Happy Monday! Here's my wardrobe update for July! Technically two of the items were bought in June but I bought them before I went on a trip and didn't know if I would be keeping them. It was July by the time I got to try them on.

I was also super bad and bought a new camera on Amazon Prime day. I got the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. So there goes $500. But now I don't have to be nervous about using my Dad's Nikon anymore and can have a better camera on vacations. I don't take his Nikon because I'm afraid it will break on the plane and it's a bit too large to carry around when I sight-see. But this new camera should be a good mix between my small Nikon and my Dad's DSLR.

Then I did a few sponsored posts and instead of being responsible and using the money for my camera I bought one more thing in the Net-a-Porter sale, haha! Oh wellllll......it was an extra 20% off thanks to their Sale Must Have discount and it's a basic.

I almost made it the rest of the month but Lydia and I decided to check out Roundabout's clearance sale on Saturday and I walked out with a cashmere sweater and Proenza Schouler shorts. I had actually posted about the shorts on here back in June 2011, so it was fate!

I was pretty good this month and (almost) only bought stuff while I was on vacation in Florida. Surprise, surprise, it's all Disney! I bought a super cute sweatshirt that has a fuzzy Mickey on it and then a Mickey ring matching earrings (I bought February even though I was born in October, haha.) I used advertising money for the jewelry.

Then I found another amazing deal at DSW when I was out with my mom. Some super cool Vince flats. They were another 80% off clearance find so I saved over $250! I had actually tried them on a month or two earlier but they were only 30% off then.

This month I aimed to not buy anything outside my trip to Italy. I almost made it the whole way though. At the beginning of the month I bought a pair of earrings that my friend Jamie-Lee designed for Mejuri because they're super pretty and I don't really have any non-stud earrings.

I also got an amazing deal on boots at DSW. They were 80% off $79 and then a further 20% off making them $12...how could I resist?! But now they'll be sitting in my closet until next Fall. They reminded me of a pair of Gianvito Rossi boots (and pumps) which was a nice bonus!

In Italy I wanted to buy a designer bag or shoes but sticker shock got me and I "behaved" and spent about $300 (€290) on Gucci sunglasses. They're listed at $400 on the US site so I did good.

After Italy, disaster struck. I went to Target with a friend and bought a bodysuit, shirt dress and tee. THEN that same day I found out Coach Outlets had the Disney collaboration for sale. I wanted a bag when they originally released at Coach but they were a bit too pricey.  I bought a cute Mickey ear bag in tan (wanted red but they didn't have it.)

To make matters worse, the Net-a-Porter sale started last week. It's my favorite sale of the year and there's only been one time where I haven't bought something. The first day of the sale I spent all morning going through every page adding things to my wish list. I haven't gotten anything yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Since I gave up buying clothes for Lent I made it through half of the month without buying anything. The weekend after Easter I went to Marshalls with my Mom and luckily nothing I tried on fit me. I did want to find something new to wear in Italy. Well, new-er. I do have a few pieces I bought last year/got for Christmas that I'll be taking on the trip, but they don't seem as "new" since I've been staring at them for months.

Yesterday I attended a Spring fashion event at Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets and won a $100 gift card AND an adorable bag! With my gift card I picked up some gorgeous black mules, which I've been wanting for a couple years. I also bought an oversized (aka size large because they didn't have my size) cardigan and cargo pants and I still have $10.52 left on my gift card. SCORE!

We still have this weekend, and an event with Lydia in Greenwich, so we'll see if I add anything else...

Happy Friday and happy last day of March. This month includes one purchase, but it's something I bought on February 28th. Silver heels to go with my bridesmaids dress for my cousin's wedding in April. I decided to give up buying clothes for Lent knowing that I might not be able to make it. So far, so good! Only 16 days to go and I will have made it! (That would also mean 2.5 months without buying clothes - if you don't count the wedding shoes)

I'm writing this post on Saturday the 25th, so hopefully nothing changes over the next 3 days. I've successfully gone the full month without buying any clothes or accessories!! I had done it a few months last year as well but that always included purchases made with advertising money or gift cards. This month it was absolutely nothing!

I'm currently saving up for a trip to Italy this May , so any money I don't spend on clothes is put away into my vacation Capital One 360 account.  I will attempt to behave in March as well but I am on the hunt for silver shoes for my cousin's wedding in April (I'm in the bridal party.) I also have a gift card to J Crew that's been burning a hole in my pocket for a while.

The first month of the year is up! I was determined to behave myself this month because I had a slower than usual end of year for freelance. I was tempted by so many sales but was able to resist most of them. I did use some Christmas money from my Grandma to buy a cashmere sweater, bathing suit and jeans. But the rest went into my travel fund! And I also bought some boots at Roundabout because they were such a good deal! So I almost behaved...I promise I'll do better in February!

It's my last post of 2016, so sad! Speaking of, that means it's time to reset my wardrobe update count. I didn't buy anything this month - GO ME! I did a pretty good job this year with some hits and misses in purchases. I'm quite proud of what I spent too, definitely less than the past few years! All in all I spent $1470.25 (that's not counting Christmas, birthday and advertising money)

I did make quite a few purchases that didn't get much wear but I'm still happy with them. I've only worn my Proenza Schouler pants a couple times but they're a statement piece so I think that's okay. I also haven't worn my awesome new Equipment blouse yet, but that's because I bought it 2 months ago and it was already too cold. Be prepared to see it a TON next Summer.

There were quite a few hero pieces though. My Saint Laurent patchwork blouse, Banjo & Matilda sweater, Banana Republic shorts, Ancient Greek Sandals, Gianvito Rossi boots aaaand, let's not forget the Lanvin sandals!!! By far my favorite purchase of the year.

P.S. If you want to learn more about how I manage my money, head over to this post: {opinion} How I Handle Personal Finance!

My "no spending my own money" streak ended the first week of the month. I went to Marshalls to find a gift for a friend and walked out with that gift plus a pair of GORGEOUS Gianvito Rossi boots for a steal! An expensive steal, but a deal nonetheless. I had actually been wanting a pair of black lace up boots since I love my brown pair (from AGES ago) so much and these are super luxurious. Really the perfect basic. Most of the high end designer shoes they had were in smaller sizes but they also had the slingback Gucci loafers in my size, sadly they were still $500...only $95 cheaper than regular price (here's the men's version.)

I also picked up a Vince tee during The Outnet's clearance sale when I was buying a Christmas gift for someone. What? Two for you...one for me! ;)

However, I didn't buy anything on Black Friday, so proud of myself!!

October was my birthday month and while I normally allow myself to buy an "extravagant" piece of clothing I refrained this year. I did get an Equipment cheetah print blouse I've wanted since it was debuted last year. It's quite hard to find but I spotted one on eBay in a size larger than I usually wear and pounced (pardon the pun.) I used advertising money so it was "free."

And, of course, I wrote this post too early and ended up buying something else. The Outnet's Fall sale started before the month was over and while I was looking for pieces for a post I fell in love with a crazy embellished sweater! I still had birthday money hanging around (after buying my Mickey phone and suitcase) so I used that to buy it. Thanks Mom & Dad!

I also got a pair of brand new J Brand jeans for FREE thanks to a store credit to The RealReal. It was a thank you for doing a survey, so I paid with about 20 minutes of my time. Definitely a fair trade (or unfair from their end.)

Technically I spent $0 this month since I used advertising and birthday money.  I do love loopholes!

This month I had a big chunk of advertising (and side hustle) money burning a hole in my pocket. I used a LOT of self control and only made one purchase with it - an order from Abercrombie during their Labor Day sale. I'm hoping to save the rest of it to pay for my portion of an airbnb for London this New Years! But who knows, something crazy may catch my eye and I'll be badddddd.

Once again I couldn't resist a sale! I ran into Roundabout for a few minutes earlier in the month to bring in some items and it just happened to be the end of their sale, so it was 75% off clothes and 60% off shoes and accessories. I scored a pair of Cole Haan pumps that I had tried on almost every time I've visited the store. I also got a fun printed green tank for only $9.75 (it was brand new with tags!)

I also used some advertising money to buy a couple pieces for Fall. A black cashmere sweater and long sleeve tee from Everlane. I've been wanting both for quite some time, especially since I got my crazy Proenza Schouler pants, so it was the perfect time! Sadly the sweater is back-ordered until October, but I likely won't need it until then anyway.*

Finally I stopped by Lord and Taylor last week because I had a 25% off clearance coupon. I bought a dress and tank for $29 total! Woohoo!

*I was emailed last night and told the sweater is out of stock so they canceled that part of my order. Such a shame since that was why I made the whole purchase! Oh well.

This month's wardrobe update is coming a few days early because I'm off to Aruba today and taking a break from blogging while I'm gone! My goal for July was to not spend any money on clothes since I went a little overboard on entertainment purchases last month. Sadly I failed.

I bought a bathing suit from Old Navy with a gift card, so I didn't break my no spending rule there. What got me was Net-a-Porter's End of Season sale. I almost made it through because the one thing I really wanted (Lanvin sandals I posted here in February) had sold out. But then in the last week of the sale one pair came back in stock in my size and it was an extra 20% off so I pounced. Bye bye $316 and my well-behaved month.

I made a purchase this month that I almost instantly regretted. I saw an amazing dress on Ashley of SideSmileStyle's instagram and HAD to have it. So I scoured the internet and found it on Poshmark. It was a size medium so I took a chance and unfortunately it is a little big in some spots and tight in others. The colors aren't exactly what I was expecting either, they're a little brighter. Maybe it will grow on me.

Sadly I spent a TON of money on travel related things this month so July has to be a no-shop month, except on my vacation. First, I renewed my annual pass for Universal Orlando. Second I bought tickets to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London, which means I'm going to London for New Years - WOO! AND a friend and I will be going to see JK Rowling & Eddie Redmayne talk at Carnegie Hall in November before seeing Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them (a week before the movie actually comes out!) Such a bad girl! But that's what I have my "vacation" savings for! I save every month and withdraw when I need to. A good system! :)

I behaved this month and only bought one thing, which I have a good excuse for! 1: It's from my favorite store that used to have a location in Newport but is still open in Boston. 2: It was on "super sale" from $25 to $8.50 and 3: It's my color! Burgundy!

    ...

I wrote that first paragraph a couple weeks before the end of the month because I was SO SURE I would make it through without buying another thing. How wrong I was. I misbehaved a few days ago and bought some amazing Proenza Schouler pants. BUT, to be fair, I have wanted them since September 2014 and they were an extra 15% off at Yoox (a version of them is still $578 at The Outnet). They should arrive tomorrow and I really hope they fit! But it's probably better that they don't so I have to return them and get the money back ;)

As I say every month: I'll do better in June!!BUT The Net-a-Porter End of Season sale started today, so that could be dangerous!

UPDATE: The pants arrived today and they fit like a glove! Super excited to wear them. Just gotta make sure I wear them A LOT.
