You'll notice one difference in this weeks throwback outfit. I've got some new shades on! These are the third pair I'm trying with Ditto's Endless Eyewear program. I decided to go with these navy Karen Walker 'Starburst' sunglasses because their dramatic shape looked fun!  Use code CLOSETFASHIONENDLESSDITTO for your first month free!

Dress: Jones New York (Lord & Taylor), Sandals: Seychelles (DSW), Necklace: Francesca's, Sunglasses: Karen Walker via Ditto Endless Eyewear

I wore this a couple weekends ago to go bridesmaid dress shopping for my cousin's wedding next Spring. We found a dress that was really nice and hopefully the other bridesmaids agree! After that we had a 4th of July cookout at Grandma's house so I figured a red, white and blue outfit was very fitting.

Dress: Jones New York (Lord & Taylor), Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals 'Athena' (Gilt), Sunglasses: Chanel, Belt: Kenneth Cole Reaction (Marshalls)

I love this dress but hardly ever have occasions to wear it! So when my cousin's baby got baptized it seemed like the perfect occasion. It had been cold the few days prior but luckily we had perfect weather on the day! I didn't even need my jacket but it finished off the look so I wore it to church and then took it off.

Dress: Anthropologie 'Odille Artist Rendering Dress' (gift from Lydia), Heels: Lanvin (Roundabout Resale), Blazer: Jones New York (Burlington Coat Factory), Sunglasses: Chanel, Necklace: Bubu Ruby

This will be the oldest of my throwback outfits. I think this was my first actual "outfit post" on the blog after I bought this blazer and jacket. I was super jazzed about my purchases, and the excitement was well founded seeing as they're still in my closet. The jeans and tee, not so much. I was still able to recreate the look pretty closely. I could have been more exact with jeans, but I felt like wearing the distressed pair.

Blazer: Jones New York (Burlington Coat Factory), Tee: Everlane, Jeans: Current/Elliott, Boots: No.704b. (DSW), Necklace: Indulgems, Sunglasses: Chanel

I wore this on a perfect end of August day spent with Lydia and Christine. We went to our favorite restaurant, The Chowder Pot, followed by some shopping. I behaved and bought nothing! (Well, technically I bought this Jason Wu for Target dress for my cousin for $5, but that doesn't count.) The weather was so perfect, not too hot, not chilly. Just perfection.

Everything in this outfit, apart from the sunglasses, is at least 2 years old. Gotta love pieces that stick around! This dress will definitely be in my closet until it withers away to nothing (or I grow out of it...)

Everyone ready for the long weekend? This is what I wore last weekend to do some shopping and have lunch with Lydia and Christine! We headed to New Haven and visited Vintanthromodern where I picked up a suede jacket I first tried on 14 weeks ago (according to Instagram) And yes, I cheated and didn't put this in my wardrobe update post because this is such a random purchase not related to the season at all. After we shopped we had lunch at a Thai restaurant. It was my first time having it so I was a little nervous, I'm a VERY picky eater. But it was pretty good!

And yes, the post title is a reference to Bob Seger's Mainstreet (love this song!)

Jacket: Jones New York, Camisole: Eight Sixty, Jeans: J Brand 'Maria High Rise Skinny' in Supreme (Gilt), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted) Sandals: Cole Haan 'Minetta (Amazon)

Florals for Easter, groud-breaking.  This dress has been worn for a bunch Easter celebrations in the last few years. It's perfect for the occasion with it's tiny flowers and nice, breezy, fabric! It was still too chilly to go tightless so my legs look a little tanner than the rest of my body in these photos (although in real life they weren't orange, I look like an Oompa Loompa! Ha ha)

Dress: Jason Wu x Target, Jacket: Jones New York, Sandals: Cole Haan (Amazon), Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Henry Dinky' (Gilt), Sunglasses: Ray-Ban 'Erika' (Ditto), Rings: old, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Lumo 'Violet, Lumo 'Rope'

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had cousins visiting from Ohio so I spent most of Easter weekend with them. Except for Saturday night when we had Easter with my Dad's side of the family. We actually had fairly nice weather, which was good! I did still have to wear tights though, partly because my legs are super un-tanned and partly because it was chilly in the house. I actually rolled this dress up a little bit since it hits me just below the knee, which is not so good for my short stature, ha ha.

Back in July I filmed a television segment for the show Extreme Cheapskates. First of all, I never thought I would be doing that (read: I am super shy, so talking to a camera used to be out of the question.) Second, it was quite the experience seeing how "reality" shows are created.  Lydia was asked to be on the show so they could showcase the thriftiness that makes her so awesome. Then they asked if she had a friend that would consent to tagging along on a shopping trip with her to be "taught her ways."  She finds amazing pieces for great prices so she doesn't break the bank to make an outfit.

The episode aired almost exactly a month ago, and let me tell you, it has been rather interesting seeing the reaction. A few of my family members just happened to have the show on and saw me, so they called my Mom to tell her how excited they were.  And I told a select few family and friends since I wasn't sure how dumb I was going to look.

See all the pictures from our photoshoot over at Lydia's blog!

(yes, I'm wearing my own shoes and jewelry in most of the looks as well as my own jeans. AND I kept the kimono top/silk top we found at Good Will because it was a fun look!)
