I haven't been getting out much these past few (aka FIVE) months, because we're staying safe at home, but when I do it's with minimal jewelry due to the heat.  How adorable are these small stackable pinky rings from Aurate? You can get them in sizes ranging from 3 to 10 so they're fit for any finger. I definitely want to add more of their thin rose gold rings to my jewelry box.
If you are a long time follower of the blog you'll know that I used to wear a LOT of rings, almost one per finger. But since getting engaged and married I've worn a lot less. These thin rings are a great accompaniment to my wedding rings. I went with rose gold vs white gold to add a bit more fun. Who says you can't mix metals?!
Both rings (and my cute twist huggie earrings) are made with ethically sourced and sustainably made Rose Gold Vermeil. Similar to yellow gold, rose gold is made with a blend of color-saturated alloys with a bit more copper for a rosy hue. Vermeil is basically a fancy name for gold-plated. Aurate goes above and beyond the required amounts and uses 14-karat gold with over 2.5 microns (thickness) and finishes with a top coat to ensure durability and shine.
To make your purchase even better, Aurate has a lifetime guarantee! They'll re-plate, polish, and repair your jewelry when needed. Additionally, for every piece of gold purchased, Aurate donates a book to a child in need in your name.
Summer and hot temps are the perfect time for bold prints! You don't want to have a lot of fabric covering your body so why not make it fun and vibrant. This dress by Farm Rio is so much fun, I was looking forward to wearing it at Disney this Spring but sadly that trip didn't happen. Rather than let it sit in the closet until next year, I decided to wear it for a day of nothing.

I finished the look off with a pair of sandals - I live in my Ancient Greek Sandals all Summer. I'm up to 9 pairs so far - with another possibly on the way, wow! I didn't need a bag since we were just going on a walk but if walking is the only activity on the schedule for the foreseeable future why not make it a complete outfit. This Madewell crocodile effect bag was a pre-quarantine purchase that I never got to wear before lockdown. So glad I was finally able to use it, even if it was just holding my phone, mask and hand sanitizer!
Last minute I threw on another new piece. A layered necklace that I got my Mom for Mother's Day. And no, I didn't steal it from her - I got one for my sister and I too so we could all match!

AUrate Simple Pearl Necklace

When it comes to jewelry in Summer I find that less is more is the way to go. Pairing simple outfits with dainty fine jewelry is the perfect solution for accessorizing in hot temperatures.  I'm delighted to be featuring sustainable jewelry brand AUrate again. I previously featured their Sensu Ear Jackets in rose gold during the holidays.

Pearls can sometimes feel a bit too "proper" for me. I have a full pearl necklace that my Grandmother gave me that is sitting unworn in it's box. It's beautiful but too much for everyday wear. When I saw this simple pearl necklace at AUrate I thought it was perfect! It's made with a sustainably grown Akoya pearl on a thin 14K rose gold chain and goes with any outfit.

A classic pearl necklace can go with everything from fancy dresses to a tee and jeans. For it's first outing I decided to wear it with a thin lacy dress and coordinating heeled sandals. Christian and I ventured to a local historical society with an apple orchard to take these gorgeous shots at sunset!

AUrate only uses ethical solid gold from conflict-free suppliers in vermeil, 14K or 18K gold as well as white gold and rose gold. AUrate only uses real, solid 18-karat and 14-karat gold. 14-karat gold is 14/24th parts, or about 58%, pure gold. The remaining percentage is an alloy, added to enhance the durability and hardness of naturally soft gold.

When it comes to their pearls, AUrate uses the highest quality AAA-grade pearls, plucked from the South Sea and reaching up to 12mm in size. This necklace features smaller Akoya pearls from Japan, ranging from 6.0 to 8.5mm.

Since they sell directly to consumers - many pieces are made to order so they don't have unneeded stock  - you end up saving money. A $200 necklace from AUrate could cost upwards of $520 at traditional retail prices. On each product page they share this information with their customers so you can see the difference, just like another favorite store of mine - Everlane!

I'm going on my honeymoon (FINALLY!) in a couple of weeks and will definitely bring this along.  I don't take much jewelry when I travel, but this necklace will be the perfect finishing touch for all my looks in Italy and Greece. Be prepared to see it a lot in my photos! (unless I get too scared that I'll lose it.)

Still looking for last minute gifts for the lady in your life who has everything? If she likes jewelry which, let's be honest, most women do, find her a beautiful pair of gold earrings. I was recently introduced to sustainable jewelry brand AUrate and sent this pair of gorgeous Sensu Ear Jackets in rose gold vermeil.  AUrate has everything you could want, from statement pieces to classic staples you'll wear for years to come. I have added quite a few other pieces to my wish list including this amazing Halo Diamond Opal Pendant. What pieces would you buy for a loved one?

What's great about AUrate is their mission is to offer sustainable, ethical handmade jewelry at affordable prices. The pieces are handmade by artisans in New York City, not a machine churning out hundreds a day. These earrings were $150 and would retail at most other stores for $390. This is because they cut out the middleman and sell directly to buyers without retail markups, much like Everlane, another favorite brand of mine.

The company only uses ethical solid gold from conflict-free suppliers in vermeil, 14K or 18K gold as well as white gold and rose gold. I had heard the phrase vermeil many times but never really knew what it meant. In essence, gold vermeil is a higher quality gold plated product. A base metal, usually sterling silver, is dipped into a coating of at least 10K gold to a thickness of 2.5 microns (one-millionth of a meter.) AUrate uses 14K gold to go the extra mile.

And, to make an even bigger difference AUrate donates a book to a student in need for every purchase made! So really it's like two gifts in one. Giving a beautifully made piece of jewelry to a loved one (or yourself) and the gift of learning to a student.

Enough about the companies awesomeness, on to the outfit! I styled the earrings for a holiday event but they would also work well with a simple outfit of jeans and a sweater.  Also - you can wear these with any studs you want! I'll probably try them with some pearl studs or my usual diamond studs in the future for some extra pizazz.

*Onecklace gifted the piece featured in this post, but all opinions are my own.

Now that we're nearing the middle of November, it's time to start thinking more seriously about holiday gifts! For those ladies on your list that are hard to shop for, I recommend checking out the specialty jewelry at oNecklace. The snowflake necklace I'm wearing here is the perfect gift for someone who is particular about their jewelry and wants a more custom piece without it needing to be engraved with their name or their birthstone on it; which oNecklace also offers! See some posts of me wearing their name and birthstone jewelry here and here.

You're able to choose your metal, chain length, chain style and clasp! For my snowflake necklace I chose rose gold plating, 20 inch ROLO chain and a lobster clasp. I'm a huge fan of lobster clasps because they're far easier than those pesky spring clasps most necklaces come with. The necklace is nice and thin and I love the detailing of the snowflake's crystals.

I've been blog neglecting this cardigan a bit over the last year or so. I got it in January 2015 and wore it CONSTANTLY, it became my default airplane outfit and I loved wearing it. But I guess I thought I wore it too much and stopped wearing it as much. It hasn't been on the blog since last November (in a similar outfit) but I've worn it at least a few times in the past year, I swear!

Cardigan: DKNY Oversized striped knitted cardigan (Net-a-Porter Sale), Cashmere Turtleneck: Vince (Marshalls), Jeans: Everlane high-rise skinny jean in mid-blue, Ankle Boots: Candie's c/o Kohl's (also here),  Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted), Snowflake Necklace c/o oNecklace
