Follow Me
Tis the season of weddings and wedding showers (not that they aren't all year round, but I have a bunch coming up.) So in the spirit of upcoming nuptials here's a look that's perfect for a wedding shower.  The formula for a shower look is simple: cute dress + heels + cardigan and you're done! This look is a little more girly than I would usually wear, but it fits the occasion, right?

In this look I'm wearing two things you don't normally see me in: tartan and a peplum.  For some reason (read: it's purple) I fell in love with this top last weekend at Lord & Taylor. I left it in the store since I'm doing the French Wardrobe challenge and my mom surprised me with it later in the week.  She got it for under $5 because it was on clearance, an extra 65% off AND she had a coupon, ha ha.  My mom is the queen of bargain shopping, it's how I learned to never pay full price. So even though I sometimes pay a lot for things, they're always on sale ;)

I'm also wearing my new skinny jeans, I think I finally succeeded in finding a replacement for my favorite Free People skinnies (their first appearance.) I loved them too much and the top section is now permanently wrinkled. They will remain in my closet because as long as I wear them with a long top they're perfectly acceptable (as seen here.) I tried so many other pairs but none were exactly what I wanted. I intended to give these a test run and order a second pair for when these inevitably get worn out, but my size already sold out.  Oh well, will just have to keep an eye out for them again.

Sweater: Abercrombie & Fitch (Coco's $5 sale), Top: J. Cooper (Lord & Taylor), Jeans: Current/Elliott (The Outnet), Boots: Cordani (Roundabout Resale), Bag: Etienne Aigner (thrifted, $2!), Necklace: Geoclassics, Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports snake ring & Mom's

I made it through the first month of the French Wardrobe challenge! I bought 4 things this month, one was returned, two were basics and then one was the 1st of my 5 items.  Remember in my announcement post I mentioned the Carven Paris map print dress? Well...I finally found it on Yoox! It was still a bit of a splurge but I had been looking for it for so long so I think it was worth it. Here's my recap:

THE RULES
  1. Just five standout pieces per season.
  2. Quality over quantity.
  3. Basics don’t count.
  4. Accessories don’t count, unless you’re spending a lot more than usual.
  5. Socks and underwear don’t count.
  6. Shoes do count.

Friday again! This week actually went by pretty quickly, which I am glad of. I've been super tired lately and waking up at 5:30 wasn't helping the situation. Thankfully I was able to stay home yesterday too so I caught up on a little more sleep since I was able to sleep until 9. But  now I can have a nice, relaxing weekend! So far no plans, I'll probably catch up on all the old movies I have DVR-ed.

Monday: Turtleneck Tank: Willi Smith (TJ Maxx) $15, Blazer: Darjoni (Good Will), Jeans: rag & bone (Shopbop), Heels: Lanvin (Roundabout Consignments), Necklace: Grandma's, Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports snake ring & Mom's

Tuesday:  Top: Everlane, Skirt: T by Alexander Wang (net-a-porter), Cardigan: Tahari (TJ Maxx), Booties: R2 (DSW), Necklace: Vanessa Mooney (giveaway), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports snake ring & Mom's
Below are a few of the items I've added to my wishlists across the web over the past couple of weeks. Sadly I will probably never buy any of them, but it's always fun to look, right? I will hopefully be adding an Indulgems necklace to my closet though, one of the designs is seen below. You can click the products in the image below to shop, exciting right?
