Follow Me
This past weekend I went to my college best friend's wedding! I hadn't seen her since we graduated 4 years ago because she lives quite a while from me and we could never connect. It was great to see her on her special day and get to share it with her and was like no time had passed! We went right back to making crazy faces at each other from across the room. She and her fiance got married in the English Garden at Wickham Park and, since we were in nature, I thought it was the perfect day to wear the Anthropologie dress Lydia got me for my birthday last year after I saw it in a consignment store.  I'm sad it's taken me this long to actually wear it, but I wanted it's first outing to be perfect! It was only fitting that Lydia take my photos for me, so I had her take them a couple weeks before the wedding. It got some compliments, so I think I made the right choice!

It was a small wedding, less than 50 people, but I only knew one other person apart from my friend and her fiance, and that was the maid of honor. I also went to school with her and it was fun to catch up with her too! Although I stalk everyone on Facebook frequently, it's more fun to chat in person.  She even got me on the dance floor a few times which, if you know me, is a major feat! We were the crazy girls slow dancing together with all the couples.

Yes, more burgundy. I'm sorry, its my second favorite color, what can I say.  I always find myself drawn to burgundy pieces in stores have have to resist buying more. Sometimes I give in. Luckily for me, my mom was getting rid of this sweater so it cost me nothing to add it to my closet! This dress is a piece I've had for a few years (almost 4) and it makes at least two appearances a year on the blog, but I wear it more often than that. It's something I throw on when I want to be super comfortable but still look put together.

You can thank my brother for the title. I couldn't think of something and he suggested what you see. Ha ha.

Yes, I shopped the Altuzarra for Target collection. I bought a bunch of items and settled on the Python Long Sleeve Shirt and Embroidered Pleated Georgette Dress. My closet was sorely lacking in long sleeve shirts that I can layer through the Winter, so this top was a perfect addition to my closet! And the dress is just fun, everyone needs a fun, flirty dress, right? Did you buy anything from the collection? (P.S. International folks can order from Net-a-Porter)

I'm continuing with the French Wardrobe Challenge, but changing the rules a bit for myself. Looks like both Jessica and I had the same idea! I'm switching it from 5 to 7 items and allowing myself to buy as many shoes as my heart desires, within reason, of course. While I will still be discerning with all my purchases, it will be nice to have a little more freedom. I'm also going to be more lenient when it comes to "basics" by not restricting to black/white and gray since I wear a lot of burgundy and purple. I have a clothing budget for each month that I'm usually pretty good about sticking to, so that helps curb my purchases as well!  Will you be doing the challenge this season?
This first month I told myself I wasn't allowed to buy anything since I splurged on a pair of Chanel flats last month. But, as per usual, I couldn't  keep that promise. Most of what I bought was paid for with gift cards, so it wasn't a total fail! I did buy a new Marrin Costello necklace and a couple Altuzarra for Target pieces without gift cards. But the Target stuff would have sold out if I waited, so I had to, right? Not really a good excuse, but the collection had lots of purple and burgundy! What's a girl to do?
Near the end of the month I used up an Amazon gift card to buy a pair of Cole Haan sandals I've been wanting since May. They were the last size 8 in the purple color I wanted so I went for it! I paid more than the $49.99 price tag at Marshalls, BUT it was a gift card. The design is simple enough that I'll be able to wear them for years to come. They aren't technically a Fall item, so I won't include them in the remaining roundups.
While I wasn't totally successful in not buying anything I was thoughtful with my purchases, so it's alright.  This weekend my mom is taking my sister and I out birthday shopping (mine is in a couple weeks!) so maybe I'll be able to hold out the rest of the month and not buy anything... (doubtful)

Here is one of my new Fall purchases! I bought this fun fur vest at Marshalls with a gift card and I am so excited to wear it through the Winter! I really love the knitted back, makes it so much more unique than if it was just suede all the way around. I think I'm going to try it over a dress next.  How would you style it?

I also inherited another one of my mom's old rings (she bought it when she was 7 or 8,) this time it's a dime that was carved out to just show "LIBERTY" and a woman who was featured on the dime before Roosevelt. After some research I found that it is called the "Mercury dime" and was only made from 1916 to 1945.
