces from Aurate for a post next month. Stay tuned!

How are we halfway though the year/Summer already?! I made it through another month not spending money on clothes. I did get a new pair of sandals as part of a partnership with Aetrex, check out this post see what I wore it with on our camping trip earlier this month.

I don't really have much on my shopping list these days, apart from the teal Gucci Marmont bag I've wanted for quite a few years now. But It's probably going to wait a few more years before I finally get it. With work being a little slower than usual it's hard to justify spending around $1000 on a bag. I WILL get it eventually, though!

Just because there's nothing on my list of wants it doesn't mean I don't window shop. I still constantly check secondhand sites in case something amazing pops up, but so far I've resisted any temptation. Anyone else just shop for the fun of it and not really intend on buying anything?
