Before we get to the post, the winner of the Pixie Knitwear giveaway is comment number 29, Emily of Ruby Slipper Journeys!! Congrats!!! (I'll be emailing you soon with more details!) [a bunch of people entered after it was over :( )
UPDATE: Be sure to check out a feature/interview with me over at Walk of Fashion, I'm a Girl of the Blogosphere! :D

This past Saturday I went to my first ever blogger meetup!! I met with Lydia, Courtney, Amber and Nnenna!! We met up in New Haven and took some outfit photos around the Yale campus and then headed to Barcelona (a restaurant) to eat and talk about fashion and how Nnenna and I both hate cheese. The girls also had a lovely time trying to make me finish my whole glass of Sangria (I'm not much of a drinker.) Then we headed to a bar to talk a bit more before leaving to go home. As Lydia said so perfectly in her post, we "[...] talked for hours with both the intimacy of old friends, and the awkwardness of meeting someone for the first time."
Here are some photos from the night, mine came out like garbage so I stole some from the other girls too ;) Make sure to check the other girl's blogs for more photos (Lydia, Nnenna and Courtney already posted!) I apparently didn't get the memo that everyone was dressing in black and white :p Click them to enlarge.
I'm wearing my Calvin Klein dress, Kenneth Cole Reaction belt, Mulberry for Target bag, Forever 21 turtle ring [similar by noir], Michael Kors watch and Burberry heels [similar pair by Burberry] and Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses!

Today is Father's Day in the US! So here's to all the wonderful Father's out there who teach us girls how to drive, fix up our cars and scare our boyfriends away (not that mine has had to deal with boys yet). Make sure to give all your dads a big hug today! :)
Happy Father's Day Daddy!!!! :D

Another week gone, another week closer to my London trip! OH MY GOSH! Only 2 weeks from today, I need to pick out all my outfits for the trip this weekend *freaks out* Moving on...this week was the same as usual, nice weather mixed with gross weather, working like a maniac at work, and tons of new Harry Potter news.
Speaking of Harry Potter, have you all seen the new trailer that was released last night? If you haven't I suggest you head over here to watch it...it is AMAZING! I cried, but that's not unusual, I've been crying for all of the Potter trailers for the last 2 movies. I can't even imagine how I am going to handle seeing this in theaters. It's so exciting but it's also very depressing because it means the end of Harry Potter...I'll have nothing to look forward to anymore, ha ha :(
Also, there is no Friday outfit photo this week, I took a picture last night for what I was going to wear and when I woke up it was pouring so my outfit was a no go, I didn't have time to take a new one before leaving for work (perhaps I'll post it next week)

Here is the second edition of Favorite Things, this time it is a non-fashion item! When I was little my sister got a book called Baba Yaga and Vasilisa the Brave. It quickly became one of our favorite books and we would read it together every.single.night! It took us hours, which I find really funny now since its not that long. One of the main reasons I love this book now is the illustrations by Kinuko Y. Craft, they are simply amazing!
It is basically a Russian version of Cinderella but with one major difference, there is an evil witch woman in addition to the evil stepmother. I won't spoil anything by telling you the full story, but here areis a description from the publisher's website:

Sweet, lovely Vasilisa lives with her jealous stepmother and stepsisters on the edge of a dark forest inhabited by the evil witch Baba Yaga. One night the stepmother sends Vasilisa to visit Baba Yaga, an errand from which the gentle girl has little chance of returning alive. If you want to read it or just look at the gorgeous pictures you can order it on Amazon. Here are the first few pages, click to enlarge them.

Here's the second edition of Perfect Basics! Today I'm going with a "classic" (*see below) item that many women lust over: The Black Christian Louboutin pump! There are many different styles of these so whenever I save up all the money for these babies I'll have to go to a store and try them all on to see what looks best. But just looking online I have fallen in love with these Leather Platform Pumps, they are just PERFECT! The price on the other hand, at $795, is not so perfect. *sigh*
I'm not sure I'm quite ready to drop this much money on a pair of shoes yet, but they will last a long time and they are timeless so I can wear them until I am an old woman (except they are a bit tall so I'm not sure about that...I could get the non-platform version though). These are definitely going to have to be on a MAJOR sale before I buy them, but a girl can dream.
But on the other hand, I could settle for these gorgeous Miu Mius that are $200 less, but in this case I think I may want to spend the extra for the Louies. I can get something else Miu Miu ;)
*UPDATE: I should note that when I do these perfect basics posts they are more specified towards me and what I tend to wear. Your basics may be totally different than mine, and that's what is so great about fashion! :D P.S. Check out this article on "Classics" That Emily sent me ;)

My friend Koatha requested that I find a cheaper version of the Free People skirt that Vicky from Bikinis and Passports wore in this post, but as a dress. This was another difficult one, as always, ha ha...you guys sure know how to stump me. I'm not sure what the skirt retails for so I just made sure it was under $100CAD. I think the Forever 21 dress is the closest match, and it just happens to be the cheapest too, yay! (I might suggest DIYing some sequins and stuff on it to get it even closer...)
Before I get to the cheap matches, check out this amazing Anna Sui dress that is REALLY close, except for the fact that it is black. It was just added to the Net-a-Porter End of Season Sale yesterday.
Forever 21 $29.80CAD
ASOS #1 $79.67CAD
ASOS #2 (Vero Moda) $49.57
ASOS #3 (Lipsy) $97.38

I'm very excited about today's post and I'm sure you guys will be too! Pixie Knitwear asked if I would be interested in a giveaway for my readers, so of course I said yes! They were also kind enough to send me this adorable Bow Tunic! It is SO soft, I actually want to sleep in it, but then no one would be able to see how awesome it is ;) Click the photos for full size. I'm also going to post some extra pics on Facebook.

This week was soooo hot, but it actually wasn't seeing as it was only the high 80s-90s. When we get further into the summer I am going to die! But at least my office is air conditioned. This was a pretty good week. On Monday I decided to take a picture with my purse, I don't usually since I use the same one every day but you all haven't seen it in a while. Every night except Wednesday I did my 125 pages of Harry Potter reading so I can finish all the books by the time I leave for London (and no, this is not the first time I've read them, probably the 15th+...)
On Wednesday I was a bad girl and went to Lord & Taylor with my mom. For those of you that follow me on Twitter or Facebook you will know that I bought a Michael Kors watch, which, ironically I had just posted about that morning! Its not the exact one I featured but it is pretty similar. I paid $198 instead of $265 because of my 25% off coupon! Then we went to get some links taken off, it was supposed to be like $12 but the guy doing it just let us go after he did it. My mom says it's because he thought I was cute ;)
