It wouldn't be London without some rain. Oddly enough this was the first trip where I've experienced a full day of rain. We headed to Oxford in the afternoon to visit Christ Church since some Harry Potter scenes were filmed in the interior. I also experienced Nandos for the first time. Unfortunately I was dumb and got a pita when I should have gotten the burger version (Not a fan of sauces or cole slaw...)

My New Years Eve is normally spent on my couch at home watching movies. This year, however, I was standing in front of Big Ben watching the London fireworks! What an experience! I live an hour and a half from New York City but would NEVER go to those fireworks because you have to camp out all day for a good spot. Luckily for Londoners they've started making the event ticketed to avoid crowds and the need for camping. We did have a bit of a wait (40 minutes) to get into our section, but once we were in there was plenty of space for all.

One of my favorite parts about our flat was the proximity to Portobello Road. I just love the colorful buildings and the bustling activity on the weekends. Ever since I watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks when I was younger I had wanted to go there. I went the first time I visited London (back in 2011) but it was nice to be closer this time. We were literally a street away so we were able to walk down the street on weekdays to go to the grocery store without all the crowds.

I wore this during the day on New Years Eve for a LOT of walking so I didn't bother wearing a coat. We walked Portobello Road and then made our way to Kensington Palace and moved on to Harrods after that.  Sadly I couldn't find anything I really loved at Harrods. I did almost buy a Burberry dress but ended up leaving it. After Harrods we took the bus back to our flat to get ready to go to Big Ben for the fireworks! I'll share that outfit next week.

Sadly I couldn't find the actual scene, but here's the song!
Okay, so this isn't actually Platform 9 3/4... BUT we were on our way to the Harry Potter Studio Tour and these photos are on a platform, so it works. We spent most of our day enjoying Hogwarts in the Snow at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London.  The whole studio is decorated for Christmas with snow, trees and decorations. If you are ever in the area in the Winter I highly recommend visiting to see the sets this way. It's truly magical!

This is the front porch of our apartment. Isn't it gorgeous!!!! I was in love with the Airbnb I found for us. The woman who lived there had such a unique style so it was a really fun place to stay. We even had a shared garden with the whole block, unfortunately we never had time to go in.

This is what I wore for our day of going to Christmas Afternoon Tea at the Chesterfield Mayfair and part two of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.  I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of the play when I read it over the summer. But as a production I really enjoyed it! The way they showed the magic and other special effects in the show were truly amazing. And all of the actors were perfectly suited for their roles! My personal favorites were Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy), Paul Thorne (Ron Weasley) and James Howard (Draco Malfoy.) Sam Clemett and Jamie Parker were also perfect as Albus Severus and Harry Potter.

I've been back from London for 5 days, but thanks to the blog I get to relive it while posting outfit photos! Here are photos from day 1, December 28th. I flew out of New York City on the 27th and landed early on the morning of the 28th. My friends and I stayed in Notting Hill which has always been a dream of mine. It's such a pretty neighborhood with lots of colorful houses. Our street was all white but beautiful all the same.

After we arrived and checked into our Airbnb I changed into this outfit for our trip to the theatre. We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is a two part play taking place 19 years after the Harry Potter books ended.  Part 1 was on Wednesday evening so we had just enough time to run to the grocery store down the street, get a quick bite to eat and head over to the theater. We were lucky enough to get front row seats and were right in the middle of the action. We could literally see the spit from the actors (the guy who plays Scorpius Malfoy is particularly precise with his wording, but I LOVED him.)

We only had 2 touristy days while in London. The third was dedicated to MuggleNet Live: Expo Patronum, a one day Harry Potter conference my friend Kat was running.  I was assigned to the autograph room and was in charge of making sure only those with the right tickets came in the room, and then made sure no one lingered too long.

So, photo diary time! In the final two pictures you'll see Alfie Enoch (Dean Thomas) and Nick Shirm (Zacharias Smith), two actors from the films. There were plenty of others in attendance, but I mainly talked with Alfie and Nick so I made sure to get photographic proof. Nick has a band, Manifesto, that I really enjoy so we talked about that a bit. And Alfie, as many of you will know, recently starred in How to Get Away with Murder on ABC.

Our second day in London a group of us went to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter. They have made a few changes since I was last there for the Grand Opening in 2012 so it was really fun to visit again, especially with people who had never been before.  If you are ever visiting London and are a movie fan (doesn't even have to be Harry Potter) I highly recommend it.
