[See what I did with my title? I changed the title of Night at the Museum...I'm soooooo funny, ha ha]
Yesterday I took an unplanned day off work to go to New York City with my aunt, cousin and little (15 year old...TALL) brother.  They lost power so they stayed at my parent's house for a few days. We intended to go to the Natural History Museum and the Central Park Zoo but we only had time for the museum.  We walked all the way from Grand Central and it took an two and a half hours...we did stop for lunch though.

For those of you that have seen Night at the Museum, the actual museum is nothing like it, they made it much smaller in the movie.  They do have many of the same exhibits though, but I sadly couldn't find Attila the Hun, one of my favorite characters in the movie.  Enough blabbing, here are a few photos from the day! I even made sure to take some fashion related photos!

I'm off on a spur of the moment trip to NYC today! My boss was nice enough to let me take a day off even though it was last minute.  I'm going with my aunt, cousin and little brother and we're going to the Museum of Natural History and perhaps the Central Park Zoo. I'm going to try to be a good blogger and take lots of photos!

Today I'm posting Spring 2012 collections with neutral color palettes. Starting off we have the wonderful Donna Karan, I usually prefer her DKNY collections but this season I totally fell in love with her namesake collection.  I am so obsessed with prints lately and this collection was full of great new prints.  It also showed tons of color-blocking which is a trend I really enjoy, I need to do it more often with my looks.

Here we have Michael Kors, another favorite of mine.  This collection was total safari chic! I LOVE the prints, colors, textures, cool sandals and pretty much everything about it.  I really want the bathing suit on the top right, the shape and print are great; I'm on the hunt for the perfect one piece since I don't really like bikinis but I can never find a good one, so I'm stuck with bikinis for now ;)

And, of course, we can't forget my favorite designer Marc Jacobs!  This collection was so pretty but sadly way too dressy for my lifestyle.  The following three looks are my favorites, especially the first dress. I would LOVE to have an occasion to wear it.
First of all, if you haven't seen The Ugly Dachshund, shame on you! Second, if so, check out this post where I talk a little about it. Moving on, Fran Garrison, played by Suzanne Pleshette, has wonderful style in this movie.Yesterday, when I was checking out Net-a-Porter's What's New section, this dress SCREAMED Fran, so I had to do an outfit recreation for us all to enjoy!

This is such a classic look that has spanned the tests of time and is still perfectly in style. A gorgeous LBD, black pumps and simple jewelry in the form of pearl earrings. This outfit is very expensive, but you can definitely find cheaper pieces, perhaps I'll do that later this week if I can't take outfit pictures...
Dress: RED Valentino $1150
Pumps: Jimmy Choo $495
Pearl Earrings: Kate Spade New York $45
[the dress link is being a little wonky, ii'll try to fix it later]
I've tried to group the collections into similar themes/trends, so this post is the black and white collections! First is Givenchy, I've never been a huge fan of Givenchy but the last few collections have been changing my mind, all these looks are super cool and I could totally see myself wearing these looks, even the all white one which is saying something since I never wear white.

Next up is one of my favorite designers, Jason Wu! Jason never disappoints, his looks are always pretty, polished and a great mix of girly and edgy.  I would wear the whole collection, especially the 8 looks below.

Finally we have Pringle of Scotland, this collection which is so perfectly wearable!  I know fashion week is usually about grand shows with crazy pieces but I always love seeing collections where I can wear the looks right off the runway, and with Pringle of Scotland I know that's what I'm going to get.

A couple weeks ago, Misikko asked if I would like to review one of their Blow Dryers. I got to try out the Hana HANAair Professional Hair Dryer; but they also carry other items such as a CHI Hair Dryer or Straightener. I'm not usually one to blow dry my hair because 1. It takes FOREVER because I have a LOT of hair and 2. My hair is always really frizzy for some reason when I do it. So normally I let my hair dry on its own.  But when Misikko asked me to do a review I figured I would try it out, it is a "Professional Hair Dryer" after-all, what was there to lose.  So here is a lovely progression of me blow drying my hair...excuse my sweater...it used to be my little brothers and it is my pj top ;)

1. Brushing out the millions of knots

2. Begin blow drying...

3. Blow dry some more!

4. And we're done!

My hair came out SO soft and shiny and it wasn't frizzy like it usually is when I use a blow dryer. But the best part was it only took me 15 minutes, probably less because I was taking pictures!! You do not understand how fast that is for me, usually it takes much longer!  This blow dryer comes with an awesome directional concentrator so I could blow dry my hair better in sections. [I didn't get a picture of that though, but it is in the product photo at the top]. And you can blow dry your hair with cool or warm air, I chose warm because my house is freezing.  I also used the HANA Shine Shield Thermal Protectant which is great because it isn't slimy when you use it and it protects your hair from the heat of blow drying (or straightening, but I don't straighten my hair).

In short, this blow dryer is a keeper! I totally recommend it. I am definitely going to be blow drying my hair more often!

This post was sponsored but my opinions are my own.
I am so excited for this weekend! I have the house all to myself (since last night) and I'm planning on having a Halloween movie marathon and watching all my Halloween movies! I have to go grocery shopping first though, I'm running out of food! And I'll need tons of candy to pig out on while watching too.  AND I have to make some French Macarons for our work Halloween party on Monday. That's just for Saturday though, Sunday I'm going to my Grandmother's (probably...) or hanging around the house again.

It was quite chilly this week, my hands are freezing cold as I type this...but I'll survive, after-all the cold allows me to wear fun sweaters, tights and coats. SO excited to bring out my favorite jacket again (a purple DKNY Pea Coat I got last year for my birthday)!

This week I did something quite different with my outfit posts. I recreated outfits by different bloggers, it was hard to choose what outfits to recreate. Partly because I love so many outfits and partly because I didn't have the pieces to do them. I even did the same poses because I'm crazy like that. What do you think, did I succeed?!

Today we have a Dress for Less requested by Jaymee! She wanted me to find this Fall 2011 Jason Wu dress in a bright color with the slit!  I tried to find inexpensive options but I threw in a gorgeous expensive one too. It was also hard to find dresses with slits that still had the correct look down at the bottom...but I assume a tailor would be able to add a slit, maybe. The colors got a bit more muted when I saved them, so go to the product pages (linked below) to see actual color.
Marchesa via The Outnet $2090
Robert Rodriguez via The Outnet $358
ML Monique Lhuillier via Nordstrom $198
Yesterday's outfit was inspired by Natalie of Natalie Off Duty, one of my favorite looks of hers! It is such a nice basic look that anyone can wear.  I decided to wear one of my favorite blazers, it is by Moschino Cheap & Chic and I got on eBay last year for a steal!  This is my first time wearing this crazy scarf by Yarnz, I got it as a gift from Net-a-Porter at their Affiliate Tea in July.  The print is quite odd, seeing as it has designers' faces all over it, but when its on you can't tell. I did have a bit of fun with it in my photos though...I could be a designer ghost for Halloween!

Accidentally got a car in the first shot, but the other shots like this were bad. Click to enlarge

I got these vintage boots off eBay a couple years ago and didn't wear them much at first. I liked them, but that was back when I was in college, a Closet Fashionista still dressing to conform...which is how this blog got its title! I decided I was going to come out of my closet and dress how I wanted ;) So now I wear them a lot more but I've never photographed them really well for the blog so here are some more shots.
I mentioned on Friday that this week I was going to try to recreate a different bloggers outfit every day of the week! I started off yesterday with an outfit inspired by Jen of her waise choice! I had actually been meaning to wear this sweater with this skirt for a while anyway so it worked out great!  I probably won't do dedicated outfit posts for each outfit but as usual I will post them on Friday (next to the outfit I recreated!)  Not all of them will be this dead on sadly, ha ha. Click all the photos to enlarge (as usual)
