I've been trying to get out of my jeans and sweater rut so I looked through my fashion week folder on my computer and found this Daks Fall 2017 look I wanted to recreate. It's not exactly the same since I'm wearing a navy blue and boots instead of loafers, but it gets the feel! Who says you can't wear black and blue together, right?

Sweater: Phillip Lim x Target, Skirt: Siena Style (Coco's $10 sale), Boots: Candie's c/o Kohl's, Bag: Chanel Classic 2.55 Double Flap (Madison Avenue Couture)

The Inspiration:

Each fashion week I go through all the collections to choose my favorite outfits* as well as looks I would like to recreate with pieces in my own closet. This look from the Belstaff Fall 2017 collection was pretty easy to recreate, the only piece I had an issue with was the striped top since I only have 3 and they're mostly Summery. But this Zara tee did the trick! Add in some purple accessories and I was good to go!

*I haven't finished going through the September collections yet because life has been a bit hectic...OOPS!

Shearling Jacket: thrifted, Tee: Zara, Jeans: J Brand 811 Photo Ready Mid-Rise Skinny (Gilt), Shoes: Vince 'Maxon' in Fig (DSW), Bag: Dark Purple Chloé Faye (eBay)

The inspiration:

Time for another look inspired by fashion week! Here's a nice simple, monochromatic look from Brooks Brothers. I went a little bit lighter than their navy but it's still quite similar. All you need are skinny cords, sweater and cardigan in the same or similar colors. Next find a matching bag and loafers, burgundy in my case. Top it off with a scarf tied at the neck and you're all set!

Funnily enough my bag and shoes are the same designer, bought at years apart, in different thrift stores. The bag was $2 and the shoes $4. Some of my best finds!

Cardigan: Kohl's (old), Sweater: Banjo + Matilda (The Outnet), Corduroy Pants: Abercrombie, Scarf: Jason Wu x Target, Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted), Loafers: Etienne Aigner (thrifted)

Fashion month is upon us so I decided to try and recreate a few of the looks with pieces already in my closet. This one didn't come out quite as good as I was imagining in my head, and I had to use my mom's brown coat, but it's not horrible, ha ha. All you need is a burgundy sweater/turtleneck, a grey layer on top and long coat. Then throw on some cropped jeans and black slides and you've recreated this look by Veronica Beard.

Sweater: Everlane, Vest: Ella Moss (Marshalls), Jeans: M.I.H. TOMBOY in Farrah (net-a-porter), Slides c/o Luxe Me Now, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop)

This past Monday I attended one day of New York Fashion week. Sadly I was in Florida for a good chunk of it and missed some events I was invited to. But Monday I went to 2 events and got a nice taste. I could never do the full week - takes a lot of energy!

For those of you that don't know me - I'm a walker when I go to the city. I like the exercise and I really really dislike taking the Subway alone because I'm afraid I'll get lost. MY first show of the day was almost 3 miles away from the other. So my choices were: run 2.7 miles, find a cab (also terrifying for someone with social anxiety) or brave the Subway; otherwise I would have missed my second event.

Luckily for me, Blacklane came to my rescue when they asked if I would like to try out their car service. I was easily able to make my reservation through their website and smartphone app. All you have to do is share your pickup location, destination and time of pickup! Easy peasy! And you can cancel up to an hour ahead of your scheduled pickup if something changes. And finding my drivers was very simple; I got a text message a couple hours before letting me know my drivers name and a second text when they arrived at the pickup location along with their phone number in case I needed to call. Stress free and you get to feel fancy for a few minutes. The fares are a bit pricey (around $50 for each) but that included tip as well and you get the peace of mind knowing your ride will be on time.

*Blacklane provided me with 2 free trips in exchange for a mention in this post*

Dress: Edun (ThredUp), Sandals: Lanvin (Net-a-Porter), Bag: Emm Kuo (Roundabout Resale), Sunglasses: Chanel

Leanne Marshall: I was a huge fan of Leanne when she was on Project Runway back in 2008 (and won!) Her collection was full of flowy dresses in amethyst, tanzanite and nudes. My favorites were obviously the purples and then one really beautiful tan dress with embellishment on the bust. I also loved the final look, a tanzanite gown with bead and organza embellishment.  While simple, the dresses had beautiful braided detailing as well as a bit of sparkle thanks to sequins! Some of the dresses are available online now - shop here!

Sherri Hill: Admittedly I hadn't heard of Sherri before getting my invite to the show but I always enjoy discovering new designers so I was excited to attend. The show is definitely geared toward the younger crowd with prom-type dresses so it wasn't totally my style but it was a really fun show. There were some adorable child models as well and the crowd cheered every time one walked out. Unfortunately I didn't get any good photos from the show due to people standing up and blocking the view.

I also got to meet Aly Raisman and Nick Fradiani which was pretty darn exciting! For those of you that don't know, I was a gymnast for 13 years so being able to meet an Olympic gymnast I admire was amazing! And Nick was the winner of American Idol season 14 and is from Connecticut! I rarely voted on American Idol but I voted for him, super talented!

It is becoming a tradition for Lydia and I to head to NYC for the RewardStyle New York Fashion Week party. It's always a good time meeting old and new blog friends with a great view of the city. With the change of location for NYFW, the venue for the party changed as well. Instead of The Empire Hotel it was at the Hotel Americano.  I got to see a bunch of old blogger friends (even if it was just a quick hello - the party was super busy!) and met some new ones as well.

Nike was there to help us create our very own NIKEiD shoes! I can't wait for mine to arrive. It takes about a month, but they're custom made to your specifications so totally worth it! I got mine with spotted pony hair and purple accents!

I attempted the curl my hair for the day, but it didn't go so well. I just can't seem to work a curling wand (or curling iron...or any hair tool.)

Notice my little nod to Star Wars in this outfit, I couldn't resist wearing the cute lapel pin Kohl's gave me during my photoshoot last week! Hopefully I'll have the official photos from the shoot to share soon as well as a video!

Dress: Jason Wu (Roundabout Resale), Heels: Dolce & Gabbana (Uptown Consignment), Bag c/o Brahmin (similar), Sunglasses: Chanel (bought in Greece), Stormtrooper Pin c/o Kohl's

And some party photos:

Welcome to my last fashion week recap! I am a huge fan of Rebecca Taylor's dresses, and who doesn't love Chloe? There are too many designers out there to possibly share all my favorites so you'll notice that a lot are missing. I just filled in until I ran out of days. Ha ha.
