I wore this last week to go out to dinner with my best friends. I went for a pretty casual look since we were just going to be stuffing our faces. But I did put on the awesome new House of Harlow necklace I picked up at the trunk show South Moon Under had last week! Isn't it cool?! I also wore a super cool bag I won from Tiffany last month, it's a crossbody but you can take off each of the sections and use them as a clutch.
Tee: Everlane, Jeans: American Eagle, Wedges: Simply Vera Wang (Kohl's), Crossbody bag: Wink and Winn (giveaway), Necklace: House of Harlow 1960 "Multi Arrowhead Necklace" (South Moon Under Trunk Show), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports & Mom's
Since I had time to kill before going out, I tried out the Jane Iredale Starter Kit that Vogue sent me. It was really simple to use, especially with the cute instruction illustrations on the box. I used Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener first; it went on very smooth and not at all greasy. I followed that up with Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder since I wanted it to be light (I don't normally wear foundation). It went on super easy and isn't heavy at all. Then I completed my regular makeup (eyeshadow, blush, mascara and lipstick) and finished up with the POMMISST Hydration Spray. It gave a nice freshness to the end of my routine and I applied it a couple times during the night when I needed some hydration.
You might notice something else different about my makeup in the photos above - I did a red lip!!! I was brave and used Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil (in 69) and Revolution Lipstick (in F-Bomb); also from Vogue. It was surprisingly easy to apply and looked great, I may try it again soon if I feel brave enough.

Yes, more Emma Stone! But, what can I say, she's one of my girl crushes (along with another Emma...Watson.) These are from Vogue US May 2014. Can I have all the outfits, yes, even the gown that I'd never wear.

I wore this on Sunday to meet up with Lydia and Annie for brunch, we were supposed to have a larger group but sadly a bunch of the girls had to cancel. We didn't get a group picture of the three of us since Annie had to leave a bit early and we ran out of time. We had delicious food and then went shopping at Village Vogue Boutique. I was hoping I wouldn't find anything but I ended up trying on a Burberry jacket (too big), Emanuel Ungaro jacket (liked, but was expensive) and a batik clothing set that I bought to wear as pajamas.
But just as I thought I was home free and wasn't going to use one of my five items in the French Wardrobe Challenge I saw a snake print skirt with a matching vest. It was 60% (bringing the 2 pieces down to $23) off so I bought it and haven't decided if I'm keeping it and using it as one of my pieces, or if I'll resell it. It may be too weird to wear both pieces together so I'll most likely just wear the skirt.
I wore my Carven Paris Map Print dress again, definitely glad I bought it as one of my five items! This is the third time I wore it, I styled it for a wedding shower and Easter already.

As they say, April Showers bring May Flowers. Let's hope they all start popping up soon! We have a few in our yard, but not many. How gorgeous are these shots from Harper's Bazaar UK?

Last Thursday I headed to Westport for South Moon Under's Grand Opening/House of Harlow Trunk Show with Lydia. I walked away with two gorgeous House of Harlow necklaces (one I bought, the other was in my gift bag) and had my eyebrows threaded at the Benefit Brow Bar - super cool! I also tried on this Eight Sixty top, but resisted buying it because I'm not sure I want it to be one of my "five" for the French Wardrobe Challenge.
I'm wearing my newest top from Marshalls here that I bought along with the other pieces in my confidence post. I definitely think it's going to get lots of use this Summer! And without even realizing it a lot of this outfit is Marshalls, but that will happen when half of your closet comes from the store. What can I say, I love getting deals on clothes, it makes me happy.

[Would have used this on Thursday, but technically this is the outfit I wore on May 1st ;) ]
Top: Solitare c/o Marshalls, Jeans: Free People (Marshalls), Sweater: American Eagle, Wedges: Burberry (The Outnet clearance sale), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter), Sunglasses: Etienne Aigner c/o Marshalls, Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports & Mom's
I'm linking up with some of my fellow Marshalls Project Fab members to show off some of our Marshalls finds! You can join too with the widget below:

This shoot, from Vogue Paris, is titled Un Week-End, so what a perfect title since it is currently Friday. We are headed straight for the weekend, so here's what I would love to be doing (and wearing)

Here is one of my typical weekend looks (minus the wedges): sweater, jeans, ponytail and no makeup. I don't generally wear much makeup every day, but on the weekends I'm usually far too lazy to take the 5 minutes to put on blush, eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. It's good for you to give your skin a break from time to time anyway.
I wore this on Sunday where we had a little bit of rain, but not as much as Saturday. There was still a chill in the air so I doubled up on my sweaters. I was in such a lazy mood that I even forgot to put on my rings and watch! *gasp*

Grey Sweater: French Connection c/o Marshalls, Leopard Sweater: Tahari (TJ Maxx), Jeans: Current/Elliott (The Outnet), Wedges: R2 (DSW), Bag: Chanel, Necklace c/o Emitations

Month two of the French Wardrobe challenge is complete! I did well this month and only bought one item, and it was an awesome necklace by Indulgems (seen in this post). So I still have 4 of my Five items up for grabs - wonder what they'll be. I'm considering using a gift card I won to buy these Ancient Greek Sandals because they mix my love of the brand with Harry Potter. Yes, I know the lightening bolt is representing Zeus, but who says it can't also be Harry.
Now, you might be saying - but what about all that Marshalls stuff you bought!? (Also seen in the post linked above) Well, since I have an ongoing relationship with Marshalls, those items won't count towards my challenge (or my five items.) Plus, 90% of it is bought with gift cards, I always end up going over my budget. For this latest challenge, the items I bought would have counted as basics anyhow, score!
THE RULES
- Just five standout pieces per season.
- Quality over quantity.
- Basics don’t count.
- Accessories don’t count, unless you’re spending a lot more than usual.
- Socks and underwear don’t count.
- Shoes do count.
MY PROGRESS
Part of my Five:
Basics:
- Teal Keds Sneakers via DSW
- Current/Elliott Ankle Skinny Jeans via The Outnet
- *new* Indulgems necklace via Gilt; had 20% off & free shipping. Been putting off buying one of their pieces for weeks, so I pulled the trigger on this one.
- Black Alexander Wang Draped wrap-effect jersey dress in The Outnet's Clearance Sale; too small
- *new* Mother Denim 'The Rascal' Crop Jean in white [Marshalls]
- *new* Equipment 'Mina Tie Front' Blouse in dark grey [Marshalls]
- *new* Solitare Top in navy [Marshalls]
- *new* Etienne Aigner Sunglasses[Marshalls]
Let's start off with a song, shall we? *drip drip drop, Little April Shower! Beating a tune as you fall all around* Let's hope that April Showers really do bring May Flowers. If so, this weekend definitely helped. Thanks to the rain on Saturday I only took one shot of my outfit. But, in exchange you get some pretty rain photos as well.
