This past Saturday another one of my cousins got married. This time I had the honor of being one of her bridesmaids so this won't be a regular wedding guest look. The wedding was beach themed so we wore blue dresses. Everyone wore the same style dress and it flattered all our bodies (two of the other girls were pregnant!) I wore a pair of silver sandals which I forgot to take photos of as well as some jewelry that was handed down to be from both my Grandmothers. The ring and earrings were my paternal grandmother who passed away in 2001 and the necklace is from my maternal grandmother who was at the wedding.

Shoes: New Look

Can you see the fear in my eyes in this picture? I HATE being in front of people so I was super nervous even though no one really cares about the bridesmaids, haha.

Happy Friday and happy last day of March. This month includes one purchase, but it's something I bought on February 28th. Silver heels to go with my bridesmaids dress for my cousin's wedding in April. I decided to give up buying clothes for Lent knowing that I might not be able to make it. So far, so good! Only 16 days to go and I will have made it! (That would also mean 2.5 months without buying clothes - if you don't count the wedding shoes)

In honor of Throwback Thursday I decided to go back into my "archives" (which is only 6 years) and recreate the exact outfit I wore on this day in 2010.  Oddly enough I still had the dress and sweater, but not the shoes - thank goodness! This was not the greatest outfit, but I did my best to spice it up a bit!  I think I'll go into my archives more often and choose better looks to re-wear on Thursdays. But, for the first one I figured we'd go straight and make it truly '5 years ago' no matter how embarrassing. I think I'll make the rule that at least half the outfit has to remain the same, unless I don't have one of the pieces.

And in keeping with old tradition, these photos are blurry. I stupidly didn't realize until I put the pictures on my computer 2 days later and was too lazy to re-shoot. But it brings back the nostalgia of my old blurry photos.  Stupid camera focusing on the pretty leaves instead of my clothes! ;)

And for full effect, the original. Gosh, how horrible is that?! Good thing my photography has mostly improved.
November 5, 2010
Since I don't go out (trick-or-treating or partying,) it is not one of my favorite holidays to celebrate, but I LOVE the time leading up to Halloween. All through October I watch my favorite Halloween themed movies over and over and over. Who doesn't love Casper, Hocus Pocus, Teen Witch, Halloweentown and all the other fun movies we watched as kids? (I don't do scary movies)

Reusing some photos from last year to celebrate. (I STILL haven't actually worn this at a Halloween party, I don't get invited to parties, haha...I did wear it to the office last year, without the hat.) So, here I am as Willy Wonka!

Dress: ASOS, Jacket: Gap (Coco's), Bow: Made by Mom, Hat: eBay, Booties: no.704b. (DSW)

How is it already November 1st?! This is insanity!! I hope everyone had a great Halloween. I just went to my parents house after work, had dinner, watched Wheel of Fortune and It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and then went home home to watch TV until bed. So exciting, right?!

I'm so glad it's sweater season again, I do love wearing all my knits! Speaking of them, I just snagged an awesome new sweater from Madewell for $35 (regular $88!) Unfortunately the color I bought (Navy and Purple) sold out, but there are 2 other color options. They're having a sale that goes through tonight - just enter code SWEETSALE for 40% off sale items and free shipping! :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Here's my Halloween 'costume!' Can you guess who I am?....no one?  WILLY WONKA! Willy Wonka is one of my all time favorite movies and over the Summer I realized I had all the pieces to create a girl version.  I always call this purple blazer my Willy Wonka jacket and this ASOS dress from a few years ago has a print just like on his shirt.  Meant to be, right?!  All I had to do was buy some ribbon so my mom could make me a big bow.  I decided to forgo the cane, but I did pick up a hat on eBay.

I'm not actually going anywhere but I thought it was fun and I'm wearing the outfit to work today. Minus the hat and bow, though I will bring them in my tote bag in case I feel like putting them on.

And here's the inspiration:
This past Monday (Memorial Day for those of you with short memories, or non-US citizens) rather than attending a picnic or party I spent the afternoon with Lydia and Christine.  We headed to one of our favorite places, The Chowder Pot for lunch, then took our obligatory outfit photos and finished the day with Frozen Yogurt (after which we decided we should have gotten Rita's Italian Ice or ice cream.)

The girls are always saying I need to wear these purple pants more, so I did it especially for them! The pants also went perfectly with my new Zara top! I'm not usually one to wear white but the print was so cute, look at the birdies! Aaaand I'm wearing my newest purchase, which I alluded to with this Instagram photo on Saturday.

We are heading in to the time of year where people get the "Winter Blues." They don't want to wear anything but dark colors and hate venturing outside in the freezing cold.  To combat this, I suggest wearing happy bright colors or patterns and layering so you can keep your outfits interesting and fun!  Even if you wear darker colors (like in this look) if you pair things correctly your outfit will not be boring. Winter is a lot better when you feel good.  Today I've made a dream outfit using clothes from Cruise.

I started off the look with this gorgeous M Missoni cardigan coat as the focal point. Next I added some bright jacquard pants from ASOS.  The look was finished off with a Zara sweater, Jimmy Choo pumps and various jewelry.

Today I'm featuring a look worn by Allison (Vinessa Shaw) in Hocus Pocus, another favorite of mine.  I was choosing between two looks, but the other one was a bit too similar to yesterday's. I could seriously watch this movie (and Casper) every single day and not get tired of them. Anyway… What you'll need is a purple top, tartan skirt, tights, laced booties, wide belt, long necklace and a red cape! *phew*

Top: Target, Skirt: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, Cape: Alloy, Satchel - Cambridge Satchel Company, Tights: ASOS, Socks: Target, Booties: Chloe, Belt: Ralph Lauren, Necklace: House of Harlow 1960

Here is the other look I wanted to recreate, just wear jeans, a white longsleeve shirt and an oversized tan sweater!
As I mentioned yesterday, I went on a blogger date with Lydia and Amber on Saturday night in West Hartford! We headed to the Elbow Room, a fun restaurant with a rooftop bar, for dinner. Lydia and I arrived just in time for our reservation (there was traffic) but we ended up having another half hour wait to get a spot on the roof.

That happened to be just enough time for us to take some outfit photos across the street. We laughed, tried to walk while using the camera timer and had people stare at us like we were crazy. All in all, quite a good time. It's so much more fun taking outfit pictures with other people.

At the restaurant I had some mini burgers and a coke while the other girls were normal and got something alcoholic. After we had dinner we decided we wanted dessert so we went on a mission to find Barcelona, a tapas restaurant, and it turns out it was gone. We ended up at Restaurant Bricco where I had really delicious gelato! Totally worth the crazy $6 price...

Without further ado, the results of our picture taking adventure. For more photos of Amber and Lydia, see their blogs!

Dress: Oasis (ASOS), Heels: Lanvin (Roundabout) $82, Belt from Jason Wu for Target dress, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (net-a-porter) gift card, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Watch: Michael Kors
I couldn't choose my favorite group shots, so there are lots, sorry! :p
