These overalls I thrifted last year are so cute, yet I rarely wear them. The reasons? 1. It's a bit short and 2. I can never decide what to wear under it. I think I've only shown the overalls on the blog once [and another on instagram], but I think I've worn them a few other times.  I love the color and the fabric is super soft, if only it were a couple inches longer it would possibly be a Summer staple!

I was also a little adventurous with my hair this particular day. I used to braid my hair a lot, but since getting it cut in December it has never really been long enough for a good braid. I was pleasantly surprised to see I could get a crown braid again! Yay!

Overalls: Calvin Klein (thrifted), Tee: Everlane, Sandals: Ancient Greek Sandals (Net-a-Porter), Bag: Wink and Winn (giveaway win), Necklace c/o by boe, Sunglasses: Ray-Ban "Emma" (Marshalls), Rings: vintage, Brilliant Imports & Mom's

I added a couple new basics to my close this month, a new pair of sandals as well as a new sweater for the Winter (not sure I should have included it in here, but I bought it so I am.) You will also notice that one of my five items from the previous posts is missing. I decided to sell it because I don't think I will get much use out of it. Lesson learned. No more impulse thrifting buys.

I also bought a few things during Roundabout Resale's Summer Clearance. All the items were brand new with tags, how awesome is that?! A Burberry London dress, which is part of my 5 and a pink cashmere sweater that I'm putting under basics.  I also bought some crazy Tabitha Simmons boots that should technically be part of my 5, but they're Winter so I'm not counting them. They are in the photos anyway. [Oddly enough, I posted them back in 2011, how funny is that?!]

THE RULES
  1. Just five standout pieces per season.
  2. Quality over quantity.
  3. Basics don’t count.
  4. Accessories don’t count, unless you’re spending a lot more than usual.
  5. Socks and underwear don’t count.
  6. Shoes do count.
MY PROGRESS

Part of my Five:
Basics:
Accessories:
Exempt:  Not counting any items I got from brands or bought for Marshalls Project FAB (bought with a gift card)
Winter Items: I'm still trying to limit these types of purchases, but I can't resist a good deal!
I'm not usually one for lace, but I was drawn to this Winter Kate top last year and it has become something I fall back on when there is a slight breeze in the air and I want some ventilation. The only problem is it wrinkles really easily at the bottom, but I've learned to live with it.  I've worn it a bunch of times on the blog, but never with shorts, oddly enough. I always try to bring out the blue of the print, so I styled it with my teal Sseko sandals and my trusty Marc Jacobs bag (Luna is her name.)

Top: Winter Kate (Hautelook), Shorts: Rag & Bone c/o Marshalls, Sandals c/o Sseko, Purse: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Saks Friends & Family Sale), Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop
This dress has been featured on the blog a few times in the past couple years. First it appeared in a video outfit and a few more followed. I thrifted it for under $6 and while I loved the print was never fully happy with it because of the length. So this year I finally had my mom shorten it, I like it so much more now! Perfect for those hot Summer days when you want to wear nothing.

Dress: thrifted, Sandals: BOC (Marhsalls), Sunglasses: Cole Haan c/o Marhsalls

In case you don't want to click to the old post, here is the dress before:

Here is my last camping outfit, and is not something you will normally see me in: workout clothes. I'm not one for going to the gym or working out, so I don't have much need for athletic wear. I don't even own sneakers! (I borrowed a friends for this outfit.) But, since I knew we would be going on some hikes during our trip, I decided to get some real workout clothes, this is when I discovered Fabletics! I saw a commercial where Kate Hudson was talking about the site and how you can get your first outfit for $25! A full outfit for $25? I'm in!  This look came with shorts, a top and a sports bra, but there are a bunch of combinations.

This shirt is AMAZING! We were hiking for quite a while (5 miles one day and a little under the second) and I knew I was getting, you know...sweaty, and you couldn't even tell with this shirt. It is so good at keeping you dry. And the shorts come with built-in underwear, but I am too self-conscious for that, so I wore other underwear too. (Never though I would say that word on this blog! Some things are meant to stay private, ha ha)

This is NOT a sponsored post, I just like the outfit!
