I wore this outfit for my "Valentine's Day" date with Christian. We usually eat out once during the week so this was just a slightly more expensive version of that, and it wasn't even that expensive because it was lunch, ha ha. It was basically an excuse to eat at a restaurant we've been putting off for a while.

The Chowder Pot in Branford has been one of my favorite restaurants since I was young and now Christian loves it too. Their honey butter bread is divineeeee! I usually ask for a second one to take home when we're getting out check.

We ran some errands in the morning on Saturday and got to Branford a little too early for the Chowder Pot's 11:30 opening time so we decided to take photos at the library to kill some time. BOY was it cold. Can you tell I was freezing in these pictures?

Sweater: Everlane "The Wool-Cashmere Square Crew" in Crimson, Jeans: J Brand 811 Photo Ready Mid-Rise Skinny (Gilt), Boots: Audrey Brooke 'Mirie' (DSW), Sunglasses: Chanel, Bag: Chanel Classic 2.55 Double Flap (shop pre-loved Chanel)

I have been so "lazy" with my outfits this Winter. I try to come up with interesting looks utilizing different things in my cloet yet I always fall back to the jeans and sweater combo. It's not a bad thing but I'm feeling bored with my style. Definitely a pitfall of working from home. I don't have occasions to wear my "fun" clothes as much and then on the weekends I'm usually hanging at home, running errands or at my Grandma's for a few hours. Not peak blazer or fancy clothes wearing time. So I continue on with my winter uniform, cycling through old and new sweaters.

This time it's a sweater I've had for a LOOONG time - eight years - it's been on the blog quite a few times in varying degrees of "stylish." I used it to recreate a Michael Kors runway look in 2012 and rang in 2017 in London at the New Years Eve fireworks.

Also wearing my new J Brand jeans today! I expected them to be like my "super skinny" pair and tight to the legs but they were a little looser. Perhaps if I got the 26 they would've fit more like I imagined, but I was too lazy to go through the exchange process, especially because they might have sold out and I would've been out of luck. The dangers of sample sale sites.

A new year, a clean slate for my wardrobe updates! This year I'm going to try to shop even less than last year, but I was pretty good in 2019 so not sure that's possible. It's so hard for me to not shop because it's what I love to do, but knowing I have a mortgage (and trips to save for) makes it a bit easier. It also helps that I've had a couple slow work months so disposable income has been slightly lower than I'm used to. YUCK!

Luckily I still have gift cards from my Shopbop partnership to help when I just can't stop the urge to shop. I'm trying to hold out for pieces I know will last for years to come. So far I've only purchased this Splendid top in their big sale last year.

That being said, I did add something to my closet this month. I've been looking for a pair of medium wash jeans to replace one of my favorite pairs by FRAME (I feel a hole coming on, NOOO!) I was hoping to get another FRAME pair but when Gilt gave me a $25 "we miss you" credit and free shipping there was a pair by J Brand for about $25 less than the pair by FRAME. I also had enough in PayPal from ad revenue that covered the rest. (Meaning if I bought the FRAME pair I would've paid $27 out of pocket instead of them being free. And free is best)

A couple weekends ago Christian and I went out to run some errands and just as we were ready to take photos it started to snow. We snapped our pictures as quick as possible so we wouldn't freeze and then headed home to watch the rest of the "storm." It was only a few inches but I always enjoy a little bit of snow as long as it doesn't get all gross and dirty. Love how these photos turned out. The light flurries are so pretty.

It was a good thing I wore these boots since they have a rubber sole that is perfect for traction in wet conditions. I have been so bad at wearing my blazers lately so I made a point to wear one for our outing. It was between this Etro patchwork blazer and my black velvet polka dot Marc Jacobs blazer. Guess I'll be wearing the Marc Jacobs blazer next!

Blazer: Etro Patchwork Blazer (Roundabout, shop more blazers), Cashmere Sweater: Ellen Tracy (shop cashmere sweaters), High Waisted Jeans: J Brand 'Maria' High Rise in Supreme (shop more J Brand), Boots: Cordani (Roundabout, shop winter boots), Bag: Dark Purple Chloé Faye (eBay)

Whenever Christian gets his haircut we make it a morning of fun. On this particular Saturday we were out bright and early at 8:30am for his appointment with Cassie at H Salon (she cuts my hair too, but I go a lot longer between cuts.) After he was all spiffed up we headed over to Terrain to check out their holiday displays. Terrain is one of my favorite stores, even if I can't afford to shop there. We did pick up a frosty fern for $10 and I splurged on a couple candles for $20.

After Terrain we headed to Mecha Noodle Bar in Fairfield for some delicious ramen! Sooo good! I would eat here all the time if I could. Their chicken ramen (Shoyu Paitan) and red oil dumplings are my favorite!

Sweater: Everlane "The Wool-Cashmere Oversized Cable Turtleneck" (shop more turtleneck sweaters), High Waisted Jeans: J Brand 'Maria' High Rise in Supreme (shop more J Brand), Boots: White Mountain lace-up boots (shop more boots), Bag: Dark Purple Chloé Faye (eBay), Sunglasses: Gucci aviators in tortoise

I have such a backup of outfit posts that this one is from almost 5 weeks ago, wowza! Anyway, this is what I wore for a food blogger dinner at First & Last Tavern in Plainville! As was becoming tradition for these blogger nights out it was threatening rain so Lydia and I had to take our photos super quick. It was also pretty dark at 6pm so we were battling fading light as well.

I wanted to wear my Autumn Cashmere sweater with one of my favorite pairs of boots by Alexander Wang so that meant wearing super skinny jeans, which probably wasn't the smartest idea for a dinner event, but I was able to squeeze the food in! I've had these boots for 8 years now and my love for them has not faded. The color is amazing and I love all the small details from the open toe to the laces and ability to fold the top down.

Note: There was a version of the boots made for an H&M collaboration a few years after this so make sure you're getting actual high end ones if you want to recreate this look in the same quality. Or if you want a budget version, go for the H&M pair, just make sure you don't overpay for those! (I noticed The RealReal has the H&M boots listed for almost $400)

Sweater: Autumn Cashmere Landscape Sweater, High Waisted Jeans: J Brand 'Maria' High Rise in Supreme (Gilt Groupe), Peep-Toe Boots: Alexander Wang suede Freja boot in brick red (The Outnet), Bag: Dark Purple Chloé Faye (eBay)

A look at some of the delicious food!
