Nighttime walks on the beach are a staple while on vacation.  The whole family would traipse all the way across the street and walk along the sand and boardwalk taking photos.  Unfortunately we had some rainy nights so we didn't take as many walks as usual.  BUT we luckily had a full moon during the trip and got some great photos!  I pretty much lived in this cashmere sweater at night and on the last 2 days of the trip when it was cold and rainy.  I was lucky enough to win it in Amy's giveaway a couple weeks ago and it arrived just in time to take along.

I love the beach. The sound of the waves, the nice breeze, the cute lifeguards. Ha ha.  It's so nice to just relax and sit in a chair reading a magazine, or lay on a blanket and get sunburn.  I burned for the first time in a looong time this year, but it only lasted a couple days and turned into a tan.

Welcome to the first of many vacation posts! Here is what I wore for the 2 hour drive to our beach house in Rhode Island. When I say our, I mean the house we rented for the week. I wish we owned house on the beach.  The house is literally right across the street from the beach, so we just wake up and walk right over! It also makes night walks on the small boardwalk convenient (more on that later.)  These photos were taken in Galilee when we first arrived. We were a little early to pick up our keys so we hung out on the rocks and had lunch there.

I have been on vacation in Rhode Island this whole week without my computer so today's This Week in Fashion will be a little different.  Below are some photos of what I packed for my trip.  You will get full outfit posts for hopefully a few of these when I return!

I hope you enjoyed this week's posts, I slowly did them over the last month so I would be prepared for vacation and not have to worry about keeping you ladies entertained! It pays to think ahead in cases like these! See you on Monday! ;)

Some of you may recall that back in May I attended a Birchbox event for the launch of Caudalie Divine Legs.  At the event I bought a set of sample sized products to try out. After using them for the past couple months they have become some of my favorite products, I have already had to re-buy a one of them and foresee buying again in the future. When we're talking about me and makeup/skincare, that's a big deal.  Most of my beauty products have come in the form of free samples, gifts or to review and I don't repurchase because I'm not big into spending money on beauty products.

If you want to try smaller sizes of all the products to see how you like them, you can get the Caudalie Favorites set (like I did) for only $32! It comes with: Lip Conditioner (0.14 oz), Cleansing Water (3.4 oz), Divine Oil (0.5 oz), Hand and Nail cream (1 oz) and Beauty Elixir (1 oz).

Caudalie Cleansing Water/Makeup Remover ($14, available in other sizes) - By far my favorite product of the bunch. I use it every night to remove my makeup.  I use Shiseido Makeup Facial Cotton to apply it and it is amazing. The makeup comes off nice and easy and my skin feels super fresh afterward.

Caudalie Divine Oil ($32, available in other sizes) -This oil is magical, I use it on my legs after I take a shower or if I'm wearing a skirt/dress and it makes them so shiny and pretty!  It also has some SPF in it to block UVA and UVB, according to my dad. (He's a chemist and I had him read the ingredients.)  This is one of Caudalie's most famous products and I definitely see why. You only need a small amount and your legs are transformed from dull and dry to silky and shiny.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir ($18, available in other sizes) - This is a very interesting product. You spray it on your face before putting on moisturizer and your makeup.  It has a very fresh, minty-ish, scent that I really enjoy, but some people find it too strong.  You can also use it throughout the day to refresh your skin and set your makeup.

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream ($15) - I haven't been using this as much, because I have so many other hand creams, but it is definitely in my rotation. It hydrates the skin really well and doesn't leave your skin feeling oily.

* I was not compensated in any way for this post. I wanted to promote the brand because I like their products.
This outfit is from a couple weeks ago when I went out to eat and to the movies with my best friends.  We headed to our favorite dinner spot, Chilli's, and then saw Monsters University...so cute!  Since it was in the evening I was able to throw on some jeans without burning to death.  I offset the jeans with my favorite Summer sweater.

Now that it's Summer I've finally been able to break out this sweater again as you've seen here and here! It was made by my Grandmother for my Mom and my mom passed it on to me last Summer. It is a particularly favorite piece because she passed away when I was only 13 and it helps me to keep her near me always.  I actually wore it twice in the same weekend (the second time was to the Vogue Sunday Spill event.)

For those of you that missed my guest post over at Stylelista Confessions last month, I'm posting it here today!

When Alex asked me to guest post while she was on vacation (jealous!) I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I broke out my new maxi skirt (a great thrift store find for $5) and came up with an outfit that I would wear on vacation.  What I think is great about this outfit is that it can go from the beach to dinner with a few changes. I obviously showed it as the dinner option, but if you wore this to the beach just switch the shoes to flip flops, take off the jewelry and voila! You can also get rid of the tee as well and wear the maxi as a dress.

I am definitely taking this outfit with me for my beach vacation, sadly that is still a month away.

Ever since I was young, I've had a thing for Ancient Greek mythology. I had a book on all the Gods and Goddesses and Hercules was one of my favorite Disney movies (still is.) As I've gotten older, I've forgotten most of what I'd learned, it may be time for a refresher...if I could only find that book!  But now, thanks to Ancient Greek Sandals, I can show my love with clothes...shoes specifically!  And we all know how much I love unique shoes!
I first discovered them through, who else, Net-a-Porter; while checking the What's New section I saw sandals with WINGS on them: AWESOME!  Since then, I've been on the hunt for the perfect pair.  My first attempt, the Nephele, which I got on sale at Shopbop, was a bust.  They don't make half sizes and I got a size too small, and were also a little weird to put on because of all the straps.  That let me know two things:
  1. Go a size up, and
  2. Even though a lot of straps look cool, they are hard to wear!
I finally decided on the Ikaria sandal which took me a while because I couldn't pick a color (see this Instagram.) I went with natural because it would match everything - see all the available colors at the Ancient Greek Sandals website. I was so excited when they finally arrived, the leather is SUPER soft and comfortable and I can see myself wearing these for years to come. I imagine they'll only get better as they age.

Before I get to photos of my new favorite sandals, enjoy some information on the company, founded in 2011, courtesy of their about page: According to an ancient greek myth, the gods and goddesses had their sandals made on the beautiful island of Crete by a gifted sandal maker who enriched each pair with magical powers. Famous for having made the flying sandals for Hermes, the sandal maker also embellished them with his personal signature... a ‘golden wing’ buckle. The first styles have come to light and we are reproducing them for you, handmade in beautiful natural leather that ages beautifully with time and wear. We don’t however include the magical powers; you can enrich them with your own!

Enough chattering, time for the photos!

All the sandals are hand-made to order in Greece when you place an order directly from their website.  Because of this it takes 14-30 days for them to arrive. So if you like a pair on the website and don't want to wait that long just do a quick search to see if they are available at any other retailers.  Below are some more I would love to add to my closet. Now my problem will be to not buy every single pair.

This is NOT a sponsored post, I wrote it because I like the company.
At the end of today I will officially be on vacation! No worrying about work until the 29th (but I'm sure I'll be checking work emails anyway) when I'm back in the office.  I won't be bringing my computer with me but I can't completely cut myself off for the week so I'll be keeping up with blogs at night on my iPad, though I might not comment.  I have posts prepared for the week so you'll be entertained and when I get back I'll hopefully have outfit posts if I can get some family members to take photos. I'm taking my tripod but am not sure I'll feel confident enough to use it in public.  Sunday is going to be the crazy day with a ton of extended family coming for the day and staying overnight.  Some are staying until Tuesday and then it will just be me, my youngest brother, my parents and my aunt and uncle until Saturday! Make sure to keep an eye on my instagram (closet_fashion) because I'm sure I'll be posting a lot on it!

P.S. I just love that I'm the model for my Monday necklace (see product page here), woohoo!
