As has been the norm the past few times I've actually had somewhere to go (other than my parent's for dinner) the weather did not want to cooperate. This is what I wore to go to New Beauty Magazine's 10th Anniversary party in New York last Thursday. Disregarding the misting/rain the whole time I was walking to and from the event it was fun! I got my "perfect shade" of Paula Dorf lipstick picked out for me ("Attitude") and got my hair braided with help from John Barrett Salon.

The event was three floors of experiential beauty, so everyone was just walking around trying out all the different products! I really liked the Per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel, will have to buy some when my shopping ban is over! At the end of the event I got an amazing goodie bag filled with products to try! Going to be fun going through all of them! Already gave some stuff to my mom and sister since I can't possibly use it all on my own.

P.S. This weather was making me think of this part in The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, poor Rabbit! Ha ha.

Jacket: Theyskens' Theory (Nordstrom Rack), Top: Daniel Rainn (Piperlime), Jeans: J Brand 'Maria High Rise Skinny' in Supreme (Gilt), Necklace: House of Harlow c/o South Moon Under,  Rings: old, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Lumo 'Violet, Lumo 'Rope', Heels: Jimmy Choo (Roundabout Resale)

Some days you just want to walk around in a blanket. On this particular day I did the next best thing and wore my cashmere cape. Super cozy, especially when layered over a tshirt and turtleneck sweater for added warmth!

After a morning of shopping I cuddled up in a nice big chair and read for a while. I've been trying to get back into reading and started off by finishing the 4th book in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle.  The final book, titled Inheritance, came out in November 2011 and I got it the day it came out. I made it halfway though and kind of stopped reading (the books are like Lord of the Rings - super detailed!)  This outfit is actually a couple weeks old, so I have since finished the book, and boy does it feel good being done. I started the series in 2006 when they made a movie out of the first book: Eragon.

A couple weekends ago I took a last minute trip to New York City for brunch with friends.  I wanted to wear this camisole I got during Piperlime's 60% off sale sale (only $12!) but it was going to be quite chilly. So I wore a suede jacket and topped it off with a leopard coat. I took these photos at about 8:30am so I forgot to take a quick shot with the jacket - oops! I also broke a fashion "rule" and wore black and navy together, but it totally worked!

Luckily it wasn't too cold so after brunch a few of us walked through Central Park to head back to our respective locations. Grand Central for me! I was only in the city for 4 hours, and my travel time was 3.5 hours. Sometimes you have to sacrifice time for fun! :)  Right when I got home I headed out to dinner with all my cousins, so it was truly a whirlwind day!

Welcome the newest member of my closet - a gorgeous navy suede jacket! I scored this at T.J. Maxx for $80 after a $25 gift card, retail was $698, talk about a deal! I was deciding between this, a navy Rag & Bone 'Jett' blazer ($79, regular $495) and a burgundy/red Clements Ribeiro coat ($59). I decided the suede jacket was the best option because I already have plenty of coats and blazers and need a bit more navy in my life.

This hat from was my best friend last Winter.  I was still commuting to New York City 4 times a week and walking 1.5 miles in the freezing cold to the office, so this saved my from freezing my head off.  Normally it was paired with earmuffs, sunglasses and a huge scarf, but since I wasn't in the freezing temperatures when I wore this look I was able to wear it on it's own.

Jacket: Lauren by Ralph Lauren (TJ Maxx), Tee: Everlane, Jeans: Genetic Denim c/o Piperlime & Lucky Magazine, Mouse Flats: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Saks Fifth Avenue Friends & Family Sale), Necklace: House of Harlow c/o South Moon Under, Hat c/o Ricefield Collective

Joules gifted the items featured in this post, but all opinions are my own.

Would you believe me if I told you I never owned a quilted jacket until now?  I just never got around to buying one, so when Joules asked me what products from their site I wanted to test drive, this quilted hooded jacket was at the top of the list! I also picked out a really cute pair of wellies for days when I want a bit more whimsy in my rain gear.

Winter is on the horizon (okay, we still have a couple weeks to go, but the weather is certainly veering in that direction) and Joules has an amazing selection of jackets, dresses, rain boots and faux fur pieces, perfect for your Winter wardrobe. Their children's clothing is also making me wish I had kids to dress: SO adorable! Just look at how cute this little boy's fox sweater is.

See how I styled both my new pieces below!

Monday it was back to the office after 2 glorious weeks working from home.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy going to the office and getting dressed. But when I get 3 extra hours sleep and don't have to do my 5 hour round trip commute I am just so much more bright and happy. It also helps that I don't have to go to bed at 10pm like an old lady.  But it was back to business this week.

P.S.  The Net-a-Porter U.S. clearance sale is in its final week, and you can get an additional 20% off sale by entering GIFT20 at checkout.* The sale ends at midnight PST on Thursday January 16. *The 20% discount code does not apply to the following brands: Givenchy, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Miu Miu, Chloe and Fendi; or items marked "Final Reduction"

I'm getting into the habit of picking at least one of my outfits from the previous week and photographing it for the next weeks outfit posts.  This weekend I chose my comfortable, print-mixing look from Wednesday.  After I took the photo in Friday's post and was about to leave for work I decided to throw on my fur vest and didn't have time to re-take the photo, so here's what I actually wore on Wednesday. It's the time of year where I break out my Miu Miu heels at least once a week because they instantly elevate a look. For these photos I also added my new Brilliant Imports snake ring which arrived this weekend, it is definitely going to be one of my new daily rings.

This sweater from Marshalls was actually from the men's section. Luckily for me, it somehow ended up in the women's section and made its way into my cart. I can never resist Marc Jacobs, especially when it is a super comfortable sweater. That's why I love Marshalls, you never know what (or who) you'll find in the racks.

I hope everyone had a lovely week. Mine was quite busy and today will be busy as well. But at least I get to work from the comfort of my couch today. In the world of clothes - I have still successfully avoided wearing an actual winter coat, it's still warm enough when I leave work to not need one. Although I did wear my new rain coat from Marshalls this week (once, haha.) I did layer sweaters on top of each outfit though, I'm not trying to get sick! I also wore a couple new-to-me pieces that I snagged while helping Lydia clean her closet. Both are purple, obviously, ha ha.  I was also a bad girl and wore leggings as pants, but my sweater was long enough to cover my rear, so I think it's okay.  I wasn't feeling good that day and didn't want to wear real clothes.

It's getting a lot chillier out there! In the mornings I almost need a coat, but by the time I leave work it is a reasonable temperature.  We moved offices this week where I work, which was an adventure. I love the new space, it's a lot larger and we're grouped into smaller rooms (which I like because I'm shy and it's actually helping me talk and get involved a little more.)  However, I don't like the new commute, it's only 5 minutes longer but it seems so much longer because I have to go across more avenues, which are longer.  Oh well, what can you do?

This is what my Thursday outfit looked originally, but then I decided to wear my Burberry sweater instead of a coat, so I had to change my boots too, ha ha.
Here is what I wore for my shopping spree day that included Marshalls and Roundabout Resale.  I spent pretty much my whole clothing budget for the month in one day, so needless to say I won't be shopping for a while. Oops.  I got lots of great things though!  In addition to what I mentioned yesterday, I got a gorgeous two-tone Gianni Notaro purse, Chanel skirt (!!) and Rebecca Taylor dress.  See the instagram video below to see all my purchases.
