Fall is one of my favorite times of the year (along with the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas,) so it should come as no surprise to you that one of my favorite traditions is going to the pumpkin patch! My family has been going to the same one since I was a youngin', Jones Family Farms (it is also where we get our Christmas Tree every year.) This year I just went with my sister and her boyfriend, but there's plenty of time to go again, so maybe the whole family will go one weekend.

It was super chilly and windy when we went, but was still a lot of fun! We went early in the morning to avoid the crowds but by the time we left the place was PACKED. It is insanity! I went a little light this year and just bought 2 small gourds and a bundle of Indian corn, only $6 for all of it. I'm sharing my outfit today and will share some general snaps tomorrow!

[Yes, the title is a reference to Winnie the Pooh]

Tee: Made by Me (inspired by Burberry), Blazer: Marc Jacobs (eBay), Jeans: Free People, Boots: Eighteen68 (Gilt), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted)

I have received compensation for this post, but all opinions are my own.

Let's do something a little different today: Everyone loves music, right? And a lot of people use musicians as the inspiration for their outfits. My friends know that I am not a new/popular music kind of girl. I prefer Classic Rock and the oldies when I want to get my spirits up. I turn to bands like The Eagles, Beatles, James Taylor or Billy Joel and if I'm in the mood for "new" music, John Mayer (and more recently Manifesto - a British band that I was introduced to via a Harry Potter actor who is in the band.) To switch things up, I decided to create a look inspired by The Police!

The Police were one of the most popular groups in the 70s and 80s and their songs are still played on most radio stations. You would likely find at least one of them in a leather jacket or a blazer, and they loved their jeans! As for shoes, they were fans of boots and sneakers. A pretty easy look to recreate because it has a certain ease about it. (Don't worry, we won't go totally 80's with over-sized blazers as they did.)  I created a look with items from BooHoo.com!

Leather Jacket, White Tank Top, Skinny Jeans, Chelsea Boot, Pearl & Chain Necklace, and Round Frame Sunglasses

Some more inspiration images for you to enjoy (and giggle at)
When I saw the Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2014 collection I knew I would be able to recreate a couple of the looks with a top Oasis sent me last year. The collection had some outfits featuring skyline shirts of London (some of which are available on NET-A-PORTER right now!).  I did the first look when I went to New York a couple weeks ago, seen here, and today I'm sharing the second look!

Top c/o Oasis, Leather Jacket: Theyskens' Theory (Nordstrom Rack), Skirt: made by Mom, Sandals: Simply Vera (Kohl's), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports & Mom's

Here are both looks side by side with the inspiration. What do you think?

Last year I did a series of outfits inspired by Halloween films, today I'm re-sharing a bunch because I enjoyed them so much. The dress featured in the last post is still available at The Outnet (when I first did the post it was at Net-a-Porter!)

It is finally the perfect weather for the inspired-by Burberry owl shirt I made last year!  For it's first outing this season I decided to pair it with my Mother denim skirt and burgundy booties.  I wore this for a morning of errands on Saturday - grocery store, T.J. Maxx and Duchess for lunch! A perfect morning.

Tee: made by me, Skirt: Mother c/o Marshalls, Boots: Zigi Soho (DSW), Purse: Etienne Aigner (thrifted, $2!), Necklace c/o Gorjana Griffin, Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage & Mom's

Remember last week when I posted that inspiration photo of a purple and burgundy look?! Well I recreated it for one of my work outfits this week (took the photos over the weekend to be prepared)!  I'm quite happy with how it turned out. How do you think I did?

Sweater: American Eagle old, Pants: Elie Tahari (Shopbop) gift card, Heels: Miu Miu (eBay), Bag: Chanel, Sunglasses: Ray Ban 'Emma' (TJ Maxx) gift card, Watch: Michael Kors, iPhone Case c/o Zazzle

And here is my look with the inspiration.
It's about time I did a post on my Michael Kors inspired lace skirt.  When I saw the Michael Kors Fall 2012 collection I fell in love with the lace skirt and cream sweater combo [proof]. I had the sweater and similar shoes already, so all I needed was the skirt.  I waited impatiently for it to go on sale so I could learn more about the shape and materials.

Unfortunately the actual skirt retails for $6,995 (the sweater is $1295) so that was definitely not an option.  Thankfully my mom can sew so I asked if she would help me to recreate it! I found the fabric on etsy (buy here) and we used some old patterns to create our own.  It took a while to figure out how to get the high-low to work. In the end we had to get rid of the scalloped hem, I was a little disappointed, but the skirt still came out great.

We had some leftover fabric so my mom made another skirt, this time shorter and with the scalloped edge.  That version is going to be easier to wear but I am definitely going to get a few more wears out of the longer version, see the first time I wore it here. I'm thinking it's my Thanksgiving outfit!

Here are both complete looks, what do you think?!

Sweater: Inis Crafts (Marshalls) $30 gift, Skirt: Made by Mom $50 for fabric, Sandals: Guess (Marshalls) $40
vs.
Michael Kors Sweater: $1295, Michael Kors Skirt: $6995, Michael Kors Shoes: $995 (they were sandals on the runway)

$120 vs. $9285 = savings of $9165  OR 98.7%

Next up I'll show you the Burberry-inspired Owl Tee I'm working on!
Finally, here's an outfit inspired by another huge favorite of mine, Teen Witch! If you haven't seen this movie, shame on you, it's amazing (watch it.) Full of 80s fashion, songs and funny scenes; you won't be disappointed! The movie stars Robyn Lively, Blake Lively's older sister, as the main character Louise (she is SO gorgeous, I wish I looked like her.) Because all the looks are very 80s I toned the look down a bit so you will be able to wear it without looking like you time-warped. This is definitely one of my favorite looks in the film.

The hardest thing about this outfit was finding a skirt, I was so sure that Free People would have what I was looking for, but they let me down, ha ha! I'm sure there is a more perfect choice out there (with the tiers) but I settled for the one below. It was also hard to find the pendant and, because it is Louise's source of power, I wanted to find one that does the movie version justice. So, etsy to the rescue!

Skirt: Delia's; Top: Delia's; Vest: Free People; Belt: Temperley London;  Heels: Target; Socks: Soft-Fit; Bracelets: Marc by Marc Jacobs Cuff and Target Beaded Bracelet (get two & layer!); Rings: Kohl's, Kohl's and Kohl's; Necklace: Etsy

And here are some more looks from the film. I always wanted a dress like the blue one, I think I may have had one at one point, without the peplum though. I should look for a picture of me in it...

More can be seen in this video, pardon me while I sing along.

Today I'm featuring a look worn by Allison (Vinessa Shaw) in Hocus Pocus, another favorite of mine.  I was choosing between two looks, but the other one was a bit too similar to yesterday's. I could seriously watch this movie (and Casper) every single day and not get tired of them. Anyway… What you'll need is a purple top, tartan skirt, tights, laced booties, wide belt, long necklace and a red cape! *phew*

Top: Target, Skirt: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, Cape: Alloy, Satchel - Cambridge Satchel Company, Tights: ASOS, Socks: Target, Booties: Chloe, Belt: Ralph Lauren, Necklace: House of Harlow 1960

Here is the other look I wanted to recreate, just wear jeans, a white longsleeve shirt and an oversized tan sweater!
