In this look I'm wearing two things you don't normally see me in: tartan and a peplum.  For some reason (read: it's purple) I fell in love with this top last weekend at Lord & Taylor. I left it in the store since I'm doing the French Wardrobe challenge and my mom surprised me with it later in the week.  She got it for under $5 because it was on clearance, an extra 65% off AND she had a coupon, ha ha.  My mom is the queen of bargain shopping, it's how I learned to never pay full price. So even though I sometimes pay a lot for things, they're always on sale ;)

I'm also wearing my new skinny jeans, I think I finally succeeded in finding a replacement for my favorite Free People skinnies (their first appearance.) I loved them too much and the top section is now permanently wrinkled. They will remain in my closet because as long as I wear them with a long top they're perfectly acceptable (as seen here.) I tried so many other pairs but none were exactly what I wanted. I intended to give these a test run and order a second pair for when these inevitably get worn out, but my size already sold out.  Oh well, will just have to keep an eye out for them again.

Sweater: Abercrombie & Fitch (Coco's $5 sale), Top: J. Cooper (Lord & Taylor), Jeans: Current/Elliott (The Outnet), Boots: Cordani (Roundabout Resale), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted, $2!), Necklace: Geoclassics, Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports snake ring & Mom's

On Saturday I spent the day shopping with my mom and sister. Yes, I know, why would I go shopping when I can't buy anything? Because it's fun!  We went to Lord & Taylor and Marshalls.  After that we stopped at Rita's for some italian ice, yummmm.  The day ended with dinner at the local Diner (I had roasted chicken) and watching Frozen! Yes, I watched it twice in one weekend.

Here's a small selection of what I tried on. Since I knew I couldn't buy anything [see: French Wardrobe Challenge] I decided to have fun and try on lots of clothes! (my mom and sister were looking for dresses to wear to my cousin's wedding, I already have mine). I particularly loved the Free People maxi dress, Free People flowy top, red Ralph Lauren striped top and the purple top, but I stupidly forgot what brand it was so I can't even look online.

I have been neglecting this oversized blazer over the winter, but that's about to come to an end now that it is slowly getting warmer. I can use this as my outerwear instead of my winter coats - yay! I hope the sun comes out to stay soon, I'm sick of being sunny one day and then cloudy the next, so depressing!

I wore this to go out to dinner and watch Frozen with my best friends since it just came out on DVD (we saw it in theatres too.) I almost didn't even need the blazer. Sadly today we're back into the 30s and there might be snow tomorrow....AHH!

Don't let the sun in these photos fool you, this Sunday we went back to cold temperatures. Despite the low temps, I've slowly begun to inject some Spring pieces back into my outfits.  It is time for the return of my cute floral jeans from Target and the introduction of my new Keds! Funny how things you used to wear as a child find their way back into your wardrobe. I used to wear Keds ALL the time, but the brand has not seen my feet in over 10 years.

Sweater: Phillip Lim x Target, Jeans: Target, Sneakers: Keds (DSW), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Saks Friends & Family Sale), Sunglasses: Ray-Ban "Emma" (Marshalls), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Necklace: Grandma's, Bracelets: Ten Thousand Villages, Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports snake ring & Mom's

I wore this on Saturday for a morning of shopping with my Mom. It was a nice Spring-like day, except for the huge gusts of wind. But I didn't need a coat, so I'm not complaining! One of our stops was DSW, and since I'm doing the French Wardrobe Challenge I couldn't buy anything. That didn't stop me from trying on a bunch of cool shoes though. In the end, I bought a pair of adorable Keds sneakers (teal), which are a basic so they don't count in my 5, woo! Hopefully they will be comfortable for my walks to work; plus, they were only $18.

Cashmere Cape: b chyll (Roundabout Resale), Top: DKNY (from Lydia), Jeans: Free People (Gilt Groupe), Flats: Burberry Prorsum (Net-a-Porter sale), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted, $2!), Necklace: Geoclassics, Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports snake ring & Mom's

I hadn't worn these flares in a while, because it's a bit of a hassle to stuff them into my boots to walk to work, so when I wore them last week I decided they should probably get a full outfit post too! Once again I'm in my uniform: tee, blazer, jeans and heels. But if it's not broke, don't fix it, right?

Last year Sizers sent me a bunch of their shoe sizing inserts and I finally had the chance to use them! I bought a gorgeous pair of Proenza Schouler pumps that were too big for me, but at $55 I couldn't pass them up. Enter Sizers: I used the full size adjuster and they fit perfectly! Sizers are super easy to use, you just stick them into the toe part of your shoe to make the shoe fit from 1/4 - 1 full size.  They're only £10 (~$17) for a full set and £4 (~$7) for a single size AND free shipping worldwide. I definitely think it's worth it because you can remove them and use them for multiple shoes.

UPDATE: To answer a couple questions - They are foam-ish so they are soft and hard at the same time. They'll mold a bit to your foot and shoe as you walk so they are comfortable to wear all day.

* I was gifted the Sizers products but was not paid to post about them.
Before we get started with my outfit, there's some exciting news to share: The Outnet's Clearance sale starts today!  Shop over 2,000 pieces up to 85% off from your favorite designers including Lanvin, Balmain, Alexander McQueen and Isabel Marant. This is THE OUTNET event you can’t afford to miss, I always find great pieces to add to my closet! Since I'm doing the French Wardrobe Challenge I'm going to have to either get basics or find that one special item to be part of my "five" pieces.

I wore this outfit to work a few weeks ago (seen here) and decided it deserved it's own post.  I've done a few all black looks with skirts in the past, but I finally have jeans to do black the model off duty way. I like to imagine that if I were a model I'd walk around like this all the time. It was actually nice and warm when I was taking these photos (50 F) so I brought Layla out with me.  The last photo was supposed to be a full body shot but I thought I should zoom in because she looks funny in the background.

Since I got my haircut I have mostly been wearing it wavy, but for the last couple weeks I decided to let my hair dry naturally again.  Yes, my hair is naturally pin straight, to get it wavy I put it in a bun after my shower and sleep with it that way.  When I first got my haircut I didn't like the way it looked straight, but it's beginning to grow on me now.  Guess that's what happens with any type of change.

I wore this outfit twice in the span of a week. Once while I was at my aunts house (with boots) and I wore it this way to work. I'm not usually one for white clothes, too afraid of getting them dirty/being see through, but I have a handful of white and cream sweaters that I love.  Here is my newest edition, a unique sweater I picked up for $30 at Anthropologie, I just love the beading and colors.

This is coming a little late, but here is what I wore on Valentine's Day when a friend and I went to see Alton Brown Live! Thankfully it was nice and warm that night because we had a lot of walking to do! We had dinner at a fun Italian restaurant, then went and enjoyed the show followed by a DELICIOUS dessert! This was definitely my favorite Valentine's Day yet, I'm glad I actually went out instead of sitting at home watching movies (like I do every night)

And a couple photos from the event, we had a VIP meet & greet before the show and then were sitting first row!. Alton liked my necklace, he said it was 'glorious.'
