Since yesterday was the official first day of Spring it's only fitting to talk about hot Spring trends! This edition of Dress for Less is going to be a bit different from usual. I'm going to pick a few of the key trends for Spring 2011 and show you how you can get those looks for less in a series of posts! For this post I chose Color Blocking and Jewel Tones. Next up is Seventies, followed by Girly. If you guys like this you can suggest more spring trends for me to do this with! :)
Color Blocking and Jewel Tones: Color blocking is pretty simple, all you need to do is take a bunch of separates of different colors and wear them together (or a dress can work too). And it doesn't have to be with bright colors like these, but Jewel Tones are another trend so I figured I would kill two birds with one stone.
You can wear these pieces all together or mix them with other pieces in your wardrobe if it's too wild for you.

On March 13th I ordered four of Target's Go International Re-Release dresses. Sadly only the Proenza Schouler dress looked really good. The two Thakoon dresses were okay, but the thin strapped one was a bit weird on top. I did really like the black and white Thakoon, but I'm not sure if I want to keep it. The Tracy Feith dress was a little too tight so I couldn't zip it all the way, but it looked good from the front, ha ha. My sister and I ended up going to Target on Saturday and they had the Tracy Feith dress in the next size and it fit both of us...so we might keep it and share it.
I've put the ones I wasn't sure about on eBay and if they don't sell I'll decide what to do with them. The auction links are under the images. If you want to make an offer off ebay you can email me and I can remove the listing ;) They end on Tuesday so I should be able to ship them before I go on vacation (Depending on how fast you pay, I ship the same or next day)
And here is how I look in the dresses, these are just quick shots I had my sister take when we were trying them on (she got a Zac Posen one, but it didn't fit). The designer is under the image.
I also did a bit more shopping on Saturday, I got bright pieces (which my wardrobe is sorely lacking...sadly 2 will never be seen by eyes other than mine). I got 2 t-shirt bras at Victoria's Secret for $25 (I had a coupon, WOO!) I also got some coral Steve Madden wedges for $19.99. But I'm being bad this month...I bet I go over budget even though there's only 1 week left that will count toward my monthly spending. I haven't added the Target dresses to the sidebar yet, I'm waiting until they sell so I can figure out how much they really cost me.
(The money I spend in Florida doesn't count because I budgeted my vacation spending for Florida and London at the beginning of the year with the rest of my yearly budget)

Remember, if you haven't donated to help the victims of the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami yet, please do! I have a link to the American Red Cross donation page at the top of the sidebar you can use. A lot of bloggers are participating in For Japan with Love, which is a blogger day of silence, and asking readers to donate, so you can donate there too. I would have participated but I' found out about it too late.
This week was interesting, it started out being FREEZING and then yesterday it was like 64...CRAZY! Today is supposed to be in the 60s too, but cloudy. Wednesday it was rainy so I didn't feel like wearing anything...but I couldn't go to work naked so I threw on jeans and a big comfy sweater :D (Ignore my faces in some of these XD) Told you I would make up for not wearing any dresses last week ;)
I am SO sad, that first dress in my post yesterday (by Zimmermann) sold out and I was really contemplating getting it...I guess I should have bought it right away... :/ But it was $150... *sigh* well if anyone sees it anywhere let me know! P.S. I got to 700 followers, WOWIE!! I never thought I would even hit 100 :p

Update: Check out a fully styled outfit in this post, and see what I wore here!
As I've mentioned a few times I'm heading to London in July with seven other girls, we're mainly going there to do crazy Harry Potter fan stuff but we'll also be taking a full day London tour, some shopping, going to Paris for a day and we're also going to High Tea at the Ritz! I STILL haven't decided what to wear, I could wear something I have but I'm using this as an excuse to buy a really fun, pretty dress! I'm thinking of going with a floral or bright colored dress, but I'm not sure yet.
Here are some ideas, the only bad thing that is the price so I'll be searching for similar dresses. But who knows, I may be bad and splurge on one of them (one of the cheaper ones of course). Or I may wear one of the Target designer re-released dresses (I ordered a bunch last weekend and I'm waiting for them to arrive to see which ones I want to keep, haha)! Click on the image of the dress to purchase or see the designer. Which one would you get?! I think the first is my favorite, or the green one *drools*

Who else loves Gwyneth Paltrow? She is such a great actress, has wonderful fashion sense and is so gorgeous! I must admit that I haven't seen many of her films, but my favorites are Emma
and Shakespeare in Love
, I guess I have a thing for period pieces ;). She looks AMAZING in the March 2011 UK Issue of Harper's Bazaar. What do you think? (click to see them larger)
P.S. I also love this song she sang in the movie Duets with Huey Lewis, I've never seen the movie but I used to hear the song on the radio all the time.

I LOVE seeing the detail of a collection, its amazing how much work goes in to every single piece of a garment. A co-worker (who has a food blog) showed me this video from the Chanel App the other day and it is AMAZING!
And since we're talking about Chanel here are some looks I liked from the Fall 2011 collection, this collection isn't my favorite but I do like that Karl did something different and dark. I like the pieces, just not all the styling, ha ha.

I may make this a regular feature of the blog, but I haven't decided yet, ha ha. What do you think, would you like to see some details (not just in fashion shows)?
