Welp, I had a bad month. I went to Marshall's with my mom intending to just buy a new set of dishes - which I did - and walked out with a new pair of pants and shorts. But I've been wanting more think pants for Summer and another pair of shorts to add to my rotation. Both are linen/tencel blends and super soft!

I was pretty good this month and only bought 1 new thing. Finally bit the bullet and bought that floral camisole dress I mentioned a couple months ago for $7, it didn't arrive yet so hopefully it fits! I've been watching it since last August, so I figure it was a good buy since I couldn't stop thinking about it, ha ha.  I also used advertising money for it so that's good too, it wasn't "real" money. ;)

I did also buy 2 Disney shirts for myself and Christian but I'm not counting those since it's Disney-only or PJ wear. Hercules is one of my favorite Disney movies and they had a Megara and Hercules shirt set for $10 each! They didn't have our exact sizes so mine is a little bit and Christian's is a tiny bit tight, but who cares.

In fun house news, we've been living here for a little over a year now (a year and nice days) and are finally getting around to things we've been wanting to do. We've started our vegetable and herb garden and got natural gas installed on Tuesday! We actually had planned on waiting a couple more years before doing the natural gas conversion but we were forced into early action thanks to an oil tank leak. But we got a super low interest loan (only paying $500 in interest if we pay over the full 10 years) and now we don't have to worry about oil anymore! YAY! Not sure what's next for the house, but we'll start saving up for whatever we want to improve on in the coming years.

Another month gone. This year is going by so quickly! I made it through April without buying any new clothes, yay! It's getting easier to not buy clothes but I still have moments where I want to drop some cash on a piece.  And I am still constantly window shopping, putting things in my cart and then abandoning ship. That's how I get it out of my system. I'm sure I'll buy something new soon to spice up my closet but for now I'm feeling pretty good!

Since I don't have any new clothes to share, it's a perfect day to talk about Paperless Post!  Anagram Interactive contacted me last week to see if I'd like to try out the e-card service with some free coins. I have been curious about Paperless Post for a few years but never bit the bullet and tried it. With Mother's Day approaching I decided to check out their selection of cards for Mom. My Mom will be traveling on Mother's Day so this is a great way to get a card to her.

I chose a fun card for 2 coins, then I added a custom background for an additional coin. I was going to pick a nice wooden background but found a fork and knife that matched the theme of the card and had to go with funny over pretty. The total cost of sending my card will be 5 coins including the envelope and envelope liner at 1 coin each. Coins range in price from .10 to .40 depending on how many you buy at once. Buying 25 coins is $10 and buying 1000 is $100. So if you're sending wedding invitations you'll want to buy your coins in bulk.  Paperless Post does offer free cards but they don't come with anything extra like envelopes or fancy backdrops.

I sent a test to myself to make sure everything will work properly on Mother's Day so now I'm ready to go! I love how even though they aren't "real" cards they still come in an envelope. It makes it so much more fun for the person receiving the email if there's some suspense of opening an envelope involved.  I think I'll also be using this to send birthday cards to friends in the future! So fun and easy and saves the environment since you're not buying a paper card, envelope and shipping it off to someone.

I behaved this month and didn't make any purchases! Go me! I was also successful in wearing 2 of my 3 new purchases from last month. See one outfit here, the other look is coming next week! I would have worn the 3rd item too, but I'm saving it for Easter! Haven't decided if I'll wear it once or style it two ways for both of our Easter celebrations. We'll see.

Fingers crossed that next month I can keep up the no shopping. But I've been following a dress version of my favorite camisole for months on eBay and am thinking of getting it because its only $8 (plus $3 shipping.) Decisions, decisions!

I almost made it through the month without buying any clothes. But then Roundabout sent an email yesterday morning about their winter blowout. 80% off clothes and shoes!! AHH! So I went hoping I wouldn't find anything and I walked out with 3 jackets...whoops!

One is a white blazer which normally isn't my style, because I'm afraid of getting white dirty, but I was drawn to it so now I have to be brave and wear white! Next up is a Sandro Paris burgundy blazer. I've been wanting something from Sandro for quite a few years but could never pull the trigger on anything because they're so pricey. Last is a purple Rag & Bone wool jacket with leather details. I liked it because it's like a blazer but since it's knit that makes it a little more casual.

I'm hoping to get back on track with my no shopping next month, but we'll see! You know I can never pass up an amazing deal if I see one. And I have a $15 credit for The RealReal expiring....

Colors are off a bit in these photos but I took them last night so the lighting wasn't the best. The perils of buying something the day before my wardrobe update is posted!

A new year means a fresh Wardrobe Update!  My goal this year is to only add quality items to my wardrobe and not overspend. Last year I made good progress in not shopping but I still added some pieces I haven't worn much. Granted they were Disney tees so they're really only for vacations - and I used gift cards to buy them - but still.

This month I added 2 of the same item to my closet. One was the exact same pair of shoes I already own. Why did I buy them? It's my favorite pair of sandals and I know I will wear them to death so now I have a backup pair in the same colors that I won't wear until the first pair dies. I also got the same shoes in black for when I'm feeling a bit more classic. I used advertising money from 2018 on them so I don't feel bad in the slightest.

I made a pretty large J.Crew purchase this month as well during their 70% off sale sale. I've had just over $40 left on a gift card for over a year and I finally made use of it. I bought two sweaters for my husband and got myself 2 turtlenecks and a pair of velvet jeans. All for under the price of my gift card!

I also bought something that's been on my wish list since I saw it on Instagram in August. You know I'm all about the statement piece and this one is extra soft - yay cashmere! At one point it had sold out so I was pretty sad. But then one came back in my size but was still full price so I patiently waited. Eventually it went on sale plus Autumn Cashmere was offering 20% off sale prices. It was a splurge but I used the remainder of my advertising and Christmas money to buy it. It was also my big purchase in lieu of getting something in Net-a-Porter's End of Season Sale.

Hopefully I can get back to my my "don't shop as much" mantra through the rest of 2019.

Another successful no shopping month! I'm writing this on Christmas so I may buy something between now and New Years Eve from the Net-a-Porter sale, but we'll see! I only got one piece of clothing for Christmas, a pretty greenish-blue cashmere sweater.

I did a pretty good job this year not buying many new pieces. I spent just under $90 all year - not counting gift cards, advertising money spent ($451) and my Wedding look ($1094 - $206 was ad money and about $600 was for my wedding band). I'd say that's a successful year! Hopefully I can keep it up in 2019 but I miss new clothes so much, ha ha!

I misbehaved this month and did some shopping when I was invited to a preview of the new Boscov's location in Milford! I got a couple sweaters and cute pearl Mickey earrings! It could have been a lot worse because they have such great deals, so I'm still counting it as a win.

I also bought a couple clothing items on my birthday trip to Disney. But I used gift money on those and am not including them in this update. I got an Epcot Food & Wine Festival tee, Toy Story Land sweatshirt and an Eve hoodie (I bought Christian the matching Wall-E hoodie.)

And I I FINALLY found my backup pair of Vince Camuto Davilla ankle boots on Poshmark. I had to buy them again because my current ones are dying after being VERY loved for 4 years. They've been all over the world and walked hundreds (seriously, at least 100) of miles with me. I used ad money that was just added to my PayPal. Perfect!

I bought 1 thing this month but it's something I've wanted for over a year now. I originally saw this Dooney and Bourke 2017 Disney Shopper Tote when I went to Disney in June 2017 but resisted buying because it was $268 and I "didn't need it that bad even though it's my favorite color and has Sorcerer Mickey (my fav) all over it." Fast forward months and months and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Thus the eBay search began. It was a special bag only available in 2017 so it's pretty hard to find for under it's original retail price. Luckily I found this one for $200 and I had recently gotten a small work bonus and had some ad money in PayPal so I hit Bid and crossed my fingers! This baby is definitely coming with my on my birthday trip to Disney in October! Sadly it will be my last Disney trip for a while because my Annual Pass expires in December and I have a mortgage to worry about and a honeymoon to save up for.

I bought two things this month, but sadly you won't be seeing them until after my wedding. Yep. I found my wedding dress (and shoes!) It's not a traditional dress because I'm not doing the traditional wedding thing, but it's super pretty! I got it during Net-a-Porter's sale with an extra 20% off (same with the shoes) and used advertising money on it. BOOM.

But, instead of a blank post this week I decided to show off the closet in my house since you all haven't seen it yet! We've been in our house a little over 2 months and pretty much have it all furnished - except our finished basement. I'll slowly be sharing little pieces on the blog (like my collection wall in the living room.)

It's closet time!! I painted the walls purple after we moved in because it's my favorite color and I wanted the room to be extra fun.  Eventually I want to get a whole custom IKEA closet system in here, but for now I'm sticking with pieces I already had from previous closets. You can see my closet when I rented a house with my friend; she let me use the third small room in the house as a closet. When I lived with 2 of my cousins my closet was actually my bedroom/closet because I took the smallest room in the house.

Welcome to the closet room
This dresser is actually a baby changing table if you fold out the top. But now it is a double layer shelf for my accessories and some beauty products

This is actually a bookshelf. But it's perfect for shoes!
Shoe shelving from Target!
My lovely IKEA shelves! Super heavy but I love them.
Some family heirlooms
Nail polish collection
Some of my bags
Dresses!
Shirts!
My beloved Chanel bag and fun LV bucket bag!
My daily rings, which have been put on hold since the engagement and for the heat of Summer. But they'll be back on my hands eventually! Just maybe not all at once like I used to wear them.
Sweaters galore! (Should be interesting when I get my bulky winter ones out of storage)
A closet within my closet. This used to be steps up to the attic but now it's a perfect tiered shelving unit for extra shoes and my shoe boxes (I only keep the expensive boxes.) The attic is now accessible through the ceiling
This is the closet in the guest room, I commandeered it for my blazers
This was a truly successful month! I didn't add anything new to my wardrobe; free, advertising money or otherwise! I guess buying a house really does curb your spending, right? I do have some advertising money burning a hole in my PayPal though, I'm waiting for the end of the Net-a-Porter sale to try and scoop something up at a deep discount!

I apologize for the lack of post this past week, but I can finally share why I have been trying extra hard not to buy any clothes, or anything unessential. I bought a house with my boyfriend! We've been keeping it very close to the belt because we didn't want to say something and then have it fall through. Our offer was accepted waaay back in March, but we didn't close until May 22nd, so it's been torture not telling anyone except for super close friends and family! Now I get to decorate my own home and build the closet of my dreams - after we tackle the rest of the house, of course! (It's a 3 bedroom and we're turning a small room into my closet.)  The house is only 10 minutes from my parents, which is nice because I'm a weirdo and like spending time with my family. ;)

I did make 2 clothing purchases this month but they were on vacation and I used a gift card, so it doesn't really count. ;)

My will power was strong this month. No clothing purchases! I've been doing pretty good with not spending money outside necessities this past month. However, this Thursday I'm going to Disney for my best friend's birthday and we're pulling out all the stops (Keys to the Kingdom Tour, Frozen Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party and dinner at Cinderella's Castle!) Luckily I have all the money I need for that trip saved. Yay for vacation funds so I don't have to feel bad! But when I get back it's back to being very frugal.

Happy end of March!! I was successful with my now buying clothes/accessories this month! I did add a couple pieces thanks to a collaboration with Azaggi Jewelry. Let's see if I can continue my streak with a no spend April! I'm trying really hard to curb ALL my spending the next few months (except for a trip to Florida I've had planned and a quick New York City visit for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.) More info on why at a later date.

Starting very soon I won't be able to buy as many pieces of clothing as I've become accustomed to. So it's a good thing I got a head start this month and didn't add anything new to my closet. And I've gotten this far so I might as well try to give up clothes shopping for Lent this year, right? One month to go!

UPDATE: Okay, I lied. I just got back from a quick lunch break trip to Roundabout because they were having their blowout sale (80% off clothes + shoes and an additional 20% off clearance). I ended up walking out with a $348 Robert Rodriguez dress for $16.80! Still going to try to go through all of March with no buying though.

(I'm still in Florida, but it's the end of the month and that means wardrobe update time!)

I love the first wardrobe update of the year, it's such a nice, clean slate! This month my goal was to not spend any money on clothes. I did buy something, but I used a gift card so I technically didn't use my money. There's always a loophole, right?

But, as per usual, I went to DSW with my Mom "just to look" before I went on my trip. I almost made it out alive. I went through clearance in my size only looking for the yellow stickers (aka 80% off) and didn't see any good pairs so I joined my mom to see if I could help her find cute shoes. Then I found these AMAZING Franco Sarto mules and decided to see if they had them in my size too...they did, so I bought them for 50% off plus $5 more off. The color is perfection and they're a really soft suede. They're very reminiscent of the Gucci loafers everyone - including me - have been obsessed with for over a year. I had wanted the slingback version, super cool.
