Since we were at Disney to celebrate Kristen's birthday we decided to do something really special on the day.  We did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour in the morning into early afternoon and then finished the evening with a very special dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table.

The Keys to the Kingdom Tour is a 5 hour walking tour of the park where you learn some fun hidden secrets behind the making of the park. A couple of rides are also included, we went on the Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion, I'm not sure if they do any others. You do get to go inside the secret Disney "tunnels" and backstage areas but the majority of the tour is out in the park. It includes lunch and you also get a keepsake key to take home with you! It was a rainy morning so I had to buy an $8 poncho to keep dry.

Unfortunately no photos are allowed on the tour so no pictures there. I do HIGHLY recommend this guide if you're a huge Disney fan and want to learn more about the history of the parks. Our tour guide, Iyar (spelling?) was amazing, he really had a love for Disney and the parks. Even though it was raining for a bunch of our tour he still kept it fun and upbeat. I would do it again (even in the rain) in a heartbeat.

Dress: Elle (Kohl's), Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals 'Athanasia' (Moda Operandi), Bag: Disney x Coach 'Patricia' with Mickey ears, Sunglasses: Ray Ban 'Erika', Eyeglasses chain: Tinksky (Amazon)

Food

Pescos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe

We had lunch at Pescos Bill during our tour. I got the chicken tacos and grabbed a corn medley as well. SOOO good!

Liberty Square Market

In between our tour and dinner we were a bit hungry so we stopped for one of my favorite Mickey shaped treats, a pretzel! YUMMM!!

Cinderella's Royal Table

On to dinner! We had previously done Cinderella's Royal Table with my sister back in December but one day I was randomly checking for reservations and saw one for the night of Kristen's birthday, it was a no brainer!  The meal was amazing, as expected and we had some pretty great princesses to take photos with. We were there for the fireworks and unfortunately didn't have the best view to see them, but it was still really cool seeing the lights from inside the castle.

(The photo above is from when we moved to the center of the room to see the fireworks, our view was of one of the side windows)

Princesses normally get wands, but Kristen and I asked for swords because they're cooler (and we already had wands from last time)

Food

The menu had changed slightly since our last visit where I had the starter salad, Pan-Seared All Natural Chicken and "The Clock Strikes Twelve." This time I got the Castle Salad and "The Clock Strikes Twelve" again but tried the Beef and Shrimp as my entree. It was DELICIOUS. The steak was perfectly cooked and the shrimp were delicious. I'm not normally a huge fan of mashed potatoes but I ate them all. Super smooth and tasty.

Kristen had the Charcuterie Plate and Beef Tenderloin Salad with The Clock Strikes Twelve. Since it was her birthday I also ordered a special signature dessert from the special events department. It included a dark chocolate slipper (you could also get white chocolate) filled with a chocolate mousse, a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse covered with a chocolate ganache and finished with a Happy Birthday chocolate piece. You can also get one that says Happy Anniversary or Congratulations.

Castle Salad
Charcuterie Plate - A Selection of Cured Meats, Cheese, and other specialty selections of the Castle
Grilled Beef Tenderloin, Sautéed Shrimp in a Shallot-Butter Sauce, and Potatoes Au Gratin with Braised Rapini
Grilled Beef Tenderloin, Mixed Greens, Roasted Marinated Mushrooms, Blue Cheese Crumbles, and Fried Leeks in a Balsamic Vinaigrette
The Clock Strikes Twelve - Dark Chocolate Mousse with a Dark Chocolate Ganache served with a Raspberry Coulis
This royal dessert features a dark chocolate slipper or a white chocolate slipper, filled with a chocolate mousse.  This is presented with a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, covered with a chocolate ganache.

Princess Photos

It's always fun taking pictures with the Princesses. Before dinner you take a photo with Cinderella, and while you eat Snow White, Princess Aurora, Ariel and Jasmine come around to your tables. The Cinderella photo is done by a professional but you take the other Princesses on your own. My one complaint about this experience is the fact that the lighting is dark in the room so the photos you take with the other princesses are never as good as Cinderella. For the price you pay for the meal there should be a photographer with each princess to take professional photos.

You can see a video of the fireworks in my Instagram post:

Happy Monday!! I'm back and settled in from my trip to Florida for a friend's birthday! This time along with my outfit posts I'm going to be doing small reviews on what I did. This way it acts as a bit of a diary and travel guide for people thinking of doing a Disney vacation!

For Star Wars day (May the 4th) I wore a tee I scored in the men's section for $4 along with an R2D2 necklace from my Star Wars photoshoot from Kohl's.  To keep it fully Disney themed I wore my Coach Mickey Ears purse the whole trip. A nice subtle, cute way to show my Disney love.

Star Wars Day at Hollywood Studios was pretty fun! They had a bunch of merchandise that was available for only that day. I restrained myself and just bought the Millennium Falcon pin.  There were also a few extra Star Wars themed shows throughout the day to celebrate.

Star Wars Blueprint Tee: Kohls, Shorts: Rag & Bone c/o Marshalls, Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals 'Alethea' (bought in Greece), Necklace: R2D2 Pendant c/o Kohl's, Bag: Disney x Coach 'Patricia' with Mickey ears, Sunglasses: Ray Ban 'Erika', Eyeglasses chain: Tinksky (Amazon)

Meeting Characters

Star Wars Launch Bay

One of the fun things we did to celebrate Star Wars Day at Hollywood Studios was to visit all three characters at Star Wars Launch Bay. We caught up with BB-8, Kylo Ren and everyone's favorite wookie, Chewbacca.

BB-8 thought I was on the dark side because of my shirt, but we assured him I was merely a spy for the rebels. Kylo tried to turn my friend and I to the dark side with his charm, but we resisted. Chewy was charming as ever and gave us big bear hugs.

The lines weren't as horrible as we were expecting and, since it was hot outside, it was a great way to escape the heat for a couple hours.

Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams

We went back to Hollywood Studios on our last full day and decided to wait for photos with Sorcerer Mickey, my favorite!! You also get a photo with Minnie since she is part of the same line, but I'm not a Minnie fan (shame on me, I know.) Mickey was spellbound (HAH!) by our Mickey jewelry (we both have rings and earrings featuring Mickey.)

Food

Backlot Express

I always make a stop at the Backlot Express at Hollywood Studios for their Dark Side Chicken and Waffles. You get a few chicken nuggets and a darth vader waffle. I buy the kids size to save a few bucks, plus it's still plenty of food! My friend and I also decided to try out the Kylo Ren dark chocolate cupcake with peanut butter buttercream. It was pretty tasty!

Fairfax Fare

Normally when I go to Hollywood Studios it's just for half a day so I don't usually stray from my chicken and waffles. Since we were visiting all day on May 4th we tried somewhere new for dinner. Sadly their kid's menu lacked anything I liked so I had to fork over $12 for this meal rather than my usual $8. I got the 7-Layer Rice Bowl with Grilled Chicken. It's grilled chicken served over cilantro rice, black beans, fire-roasted corn medley, pico de gallo and sour cream topped with cheddar. I skipped out on the sour cream and cheddar and it was delicious!

Also, for the month of May, several different quick service restaurants (Fairfax Fare included) have special Solo themed cupcakes to celebrate the film coming out on May 25th. This cupcake comes complete with delicious candy rocks on top of a chocolate cupcake with cookies & cream frosting. MMMM! They're not on the menu so be sure to ask about it! We had to go to a couple places to find any still in stock.

Entertainment & Shows

March of the First Order

The First Order takes on new recruits a few times a day in this fun parade-like show. We happened to catch this twice at just the right time for 2 great views of Captain Phasma training Storm Troopers.

Disney Movie Magic

This is a projection show that is shown on the Chinese Theater at Hollywood Studios. It is a tribute to the lasting legacy of Disney films and shows all the way from Snow White & The Seven Dwarves to Indiana Jones all the way to their newest films. I love this because it includes short clips from some of my favorite lesser known films, like Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

This Star Wars themed fireworks show is so much fun. The final show of the evening, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, is one of my favorites. It brings you all the characters from the films and highlights some of the best scenes in the franchise all ending in a spectacular burst of fireworks.

There is much more to do at Disney World's Hollywood Studios but this is basically a Star Wars highlight. Toy Story Land opens this June and I can't wait to see it later this year on my next trip! We also have Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening in 2019. Some other quick highlights I always like to hit at Hollywood Studios:
  • Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
  • Toy Story Mania
  • Star Tours
I'm starting to run out of cute Summer looks to throw back to! Might have to start going back to 2014 and 2013 instead of trying to keep them a lot older. Hopefully I can still keep up this feature for another year, it's so fun to re-wear old outfits! This is another that is almost all original, I just don't have the tank top anymore.

Cardigan: Kohl's, Cashmere Sweater: Paolo Rodesco (Roundabout Resale), Skirt: American Eagle, Wedges: Madden Girl (DSW)

The Original:

I wore this outfit almost exactly 7 years ago.  I still had 3 of the 4 original pieces, which is pretty darn good! This blazer is thick but surprisingly cool which made it perfect for when I was working in an office during the Summer. Obviously I don't go into an office anymore but it is still a wearable look for out of the office.

Jacket: Jones New York (Burlington), Tank Top: American Eagle, Jeans: FRAME 'Le Skinny de Jeanne' (Shopbop), Wedges: Simply Vera by Vera Wang (Kohl's)

The Original:
This is another Nashville look I didn't take pictures of. I wore this when we went downtown to Tootsie's. I'm not a country music fan but luckily for me all the bands played great stuff! Even The Devil Went Down to Georgia, which was one of my best friends' floor music for gymnastics! I'm not normally one who goes to bars but I pretty much spent the whole night talking to a new friend, so it was pretty great!

I had actually worn my Lanvin suede sandals with this outfit but when I re-wore it I decided to wear my brand new Nicholas Kirkwood suede pumps! WOOHOO! I also threw in a little geek chic with my R2D2 necklace, because why not?!

Bodysuit: Who What Wear Collection (Target), Skirt: T by Alexander Wang 'ruched jersey miniskirt' (NET-A-PORTER), Shoes: Nicholas Kirkwood suede Prism pumps (NET-A-PORTER, also here and here), Necklace: Star Wars R2D2 c/o Kohl's, Sunglasses: Gucci
