Slightly warmer weather is the perfect opportunity to wear thin layers, like this pretty Tahari sweater. It is super thin and super soft but once we hit the super cold temperatures I find myself wearing it less and less in favor of my chunkier knits. I wore this to hang out at my Grandmother's house over the weekend.

*Onecklace gifted the pieces featured in this post, but all opinions are my own.
We are just over a month away from Christmas (and very close to Hanukkah) so Christmas gift shopping is in full swing. I try not to do anything Christmasy until after Thanksgiving, but when you find the perfect gift for someone you have to buy it, whether it's June 3rd or December 24th. I'm almost done with all my shopping but I do have a few more gifts to buy.
One gift that never goes out of style is jewelry. And when you can personalize your jewelry gift it's even better! Thanks to Onecklace you can find a ton of great personalized jewelry options for your loved ones! They sent me two great pieces to feature on the blog. First I chose an adorable silver heart midi ring that is going to be a permanent fixture on my hands (always on the hunt for cute silver rings, I can't get enough!) For my second piece I chose a personalized chevron birthstone necklace.
From name necklaces to birthstone jewelry you'll be able to find the perfect piece for everyone on your list. They carry very simple pieces, such as my chevron necklace and also have more intricate pieces like a family tree birthstone necklace (a great gift for mothers or grandmothers!) This outfit was a copycat of one of Natalie Suarez's outfits from back in the day, hence my weird face...trying to match her cool 'I don't care look' and failing. And look how long my hair was...a little TOO long if you ask me, and that's saying something because I'm not a fan of shorter hair on myself. Sadly I don't have the jeans anymore but every other piece in this outfit was still in my closet!
I think the times where my Dad can take photos during the week are at an end. I got to my parents house at 4:50 and we needed the flash...NOOOO! But at least on the weekends he can still take them for me. Otherwise it's back to the tripod during the week.

It's starting to get chilly out there! I wore this over the weekend to help my mom do some Christmas shopping for my siblings. She likes taking me along when it involves clothes just for a second opinion. I'm a little jealous of what we picked out for my sister, ha ha!
Back to the cold - this is one of my warmest sweaters, I call it a sweater coat because it's so heavy. It is at least a size too large for me, but I bought it during the Net-a-Porter sale a few years ago and you take what you can get when it's down to the wire and 70% off! I actually quite like the over-sized feel of it, but I'm very into oversized sweaters, so could just be me.
Sweater Coat: Burberry Brit (Net-a-Porter sale), Top c/o Oasis, Jeans: J Brand 'high rise Maria' (Gilt), Boots: Audrey Brooke (DSW)

Sometimes when I'm browsing online stores I see outfits that I can recreate with pieces I already own and save them. I've had the inspiration for this outfit saved since May 2014 and FINALLY wore it...oops! I don't have a black button-down so I improvised with my DKNY cozy and turned it into a shirt. I think my look came out pretty good, what do you think?

Hello dark but bright photos! My dad and I were forced into using the flash for these photos because I got to the house when it was already dark. It wasn't as dark as the photos suggest, but that's what happens. This is a bit of a strange outfit because of how it came about. My house is really cold during the day (I'm trying not to turn the heat on yet) so while I was working I put on this big sweater and jeans. When the time came to go out to dinner I didn't feel like changing so I threw on some heels and big accessories to compensate.

This is one of my more whimsical blazers yet it is still totally wearable because of the limited amount of colors. I feel like a bit of a fraud when I wear it because I don't read as much as I should. I've been doing a lot better this year and a half and have read a good amount. All of Game of Thrones, the Percy Jackson series, Me Before You (to prepare for Matt Lewis being in the film version), The Casual Vacancy and all of J.K. Rowling's Cormoran Strike books. Plus a few more fluffy reads (The Man Repeller and As You Wish) and rereading a few things. I'm currently reading The Heroes of Olympus, the second series in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson world.
I was a little late to the game reading Rowling's 4 latest books even though I bought them all right when they were released. I had to buy them to support her but didn't think they would be my style. The Casual Vacancy DEFINITELY wasn't me, but I've really been enjoying her books under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. I read the third novel in her Cormoran Strike series in 2 days when it came out at the end of October. P.S. If you've read the books and like them, check out my friend's new podcast: The Strike Files.
Blazer: Paul Smith (Roundabout Resale), Turtleneck: Vanessa Bruno (Coco's $10 sale), Jeans: Free People (Marshalls), Boots: 3.1 Phillip Lim 'Peggy' (Barney's Warehouse), Necklace: Indulgems (Gilt)

Welcome to the second week of throwback outfits! This outfit is one of my favorites and I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's the hints of turquoise throughout. Maybe it's the fact that it's my uniform. Either way I was happy to rewear this! I still have every single piece of this outfit so I wore it exactly the same way, no changes. I did misplace the watch, but it's somewhere in the house...probably tucked away in a bag somewhere.

This getting dark early business is not going to make outfit pictures easy. Fortunately for me, last week 2 of my friends visited during the day so I had them take photos for me so I wouldn't have to drag out my tripod. On this day I went out to lunch with my friend Jenna. It was pretty warm so I didn't need both sweaters, but the look was a little boring with just one. But two is better than one, right?

Who doesn't love a nice comfortable grandpa sweater? Especially when it's Phillip Lim...for Target, ha ha. So far that has been one of my favorite designer collaborations Target has done. I have 3 pieces from the collection and I still wear them. I can't say the same for the others, which have all left my closet. (Except my floral Jason Wu dress and 2 Altuzarra pieces)
