I bought these boots when I was in New York City a couple weekends ago. I forgot to bring my black boots that went with everything I had brought with me so while my friends were at Comic Con I headed to DSW and found these babies and used a $20 off coupon, my $5 birthday coupon AND the money my mom gave me for my birthday. A purchase made during an emergency, but one I'm sure will get a lot of wear! I only wish they went a liiiittle bit higher, but I can always find another pair that is thigh high.

This is the "classy" version of this outfit. If I want to be a little more risque I can pull up my skirt a bit more. But my dad was taking these pictures so that would have been a bit awkward, don't you think?

Tank: Vince c/o Marshalls, Blazer: Marc by Marc Jacobs (eBay), Skirt: T by Alexander Wang (Net-a-Porter), Boots: Audrey Brooke (DSW)

The time has finally come for my favorite boots to come out of their Summer slumber! It is almost their 4th birthday and I love them just as much as when I first got them.  It's rather fitting that I'm posting this look today since it's my birthday on Sunday and I got them as a gift.*

They are a perfect match with this sweater dress which could be a little boring with other shoes.  The boots bump up the volume, so to speak. That is also why I opted to add a vest on top as well, for a bit more interest.  It's nice to still be able to have bare legs during this time of year, the outfit will feel a little heavier come Winter when I have to wear tights with it.

* Well, I said I wanted them and my mom gave me the money to buy them for my birthday, but same thing.

This is the companion outfit to the brunch outfit I shared last week. Two weekends ago I headed up to NYC for a girls' night with one of my friends and a bunch of her other friends. She wanted to put together a group that had never met before (apart from her) which was really fun. I got to know some great new friends and came out of my shell a bit.

We started the night by having a late dinner at Antibes Bistro followed by some drinks at The Back Room, one of only two speakeasies in New York City that operated during Prohibition and is still in existence today! Most of you know that I don't drink much (because I can't find anything I like!) but I did try Antibe's namesake cocktail, sadly it was too bubbly for me since there was champagne in it.

I didn't take any photos of my outfit that night so I put the outfit back on just for you guys! ;)

Say hello to my newest closet addition - a DKNY oversized cardigan! This was my one purchase from Net-a-Porter's End of Season sale! I was good and resisted the temptation of higher priced items. While I did spend $94 on it, I think it will last me quite a while as it contains colors I wear all the time. I ordered it last Monday, and it arrived on Tuesday. Yes, folks, a little over 24 hours later! I do love Net-a-Porter's quick shipping! And my new Chanel 'Orage' nail polish was a perfect match for the blue! I love when outfits come together perfectly like this.

Cardigan: DKNY (Net-a-Porter Sale),  Sweater: Everlane, Jeans: Current/Elliott (The Outnet), Boots: Alexander Wang (The Outnet), Necklace: Indulgems (Gilt)

I had a busy weekend so I didn't have as much time to take outfit photos as usual, so I thought it would be a good day to share some extras from outfit pictures with Lydia since I haven't in a while.  Enjoy!

In contrast to yesterday's post, where I didn't want to wear all black, here's a black outfit! As you can see, my mood changes on the day. This is an outfit I find myself wearing over and over again because it's so easy. Some people don't like repeating outfits, I say why not?! If you like it, wear it again. Most people won't notice, and if they do, who cares?

I just love how the sweater barely comes above the hem of my skirt, the play in proportion makes me feel a lot taller than my 5'2" height. The sweater isn't supposed to be this long, but I bought a size large because it was all they had and I liked it. As long as I don't button it, you'd never know that it's the wrong size. I believe it was only $20 and I've had it for at least 4 years.

And how cute are these bow earrings from Lauren Conrad's collection at Kohl's?

As I posted yesterday, I attended an Endless Jewelry event hosted by Simply Majestic at Mystic Aquarium last week.  Endless Jewelry was started by Jesper Nielsen, one of the co-founders of Pandora, in 2013 and expanded the company to the US this year. Endless Jewelry is a similar concept to Pandora. You can buy a leather band (which has a magnetic closure) in a variety of colors and then add as many charms as you desire. Charms come in gold, silver and rose gold and some contain precious stones. Of the new line, Jesper says:
“I wanted to create something special, something that brings the classic collectible jewelry up to date,” says Neilsen. “I wanted to make a statement and let everybody else take part, or make their own. For me it’s not just a product—this is what we are. This is Endless. It’s going to be the next super brand, and we’re already on our way.”
The aquarium was such a fun setting for the event and Endless Jewelry really ran with it by using shells, starfish and other items you find in the ocean on their displays.  Part of the proceeds from the evening went to help support Mystic Aquarium and their mission.  I was particularly taken with the owl charm, grey pearl dream charm, penguin charm, and the purple band (obviously.)

Lydia and I had time to spare before the event started, so we drove the couple minutes down to Mystic Seaport for photos. It was perfect timing, everything had closed so there was no one there! A couple people walked by, but for the most part we were undisturbed, which was perfect because I always hate when people look at me...

Dress: Altuzarra for Target (also here),  Bag: Chanel (Madison Avenue Couture), Boots: Alexander Wang 'Freja' (The Outnet, still available in black, white and tan)

And a couple party snaps:
