Welcome to the first (and only) installment of the Intern Diaries! Since I only worked 3 days a week it didn't make sense to do the old version of "This Week in Fashion," so I decided to do a large recap! Moving on, I have been interning in New York City for a fashion website as a graphic designer and the dress code is pretty casual; we have to look presentable & professional.  I think I've been doing a pretty good job with it.

As I have been hinting, I have some big news!  After only 2 weeks my boss and the President of the company decided they liked my work so much that they wanted to hire me on a more permanent basis! We're starting out at 4 days per week to see how things go, so exciting! It's going to be hard getting up at 5:40 almost every day, but it should be worth it. Monday was my first official day as a freelancer, now I am officially working in the city! Woohoo!

I'm still commuting because I can't afford to move to the city yet, but I assume I will end up there eventually...

Day 2 of LuckyFABB was spent shopping in Soho! We started off having brunch at the Crosby Hotel (where I had an awesome celebrity sighting: GEOFFREY RUSH!!!) with Lucky editors and Piperlime. Our first stop after brunch was Piperlime's brand new store, where we were the first ever shoppers! We continued by stopping at Aritzia, Topshop, Kate Spade and Calypso St. Barth. I posted photos from inside the stores on my Facebook because there were too many, check them out!

This was my favorite day in New York by far. I met some new friends; Nikki, Ashley, Bethany, Alexandria, and more! AND I finally had the pleasure of hanging out with Mary in person after following her blog for quite some time, she's awesome!

UPDATE: Yes, this is the same fabric as yesterday's skirt. I had my mom make another with our leftover fabric. This time with the scalloped edge. (we wanted that on the other skirt but it wasn't working out properly)
We were lucky enough to receive gift cards for Piperlime and Aritzia, so I picked up a pair of Genetic Denim aztec print jeans at Piperlime and some Maison Scotch printed pants and T.Babaton cashmere sweater at Aritzia!

This past weekend when I was home, my mom and I went through her old patterns because we are trying to recreate this Michael Kors skirt (because I obviously can't afford it.) We came across one for a dress she wore to some weddings. I asked if she still had it and, it turns out it was one of her favorites, so she did!

She made the dress back in 1994 (when I was 5) and here I am wearing it in 2012, 18 years later, funny how things work out that way.  She used to make a lot of her clothes, clothes for my sister and I, and even our American Girl Dolls! Unfortunately I didn't inherit her patience so I'm not very good at sewing, though I have made a few pieces (and quilts)

The last picture is my mom in the dress at a wedding with my brother. Sadly I couldn't find a really good shot of my mom in the dress, it looks better on the videos we have, but I didn't have time to get a screenshot from a home video.

Dress: Made by Mom, Heels: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card, Bangles: Burlington Coat Factory $7, Necklace: Acanthus giveaway win
I look freakishly skinny in the last shot, I swear I didn't Photoshop it, haha...
Hey girlies! I have a favor to ask of you all today.  As some of you may know my mom is a great sewer, she used to make tons of my clothes when I was little, she alters some of the clothes I get if they don't fit and she also makes TONS of quilts. Recently she has been getting into making bags, she started out making quilted bags as gifts and last month she made a bag out of felt.

What I want to know is, would you guys buy this if I set up a shop for her on etsy? If so, how much would you be willing to pay for it?  She would even be able to do custom bags if there was enough demand. It is made of felt, with some beads and felt flowers hand sewn on. It is also fully lined with 3 inner pockets so you can fit tons of your bag essentials inside.  It has wooden handles with a snap closure. Click the photos to see the images larger.

My mom was a bit nervous about me posting this, but I think that its great and people would be interested in buying them, as well as other things she has sewn. So yea...haha...what do you think?!
