Happy almost weekend!  This week was pretty normal, except yesterday I went to a Birchbox event for the launch of Caudalie Divine Legs. It's a new tinted body lotion to give legs a touch of sun without the use of a self-tanner. When we first arrived one of the employees showed us how it worked on our arms - look at the difference!  Then we got our other arm and legs done, such a fun product.  We also got to try the Divine Oil, Crushed Cabernet Scrub and Beauty Elixir.  I ended up buying a Caudalie Favorites pack that included the Divine Oil, Beauty Elixir, Lip Conditioner, Hand & Nail Cream and Makeup Remover. I can't wait to try it all out!

This weekend I'll be heading to a graduation party for one of my oldest friends.  He is the son of my parents best friends so I've known him since he was born (I'm only 3 years older than him though, ha ha.) We haven't seen them in a while so it should be fun, although there will be a lot of people so I'll be nervous.

Breaking news: I didn't wear a coat 3 days this week! That's right...it's getting warmer!  I was able to sneak by without a coat from Tues-Thurs by wearing an extra sweater for my walk and then talking it off at the office (Wednesday I didn't even need that.)  Hopefully it stays nice for my long weekend, I have today off and I'm taking Monday off to get some rest.  It's also Easter this Sunday, so I'll be with my Mom's side of the family.  But I see them almost every Sunday anyway so that's not really a big deal.

On Wednesday I went to a Madewell Shop into Spring event with some friends from work. Unfortunately I didn't buy anything. But I had good reason - I bought a new Macbook Pro on Tuesday! Woo! I got a refurbished 17in (because they don't make it anymore and I love the bigger screen) because my current Mac is getting old and slow (I also need more space, it only has 150GB of space, my new one will have 750.) I've been putting it off for far too long and I figured now was the time because who knows when they will run out of refurbished 17 inch models.  I can't wait for it to arrive, I love shiny new objects. ;)

UPDATE: Many of us in the Potter world (and general movie/tv/theatre lovers) learned this morning that Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon in Harry Potter) has passed away.  He was an amazing actor and will be missed. RIP Richard Griffiths.

I went a bit print/texture happy in this outfit. Snakeskin x 2 plus leopard print = Megan is crazy.  Normally when I wear these jeans I sport flats, but I decided I wanted to look super tall at work and threw on my Miu Mius.  I know platforms are going on their way out, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop wearing these babies! I searched too long and hard to find them, so I'm going to enjoy them.

Okay, enough of my singing, on to the outfit!  This is one of my purchases from the blogger meetup last month; it cost a whopping $10.  I have no idea what possessed me to purchase this, it isn't something I would normally buy, but I fell in love with it at the store.

Perhaps it's because it makes me feel like a witch, which subsequently helps me show my love for Harry Potter.  To keep with the Potter vibe I threw on my green snakeskin sweater (Slytherin! Even though I was sorted into Ravenclaw,) new lightening bolt ring and some Potter-esque necklaces.  I finished the look off with my awesome new Dolce & Gabbana mary janes that I got for a steal!

And I took a picture with one of my owl bookends because I'm a weirdo and didn't have any of my wands with me (yes...I have Hermione and Neville's wands, don't judge.)  I collect Harry Potter merchandise, my collection was featured in a book, be jealous.  Now that I think about it, I should have taken some shots with one of my books.

A couple weeks ago I did a post rounding up some of the ways I have styled my clothes to get the most bang for my buck.  Let's continue that post today, shall we?  As I stated in my first post, it is pointless to buy an item and not wear it often.  Cost per wear is one of the most important things I think about when buying an item.  For those of you that don't know what that is, here is a quick lesson: price of item ÷ by number of times worn = true cost

This philosophy doesn't always work, sometimes you need to spend more money for quality or a piece you really love (see: Chanel), but it is a great general rule of thumb.  Try to get the cost/wear as low as you can, if you make it under $1...AMAZING!  Thrifting is a great way to find items that will cost next to nothing in the long run. However, be careful not to be seduced by a really low price, if you won't wear it: don't buy it!

I think my best purchase to date has been my Marc by Marc Jacobs Baby Aidan purse (seen throughout the images above.) I bought it in July 2011 and it has rarely left my arm since.  It is my main work purse, so that's 5 days a week plus I use it a lot on weekends as well.  I do make sure to rotate my other bags in as well, but I use it 80% of the time.  My mom was shocked when I spent $320 on it, looks like the joke is on her now because I have probably gotten the cost down to at least 95¢ per wear ;)
Since I didn't share my Christmas outfits with you, I thought I would post some candid photos from my holiday break. As you can see I'm a child and like to make weird faces... There were some more amusing shots but they included family members and I like to keep them off the blog as much as possible. ;)

My mom is always snapping photos at family events (I do too sometimes) so we have a way to remember.  She makes beautiful scrapbooks as well. I used to make them, but now I just put photos in a regular album and keep them on an external hard drive. Does your family take lots of photos?

Good morning everyone, this is quite the rare occurrence: my This Week in Fashion post is going up LATE!  Why, do you ask? Because last night was my works Holiday party and I didn't get home until 3am...AHH!  But other than that this was a normal week; wake up, train, work, train, dinner, sleep.

Can you believe there's only one work week left until Christmas!!! Time is just flying by, crazy stuff! Today my mission is to wrap all my presents (and clean my house since during the week I have no time to clean.) Then tomorrow I'm going out to eat and to see The Hobbit with my roommate, YES (we are Lord of the Rings freaks)!!!

Today is the last day of November...where has the year gone?!  It's strange how as you get older the time goes by so quickly.  This week seems to be the week of burgundy, except for Thursday, ha ha. Actually, I take that back...my shoes were burgundy on Thursday too!

It is starting to get really cold out outside and signs of Christmas are beginning to appear all around! I love it!  Unfortunately our office seems to think it's Summer and we were dying of heat all week.

P.S. Don't forget to enter to win a box of chocolates from Epiphany Chocolates!

I mentioned last week that I had an awesome outfit planned for a new skirt and this is it! When I was looking through my closet to see what would go with this skirt (a bunch of things) this jumped out at me as what I wanted to try first! A bit risky going with two snakeskin pieces but I think the fact that they are different colors makes it work. What say you?! (I said that like Aragorn in Lord of the Rings for those of you who can hear it in your heads...no one? Oh well, I'm just crazy)

For some reason the Beatles song in my title ALWAYS gets stuck in my head. I find myself singing it in my head while I walk to the train.  That happens with a few songs, but this one is my mind's favorite...very odd. I was humming it while taking these photos so it's only fitting that it be the post's title.

I took these photos on Friday but I am wearing it today to work! Woohoo :)
