Today I'm featuring the Thakoon Addition Spring 2013 collection. This collection had 26 looks and I saved 20 of them (which I narrowed down a little for this post), so I think it's safe to say that I am in love. I am not usually one for soft looks an girly colors but this collection is too pretty to dislike. Thakoon called the collection a little bit Americana and a cheerleader moment. I'm not a cheerleader fan, read: gymnastics snob, so I'll ignore that part and call it American Girl.
I think what I love most about this collection is that it is a lot of separates that can be mixed and matched to create infinite looks. You can also take the pieces and fit them in easily with your own wardrobes because the colors go with everything. (well perhaps not everything, but a lot)

I wore this outfit last week to go hang out at home. I had to pick up some mail and figured I could get a free meal out of it. I didn't miss my family or anything ;) (I see them every week so that's basically true, though I do miss seeing them every day.) I also decided to be a weirdo and take some pictures with a plastic ball, what can I say, I'm strange.
The problem with this dress is that it's so shapeless I can look like a short frump. So I decided to belt it up top to try to elongate myself. I still prefer the first time I wore this, so I'll probably wear that again before it is no longer appropriate to wear this dress.
Song of the Day: Zanzibar by Billy Joel
Dress: thrifted $6, Sweater: Forever 21 $11, Heels: Guess (Marshalls) $40, Sunglasses: old, Watch: Michael Kors, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Piperlime & Vix

I am not going to be posting as many collections from fashion week as usual, only the ones that really stand out. I will be posting all my favorite looks on my Facebook, for now I have all my NYFW picks, see this album! I will do the same for London, Milan and Paris! I predict that one of the other collections I feature on the blog will be Burberry Prorsum, because I always find myself wanting the whole collection.
For New York Fashion Week two collections really called out my name, Sachin + Babi and Thakoon Addition. I loved this collection by Sachin + Babi because, although it is full of prints and color, it is completely wearable. I could see myself in every single one of these looks (see the full collection). Come next year, I will definitely be on the lookout for some of these pieces. How about you?

According to Style, the collection was inspired by Ryan Holden Singer's photograph of a Mongolian man next to his motorcycle, seen below. I love that a whole collection can be inspired by one photo, it shows that you can gain inspiration from anything. Can you see the references to the photo in the collection?![]() |

This was my favorite day in New York by far. I met some new friends; Nikki, Ashley, Bethany, Alexandria, and more! AND I finally had the pleasure of hanging out with Mary in person after following her blog for quite some time, she's awesome!
Top: Made by Grandma, Skirt: Made by Mom, Sandals: Seychelles (DSW) $35, Bag: Chanel, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Vanessa Mooney giveaway, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) gift card
UPDATE: Yes, this is the same fabric as yesterday's skirt. I had my mom make another with our leftover fabric. This time with the scalloped edge. (we wanted that on the other skirt but it wasn't working out properly)

LuckyFABB Day 1 was insane! We woke up at 6:45, got ready and headed off to the Times Center to wait in line. After we got in, there was some mingling before heading into the main room for our first panel: "How to Make it on your Own Terms" with Brandon Holley (Lucky) and Terry Lundgren (Macy's). Next it was a panel with Lauren Sherman (Lucky,) Leandra Medine (Man Repeller,) Leah Chernikoff (Fashionista) and Annie Georgia Greenberg (Refinery29.) Finally, we had a Google Analytics lesson from Raman Kia before a coffee break and checking out some booths.
After that we had the pleasure of listening to Rachel Zoe talk to Brandon Holley. "The Next Wave" with Lauren Sherman, Steven Kolb (CFDA,) Mitch Grossback (CAA,) Shana Fisher (High Line Venture Partners) and Federico Marchetti (Yoox) talked about what is next for bloggers and how the industry is changing. Next we heard from Susan Lyne (Gilt,) Lauren Bush Lauren (FEED,) Aliza Licht (DKNY) and Erica Domesek (P.S. I made this...) about Amplifying our Brands.
We then broke into some Breakout Sessions after lunch. I was sitting in on "How Do I Look?," a chat on how your blog looks to brands and "Developing Your Voice." Everyone reconvened in the main conference room to hear Lauren Conrad. Finally we had the opportunity of listening to a chat between Simon Doonan (Barney's) and the lovely Anna Sui! That was the highlight of my experience. After all the panels were complete, there was a cocktail party with munchies.
Lydia and I left soon after and headed back to our hotel to rest our feet. Then we quickly headed out for dinner (Chinese food) and some ice cream. Quite the busy day! And, if you made it through all of that, here are some photos of my outfit!
Skirt: Made by Mom [inspired by Michael Kors], Jacket: Theyskens' Theory (Nordstrom Rack) $180, Top: Splendid (net-a-porter) $32, Sandals: Miu Miu (eBay), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs "Aidan" (shopbop), Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors, Necklace: Vanessa Mooney giveaway, Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop) gift card

Continuing on with the LuckyFABB outfits, Tuesday evening we headed of to the Bowery Hotel for the Lucky and Aloxxi Pre-FABB cocktail party! I was so excited when Lucky invited me to this event because we were going to get hair color consultations from experts and then have Lauren of My Closet in Sketches draw us!
It was such a fun event and I met lots of new friends such as Lucy, Sam and Courtney. I also had the pleasure of meeting and chatting for a while with Clemmy of Lucky, another wonderful woman! We even got to meet Nicole, the namesake of Nicole by OPI, she was so nice and we were obsessed with her Sandro dress (I couldn't find it online, sadly)!
Dress: Edun (The Outnet) $100, Heels: Lanvin $82, Bag: Chanel, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors
In case you were wondering, my hair color personality is "A Brunette for Casanova," how cute is that?! All their hair colors have fun names, just like the OPI nail colors (because they are owned by the same person)
