Follow Me
In honor of Throwback Thursday I decided to go back into my "archives" (which is only 6 years) and recreate the exact outfit I wore on this day in 2010.  Oddly enough I still had the dress and sweater, but not the shoes - thank goodness! This was not the greatest outfit, but I did my best to spice it up a bit!  I think I'll go into my archives more often and choose better looks to re-wear on Thursdays. But, for the first one I figured we'd go straight and make it truly '5 years ago' no matter how embarrassing. I think I'll make the rule that at least half the outfit has to remain the same, unless I don't have one of the pieces.

And in keeping with old tradition, these photos are blurry. I stupidly didn't realize until I put the pictures on my computer 2 days later and was too lazy to re-shoot. But it brings back the nostalgia of my old blurry photos.  Stupid camera focusing on the pretty leaves instead of my clothes! ;)

Dress: ASOS, Sweater: Kohl's, Boots: Audrey Brooke (DSW), Necklace: Indulgems (Gilt)

And for full effect, the original. Gosh, how horrible is that?! Good thing my photography has mostly improved.
November 5, 2010
It's amazing what adding a pair of heels to an outfit can do. Instantly my posture changes and I feel so much more "dressed" than if I had flats on. I don't really have occasion to wear heels as much as I did when I went into an office, but I still like to bring them out now and again for no reason. Why let them gather dust when you can wear them out to eat, even if it's just Chili's.

Tee: Zara, Cardigan: Max Studio (gift from Lydia), Jeans: FRAME 'Le Skinny de Jeanne Jeans' (Shopbop), Pumps: Coach 'Nacie' (Marshalls)

The main reason I bought this crop top, first seen here, was to wear it with these jeans. I wore this to a martini making class Lydia hosted at Polpo in Greenwich. I didn't want to dress up super crazy so I figured adding a blazer and heels to my outfit made it appropriate for the occasion. I know the title says shaken, not stirred, but our bartender teacher told us you should never shake your martinis, no matter what James Bond says. My Dad disagreed when I told him, but since I don't generally drink martinis it doesn't matter to me. I do have to say, I think I made a pretty mean drink, I was a pro at using the strainer from Absolut. Check out photos from the event over at Lydia's blog!

At the end of the party we were given adorable pineapple pins. Absolut have chosen the pineapple because it represents hospitality and they want the world to know that they are devoted to serving as best they can.  To go a step further, they've a created copper Pineapple drinking vessel that has been exclusive to certain bars for quite some time. They will start selling them soon (for $85) and for every pineapple sold they will provide water for a month for one family in need.  (By purchasing Absolut Elyx you provide water for one week.)

(I was not asked to post about this, but I love that they support a great cause)

Top: Zara, Blazer: Elie Tahari (Coco's on the Green), Jeans: J Brand 'high rise Maria' (Gilt), Heels: Prada (The Real Real)

My awesome Absolut Elyx martini. Stirred, not shaken.

Sometimes you just have to surrender to the weather. Last week we had a lot or rain, so I coped by wearing big sweaters and leggings with rain boots. The only place I went on this day was my parents for dinner, but I like to think I could have work it out in the real world too. This sweater one of my favorites because it is so huge and comfy. It's from the men's section, so if it was small on me that would be a problem.

Sweater: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Marshalls), Leggings: Rock & Republic 'Star Wars' leggings c/o Kohl's, Boots: däv (giveaway win), Umbrella: Altuzarra for Target (exclusive giveaway win)

Another pretty good month, especially seeing as I usually go a little crazy buying birthday gifts for myself. I only bought one thing this month, and I used birthday money from my parents, so yay! I also got a lovely sweater as a gift from Lydia and two other (free) sweaters from an event I went to at Foxwoods. The custom NikeID's I was able to make at RewardStyle's NYFW party also arrived this month!
