I spent a whopping $7.25 on my thrifting adventure with Lydia [outfit post here]. $1 on a nice silk skirt, 25 cents on a Hercules plate and $6 on a really cool printed maxi dress! Hopefully I am able to style them well...  One of the stores also had an old SEGA game I used to be obsessed with (Sonic!), if only they had the actual gaming system too, I would have gotten them! *sigh*

It was so nice spending most of the day outside!  Anyway, enough of my blabbing, here are some photos from the day.

And now Mr Cranky Seagull says goodbye. :)
Last Friday I met up with Lydia so she could show me her favorite thrifting haunts. We also had a lovely lunch and took outfit photos at the beach! We then proceeded to spend a few hours enjoying the perfect weather at said beach.  There were also some very odd boys, they were trying to catch crabs and I overheard them saying, "Oh yea...they're definitely cute," oh boys, how they amuse me.

It really was the perfect day, it wasn't too hot or too cold and there was a nice breeze at the beach!  I hope Summer is here to stay this time, I don't think I can handle any more full weeks of rain... Tomorrow I'll show you what I bought on our adventure as well as a couple more photos from the day. :)

I may post some more on Facebook because they all came out so good! I had such a hard time narrowing them down!

Yesterday I decided to play dress up and style a few pieces that don't get much wear.  I didn't actually wear this in public but I wanted to experiment. I'm going to try to play with my clothes more often now that I don't go into an office.  First, The Valentino jacket I got for $2 in The Outnet birthday sale last year. I've only worn it a handful of times because it's a little big. Next up is a REALLY old skirt from Aeropostale that I got to wear on Easter when I was in 8th or 9th grade. I haven't worn it in years, and now that I finally did I think I need to retire it. It's a teeeeeeny bit too short.

Lastly, my awesome Alexander Wang Freja booties, these aren't exactly misfits, but I haven't worn them in a few months.  I wore these a lot through Fall and Winter but now that we're into Spring and Summer I'm finding it hard to style them. I'm going to try my hardest to wear them at least a couple times over the next few months before they come back into full swing in Fall. (except one is a little tight because one foot is bigger than the other! GRRR! They fit fine with tights though.)

Jacket: Valentino (The Outnet Birthday Sale) $2, Skirt: Aeropostale old, Booties: Alexander Wang (The Outnet) birthday gift, Sunglasses: Michael Kors (Marshalls) $20, Watch: Michael Kors, Harry Potter iPhone Case c/o Zazzle

You guys have probably noticed by now that I don't really wear a lot of jewelry. When I first started the blog I never wore it but now I at least wear my watch, 2 rings and 31 Bits bracelets. What you don't know is that I have amassed a nice collection of old jewelry over the years. I know you all probably have 10 times the amount of jewelry I have but I never wear it so it doesn't really matter, ha ha. I am going to try to start wearing it more often, but we'll see how that goes.

Warning: There is a lot of text in this post because I wanted to explain the pieces...
So today I decided to show you some of the pieces I've been handed down from various family members (mostly my mom and Grandmothers).  But first is a jewelry box my Grandfather made me (he made one for all the girls).
These next two aren't exactly jewelry, but they are still heirlooms and pretty.  The first is a watch/pendant/thing that was my Grandmother's (my Dad's mom) and the second is her perfume.  I got both of these when she passed away over 10 years ago.  My mom, aunts, sister and I went though her jewelry and each got to pick out items we liked. I chose the watch because it was cool, and her perfume so I could always smell it when I missed her.
Next up are some rings! I bought the one with the opal and green stone in Rhode Island when I was a little.  It was from this awesome store in Newport, Geoclassics, where everything was made from natural stones. We had gone there the previous year and I only had enough money to buy a stone egg (for $7,) so the next year I saved up and spent a whopping $35 on the ring. The other three are my Mother's, two of which I wear every day.
Now earrings!  Almost all of these were from my late Grandmother.  The diamond/CZ crosses are from one of my Aunt's, and the hearts with CZ are another gift.  Then the plain diamonds at the bottom are what I wear every day, I rarely take them out.  They were a gift from my Grandmother (my Mom's mom, who is still alive.) She bought them for me when I was a senior in high school because I was "retiring" from gymnastics.  She got them for me as a reward for my dedication, I was a gymnast for 13 years and was only stopping because the college I was going to didn't have a team.

These last two were bought when I was younger on various vacations. I believe I bought the necklace in Rhode Island and it is made out of tons of purple shells (my favorite color!) It fits more like a choker now so I don't wear it as much. And I know you all recognize the other item...a mood ring!!! Who didn't have one of these when they were a pre-teen?
Good day, sunshines! How are you all doing this fine, almost Summer, morning?  I'm really enjoying this working for myself thing. I wake up, do blog stuff, do some freelance, maybe cook dinner, watch tons of tv, and sing oldies very loudly, mostly by James Taylor and the Beatles (hence the title of this post...) Today I'm going shopping with my mommy to help her find a bag for my cousin's wedding (which is a month from tomorrow!) and I am going to try to resist getting something for myself. Yesterday I ran to the grocery store to buy some ingredients for Stromboli (see instagram): pizza dough, mozzarella, pepperoni, salami and poppy seeds!

I threw on this awesome sweater dress I scored a long time ago from Twitch Vintage for $17. I love a dress that needs no accessories, and this one is just that. The print is so fun so all I did was throw on Chaps flats, a skinny belt and grabbed Arnold (my Marc by Marc Jacobs purse.)  I did put on my usual rings 31 Bits bracelets, and Michael Kors watch too.
(don't ask about the pinwheel, I was in a weird mood...)
