Lately I've been very inspired by 70s style, and I finally succumbed last weekend when I went to Marshall's and bought a pair of Free People Super 70's Wideleg jeans.  I don't have much to wear with them in the way of 70s pieces (I have plenty of "normal" stuff) so I've been searching around for some inspiration!  [I do have one piece that I think they'll look awesome with, but that will need to wait for normal weather.]

So, without further ado, here is some 70s inspiration! There is obviously more to 70s style than flares but they are my current obsession. The first two are of the actual jeans I bought.

First of all, I want to say Happy 21st Birthday to my brother!! (not that he reads my blog) He makes me feel so old, we're only 3 years apart but thinking about the fact that I have 21 and (almost) 16 year old brothers is depressing!

Anywayyyy, ever since I bought these amazing Zara Floral print shorts I've been dreaming up ways to wear them. The problem is I don't have any of the pieces to do it! I've been out shopping a few times but never seem to find the exact pieces I want.  So today I decided to make my dream outfit, this is one of the ways I'd love to wear them. I went all out with a Mary Katrantzou top, so gorgeous! But I am most likely going to wear it more simply and ease into print mixing. I also tried to use the accessories to pull out some of the colors in the prints, like the Miu Miu heels that I've been obsessed with for months, such a pretty color!
Shorts - Zara
Top: Mary Katrantzou
Sandals: Miu Miu
Bag: Michael by Michael Kors
Watch: Nixon
Necklace: Rosantica

Other, simpler, top options:
Top: Equipment (The Outnet) $87.50 [regular $250]
Top: Diane von Furstenberg (The Outnet) $89.10 [Regular $198]
I awoke bright and early at 8am on Saturday morning, which was thoroughly depressing, because I can no longer sleep in. It's quite annoying when your body gets used to waking up at a certain time, isn't it. Since I was awake I thought I would take a trip to Marshall's to browse, which as we all know means spend tons of money.  I tried on 10 things and walked out with 2 plus a cute turtle watering can.  I bought a pair of Free People flares (that totally reminded me of Carrie of this free bird) for $40 [regular price $108], and Jolt snake skin pants for $20. I shouldn't have gotten the FP jeans but I loved them so much!
I decided to wear my new Marc by Marc Jacobs tee and go for a model off duty look while shopping!  I am still searching for a larger size in this jacket but I only ever see size 4 and 2, so I will continue to wear this one unbuttoned! Sorry for the photo spam but I couldn't choose which ones to get rid of.

Jacket: Marc by Marc Jacobs (eBay) $80, Tee: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Marshall's) $25, Jeans: Free People (Gilt Groupe) gift card, Flats: Chaps $8, Bag: Chanel, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Rings: old and c/o OASAP, Watch: Michael Kors, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) gift card

And here are some shots from my shopping adventure.
Another icky, rainy week down, hopefully no more to go! I hate the part of Spring when the weather is so unpredictable.  Why do I always seem to talk about weather? There are plenty of other things to discuss on here...  For example: MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!!!!!  Yes, friends, it is unofficial Star Wars day! I think I may have a marathon of the original trilogy tonight to celebrate...maybe even throw in Episode 3 for good measure ;) [not that I don't also enjoy 1 and 2, but 3-6 are the best]  Are you all shocked to find out I'm such a geek...I hope not because I like to think my geek-aura is visible to all who read my blog or tweets...

There is no Wednesday outfit this week because I was home sick and I doubt you want to see my pajamas. (If you were wondering its old gymnastics sweatpants and my younger brother's old abercrombie sweater...so comfy.) This weekend I have the house to myself so I'm planning on watching tons of movies I have recorded (or rent Thor and Captain America so I can see Avengers eventually...) I might also take a run to Marshall's, but that could be dangerous for my wallet, so I should avoid that.

[I need to find a new pose...haha]

I haven't featured a favorite item in a while, so I thought I would share some detail shots of my Steve Madden 'James' Wedges! I got them a couple months ago, with a DSW coupon, and I already wear them a ton. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can wear them tightless with dresses/skirts! A lot of you guys have commented on how much you like these, so if you like them you can buy them here.

I love the colors, they go with pretty much anything.  Oddly enough these are my only shoes that have purple in them (besides purple flats that I can't bear to part with even though they don't fit.)  For those of you that are new here, you should know that I have an unhealthy obsession with purple, I can't go more than a day without wearing it. They are surprisingly comfortable at 7 inches tall (2" platform, 5" covered wedge). But they are thin so be careful you don't roll an ankle...

Here are some of the ways I've worn them since I bought them:

Let's talk about consigning.  Don't know what it is? Well Tiffany of Lady G's Closet (short for Lady Gryffindor, which makes me a fan right away) is here to explain the process!  Lady G's Closet is an online consignment shop run out of New York City. Consigning is a great way to recycle clothes you no longer want or need, someone else gets to enjoy it and you get space in your closet for more fashionable clothes (maybe even something from Lady G's!) Make sure to check them out at www.ladygscloset.com!

For those who have never done it, how does consigning work? Consignment is loosely defined as a consigner (a person looking to sell an item), signing a contract with a consignee (a person or business), to put the item up for sale for a fee. Traditionally, this was done in brick and mortar stores. The items would have exposure limited to the people that walked into the store or business. However, many of these traditional consignment shops have started increasing their reach online. What makes Lady G's Closet different is that we are completely online. There isn't a storefront that we work out of. Our reach is unlimited because we only exist online. Our items are purchased by shoppers worldwide. When someone is interested in consigning with us, we give them 2 options. If they are in the NYC area, we offer to come and pick the items up from you. However, if this is not an option, we can arrange virtual ways of doing the initial analysis and then send shipping labels to you so that the items can be on their way to us. Within 7-10 days your items can be listed and available for you to view and track. After the items get sold, a check will be in the mail on it's way to you and that's it!

What do you look for in the items you consign? When looking at potential items for consignment, I look for those that bring instant excitement and a feeling of joy. I have to see that the item was well respected in return for the joy it gave its previous owner.  I love coming across a rare, wonderful, piece that can easily grab the attention of potential buyers. But don't get me wrong, this does not necessarily mean that the item must be very expensive. I try to appeal to shoppers like myself that love mixing both high-end items with great lower price fashionable items. In short, I look for great high quality fashionable items that for the everyday diva.

Today I thought I would show you how you can use items from her store and make a totally fashionable outfit!  You can see all the items available by going to their website. I chose a Badgley Mischka dress and Uniqlo cardigan!
Dress: Badgley Mischka via Lady G's Closet $325
Cardigan: Uniqlo via Lady G's Closet $19.99
Heels: ASOS $39.99
Watch: ASOS $39.99
Necklace: Orelia $21.81

Finally, I also asked why she started her business and she says, "I have always loved shopping. It was always less of a planned event and more of an everyday search. However, with limited closet space (and a limited budget), I would have to periodically give my items away or sell a couple online in preparation for the new items of the season. After some not-so-great life events, I realized that I might have to get rid of a lot more than I could have imagined for financial reasons. (Without the sob story, this included a brand new designer wedding dress among other things.) When my friends started hearing about my venture, they asked me to help them get rid of some clothing and shoes for them too. They usually would either give things away or hold onto them with the intention of selling them but never got around to it. It was then that a light bulb went off in my head and I decided right then that I would start my own business...the rest is history as they say."
Confession: I haven't worn this outfit yet... But I couldn't wait to show you guys this awesome blouse I got from OASAP and a picture of the shirt by itself wouldn't do it justice!  The shirt is a little sheer but I'm more modest/shy so I wore nude under it. If you're brave wear a black bra and it's super sexy, I MAY force myself to try it out!  As I posted yesterday you have to be careful when wearing animal prints, you don't want to go overboard. Another tip for those of you that are nervous about wearing leopard: pair it with like colors, it makes it blend in more.  But if you're leopard crazy, like me, wear it with anything you like.

OASAP has so many awesome, on trend products at great prices AND they have free shipping! Also,if you sign up with an account you get 20% off your first purchase, so check out the site!

I bought these gorgeous Guess sandals at Marshall's for $40 on Sunday, they are replacing my Target pair that are dying... :( I also bought an adorable Marc Jacobs tee and no name sweater while I was there. The sweater is SO comfortable and the tee is one of those "I don't care how I look today" tees [see: Camille Over the Rainbow, one of my blog crushes], I've always wanted a nice slouchy white tee and this one has cute little eyeballs on it...score!

Shirt c/o OASAP, Skirt: Old Navy hand-me-down, Heels: Guess (Marshalls) $40, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls) $20, Bracelet & Necklaces: borrowed from mom, Rings: old and c/o OASAP, Watch: Michael Kors, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

And here is me being a crazy person, ha ha.
It is a jungle out there, so why not showcase your wild side with an eye-catching animal print? Whether you prefer bold leopard or graphic zebra, there’s only one pattern to purchase this season. Here are our tips on how to wear this statement story…

Do: Flatter Your Body Shape
The trick to making animal prints work is to wear them so they accentuate your best features. If you have an hourglass waist, a snakeskin belt over a plain dress will complement your frame; if you have great legs, try a statement mini skirt to make them look fabulous.
Do: Dress in Moderation
Animal print may be all the rage, but it can look a little distasteful its worn head-to-toe. Go neutral with your shoes and other accessories to ensure you don’t go overboard. In fashion it’s all about ‘less is more’.
Do: Try Something Bold
Fashion is all about reinventing trends and finding out what works for you. So be a bit adventurous and try mixing and matching fabrics. Understated knitted dresses can be livened up with the addition of accessories in zebra, leopard or tiger print; if you are wearing a printed dress, why not opt for glossy black belt, shoes or clutch?
Do not: Go Overboard
Never mix two prints that clash - wear a single print at a time as too many spots or stripes will appear trashy. Remember the ‘less is more’ rule, always.

Do not: Try to be too Sexy
With animal prints, looking sexy is only a matter of attitude, but remember to avoid lace, diamantes, and other add-ons that make it look like a Halloween costume. Just pair this trend with an edgy attitude and some simple accessories and you are ready to go!

What an icky week! It was rainy, chilly and dreary for the better part of the week but there were some moments of sunshine mixed in. I tried not to let the weather affect my clothing choices like it usually does and I think I did a pretty good job of not dressing drab. I also ate out far too much this week! A diner on Tuesday, Ruby Tuesday's on Thursday and we're getting something junky today at work (maybe Duchess hot dogs...YUM!)  This weekend I get to plant some flowers my parents bought be (if it's not rainy) and I have TONS of magazines to read [2 months worth]...I've had no time lately! But I WILL get through most of them this weekend.

I also NEED to find more of these Free People skinny jeans so I can buy more and have them forever. I have loved them since the moment I bought them on Gilt Groupe but that obviously means that they are going to be hard to find again. I want the exact model, not a similar pair. (meaning this was a pointless ramble since you guys don't know what it is...I think they were called "5 Pocket Skinny Jean in midnight indigo")
