The time in between seasons is very confusing to dress for. You don't know whether to wear shorts or tights, sweaters or tanks.  The key is to dress in layers so you can adjust your outfit for the weather. Layering works great for the top half of your body, but for the lower half it's a bit more difficult.  So I just went with some light flowy pants that keep you warm but also give you a nice healthy breeze. (did anyone notice that Harry Potter reference? Probably not because I'm a psycho and it's a totally random line)   I did a bit of subtle print mixing with this look as well. One of my print mixing tips is mix a small print with a large print, both using the same color scheme. That way it doesn't overwhelm you. I also mixed girly with edgy/tribal when I chose my accessories.

One of my favorite places to look for affordable pieces is ASOS.  They have pieces for every budget, for those of us living off jelly beans to the lucky ones who can afford to dress head to toe in designers.  They are also great because they have free shipping, I hate when I have found a great piece and then the shipping turns out to be more than the item! With ASOS you don't worry about that.

Today I am featuring a jewelry company that supports an amazing cause, 31 Bits. 31 Bits is a business using fashion and design to empower women to rise above poverty. They offer a variety of different programs for the women they work with in Uganda, which you can learn about here, more information about their business model is as follows:
We’ve combined successful development approaches with current design and fashion to create an innovative program for our women. We purchase jewelry from each woman on a monthly basis, providing them with an immediate, consistent, and fair income. Each piece of jewelry is handmade using 100% recycled paper and other local materials. By selling these products in the international market, we are able to generate a profit that is used to continue purchasing jewelry for our beneficiaries, as well provide them with numerous development programs, equipping them to develop a career and attain social equity on a local level. We are committed to working with each woman until she has graduated from our program and attained a sustainable means of income within her own community.
I am always a fan of companies that support a good cause so I will definitely be sure to keep checking up on 31 Bits to see all their new products. Their Spring collection, entitled Chasing Daylight, is amazing. I love the color scheme, especially the fuchsia. They were kind enough to send me a few bracelets to style, so here we go with an outfit! I tried to go for a modern hippie look, not sure I succeeded though...

When I look at my weekly roundup of outfits I get very annoyed with myself... As you can see, on Monday and Tuesday my face looks lovely because I actually took the 7 minutes to put on my makeup (I timed it once). The rest of the week I was too lazy and didn't so my face looks dead, ha ha.  And don't lie to me and say "ohhh your face looks great, what are you talking about," because it really doesn't ;) My outfits also decrease in awesomeness as the week goes on, another thing I need to remedy! So my goal for February is to wear makeup every day AND wear awesome outfits every day!

Does anyone have exciting plans this weekend? Saturday I plan on doing absolutely nothing and Sunday will be quite the busy day.  I am getting up early to get to Target for 8am for Jason Wu for Target! I know I am going to come out with nothing but it's the thrill of the hunt I enjoy. But hopefully I do get at least one piece! Then later in the day I'm heading home to watch the Super Bowl with my family.

I also have some REALLY big news, if you follow me on Twitter you already know, but I'm going to keep you in suspense until it arrives.  But if you are really curious just check my Twitter ;)

Yesterday's outfit was inspired by Natalie of Natalie Off Duty, one of my favorite looks of hers! It is such a nice basic look that anyone can wear.  I decided to wear one of my favorite blazers, it is by Moschino Cheap & Chic and I got on eBay last year for a steal!  This is my first time wearing this crazy scarf by Yarnz, I got it as a gift from Net-a-Porter at their Affiliate Tea in July.  The print is quite odd, seeing as it has designers' faces all over it, but when its on you can't tell. I did have a bit of fun with it in my photos though...I could be a designer ghost for Halloween!

Accidentally got a car in the first shot, but the other shots like this were bad. Click to enlarge

Blazer: Moschino Cheap & Chic (eBay) $37, Tank: Forever 21 $5, Jeans: American Eagle $0, Boots: Vintage (eBay) $11, Rings: Forever 21, Scarf: Yarnz c/o Net-a-Porter, Watch: Michael Kors, Purse: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I got these vintage boots off eBay a couple years ago and didn't wear them much at first. I liked them, but that was back when I was in college, a Closet Fashionista still dressing to conform...which is how this blog got its title! I decided I was going to come out of my closet and dress how I wanted ;) So now I wear them a lot more but I've never photographed them really well for the blog so here are some more shots.
My new Forever 21 pumps have finally arrived!  They are a little big, but once my feet swell up while wearing them I should be good, & I can walk so having a little space in the back is okay ;)  They are quite comfy but I fear wearing them for a really long time will make them hurt. Everything else I ordered fit well.  I'm a bit unsure of the skirt though, it feels a bit tight when I bend too much, but it looks okay for the most part? Sell it or keep it? (I can't return it because I don't want store credit).

I took some outfit photos with the skirt and shoes that came out icky...but I'll post them anyway ;)  I'm posting them all since I can't choose which ones are best, haha.  The misty one is kinda cool, the fence got in the way, haha.
Skirt - Forever 21 $14.80
Top - TJ Maxx $4
Shoes - Forever 21 $25.80
Tights - ? $?
UPDATE: I just tried them on again and the shoes aren't as big as they look in that photo, my finger can't even fit back there...it must look bigger from the way i took the photo, I was in an odd position. Here's a quick picture from my webcam :p

I was going to do a September Issue post at the beginning of the week and kept putting it off and now everyone has done one, so I'll just skip it so you all aren't bored of the same thing ;)
A few days ago my first credit card came in the mail! Yes, I am 21 and just got my first credit card...I don't really need one but I figured I should get one to start building up my credit.  Below is what my card looks like, I got one of those Captial One image cards ;)  I made my first purchase with it today! (shame on me)  (and no, that's not the actual card, I made it in photoshop...but that is the image that's on it)
Now, onto some good and bad news.  Last night I found out that the plain black Miu Miu inspired Mary Janes were finally online at Forever 21, so of course, I had to get them!! I really hate paying shipping so I opted for paying $10 more than I would have if I paid shipping to get a few more items ;) Whenever I shop I go through pretty much everything and add whatever I like to my cart, then when I'm done I go back and weed out things I have changed my mind about or don't really need.  The only problem is that sometimes, like this time, I end up with some things I really don't want to take out of my cart.  I was only planning on spending $40, but ended up spending $48.90 (GRR) :/  Normally I wouldn't have spent all that money...but whatever.
BUT apparently if you purchase over $25 in stuff you get a free magazine subscription, but if you don't want that you can email a form and get a $10 rebate, so I'm doing that! Hopefully it works.
Now hopefully it all fits, if the shoes don't fit I'm going to sell them on here or eBay so someone in another country can have a chance. But I really hope I don't have to do that since I want them all to myself ;)

I have decided to take cues from Lydia and my past spending freeze and starting on September 1st I'm going to try to stop spending money again (except gas). I doubt I'll be able to do it though...maybe I should set a monthly limit or something instead?  Well I have 6 days to decide the terms of my freeze.

Finally, the winner of the Destination Diva Bracelet Giveaway is....MARIE from Marie a la Mode!!! I will be emailing your information to Adrienne and she will contact you about where to ship your bracelet!

And so ends this ridiculously long post!
