July is already halfway over...what is this madness?!  Right about now I am in vacation countdown mode, only one week to go and I'll be spending a blissful week in a beach house right across the street from the beach in Rhode Island!

I wore my new Marc Jacobs dress on Monday and I love it! It is super comfortable and I love the fun detail at the bottom. The only problem is it wrinkles SUPER easy (and I don't own an iron...) I'll just have to drive the long 5 minutes to my parents house when it needs to be ironed. I also wore a pencil skirt to work for the first time ever...what?!  But this skirt that I got for $10 at Coco's needs to be shown off, so I wore it with the sweater my grandmother made for my mom (who then passed it on to me) to dress it down.

A nice short week this week! Yesterday was the 4th of July, obviously and today is another day off! Long weekends are the best, aren't they?! (I feel like I just said that a few weeks ago, ha ha.)  This week was another nice non-stressful week at work. We were able to just work on projects without rushing. That is always much better than when we have 5 things due the same day!

I have been doing a bit too much shopping lately. I blame the sales... I was still under budget but I need to be a good girl.  So I'm going to try to not buy anything until my vacation, which is in 2 weeks! WOO! I'll be spending the week at a beach house in Rhode Island with my immediate family as well as some aunts and uncles.

Most of this week was quite lovely, with the exception of Monday when it rained and I had forgotten my umbrella in the office. Ugh.  Tuesday morning I headed to a sample sale and spent to much money. Then the rest of the week proceeded as usual...until Thursday. Long story short I ended up working from home and was supposed to go into the office today instead but there are flood warnings and I'm a bit nervous to take the train so I'm working from home again. Hopefully I don't get in too much trouble...but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Monday: Dress:  Lauren by Ralph Lauren (Lord & Taylor), Sweater: Kohl's, Booties: No.704b. (DSW), Belt: Trafalgar (Coco's $5 sale, similar), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Earrings: Urban Outfitters, Rings: Urban Outfitters & Mom's

Happy Friday! I'm excited for the weekend to begin, I have lots of fun things planned.  Meeting up with some friends, shopping and going to my Aunt's house for a sleepover (to watch The Hobbit and get a massage! Woo!) My first week at my new place of residence has been lovely, except for the two gross spiders in my room. My commute still takes the same amount of time but somehow it's easier even though I have to drive for 25 minutes in traffic to get to the train instead of 8 minutes.

Also, I think I am doomed to be single forever.  I cannot handle myself around boys (or people in general for that matter.) Get ready for the most boring/pointless story ever that has me very depressed:
So yesterday on my ride to NYC I sat behind a boy on the train and thought nothing of it.  When we were pulling into Grand Central he stood up and hit his head on the suitcase rack thing and of course I laughed to myself (don't worry, he didn't notice.)  Then as people were leaving the train he dropped his metro card and everyone was just stepping over it so he couldn't get it. So when I got there I picked it up for him and gave it back.  He said "Thanks so much!" and I said "You're welcome" with my cute smile (aka not really) and left the train.

I was walking pretty quickly and weaving in and out of people and all of a sudden he was next to me again and said "I just wanted to thank you again! Most people would have just walked right over it and I never would have gotten it back." All I could muster was "No problem! *smile*" then we were still next to each other for a bit and I could tell he wanted to say something else but I wasn't really looking at him (because I'm shy and awkward)...then we turned different ways.... It was the PERFECT Meet Cute and I ruined it!

Also, here's some exciting news for you anglophiles/Kate Middleton lovers out there. This coming Monday, April 29th, the Issa silk-jersey wrap-effect dress Kate wore in her engagement photo with Prince William will be available at THE OUTNET.COM!  The dress retailed for $535, but they will be selling it for $287.50!
I wore this to go to the Chowder Pot with my best friend (and ex-roomie, sad...but it's not like we'll never see each other again.)  It's time to start breaking out my bright pink jeans again, I'm normally not a pink girl, but I like these. The lovely thing about my new place is I now have a much better backdrop for photos! Score! This actually isn't the first time I've used this place for photos, I shot here on Thanksgiving because there was no one living in the house at that time.

Google will be discontinuing Google Reader on July 1st, so to continue getting all my blog updates (as well as your other favorites) import them to Bloglovin! They have instructions.
Last week I received this gorgeous scarf from Noma.  Noma sells eco-friendly, fair trade, hand-made pieces hand-dyed in Los Angeles, NOMA is a women-owned and operated collective that lets women feel beautiful—inside and out.  I love supporting fair trade companies, so I was very excited for this collaboration.
NOMA’s philosophy is simple: every woman is beautiful and deserves to shine. This principle guides NOMA’s designs, which celebrate individuality and personal style. NOMA’s simple, yet striking, creations illuminate the beauty from within. We work with skilled artisans around the world, supporting and promoting fair trade in all of our endeavors; we honor and embrace our global community of vision, talent, creativity and passion.

NOMA embraces a ”giving back” philosophy to support indigenous hand crafts and to promote sales by allowing consumers to feel the joy of knowing their purchase is paying it forward. We have been to many places over the past year, and have seen first-hand what is most desperately needed by artisans working in small communities; that's why we've chosen to work with the 'Gift of Light' project to help artisans live and work better with electric light at their fingertips.
I chose the Copper Python Premium Quality Pashmina because I loved the coloring and subtle snakeskin print.   The quality of the scarf is amazing, it is soft to the touch and you can tell a lot of care went into the making of the piece.

To share the love, Noma have provided a coupon code for you to save 75% off a scarf order! To use it, go to the checkout and fill out the information in step 1, then in step 2 enter the code CLOSET75 to see the change reflected in your total. (So basically, you are getting a $125-$198 scarf for $32-$50, how can you miss that deal?)

What a week! Work was insanely busy so I am happy the weekend is almost here. I'm spending the weekend at my parents' house because we're celebrating Easter with my Dad's side of the family. We usually do this with holidays so we don't have to go to two houses on the actual holiday, ha ha.

Last night I went home to get my mountain of mail.  The We Are Handsome suit I bought was too big, it was falling off me. So depressing.  So I am still on the hunt for a small.  I also got a gorgeous Skagen watch (image) and a plain black tee from RueLaLa as well as some more bracelets from Ten Thousand Villages. And, in non-fashion purchases, I added some movies to my Disney collection.

Happy Friday, I'm so glad it's the weekend...I need a break from busy-ness.  Getting up at 5:40am Monday-Thursday is starting to take a toll, I think I need a vacation. But that won't be happening for a while, we'll see though.  Other than being busy, this week was pretty good. I went out again on Tuesday with some co-workers, we went to Lure Fishbar in Soho.

This weekend I'm planning on staying home and doing some baking.  I'll probably go to my Grandmother's on Sunday as well, and probably to my parents', I haven't decided, ha ha.

The weather really needs to decide what it wants. I'm tired of this warm-ish then freezing weather! I went to work without a coat on Tuesday then on Wednesday it was back to being cold and windy. Looks like next week is supposed to be warmer (low 50s) though, so that's good!

Happy March!! Why is it that February always seems to go so quickly even though its only 2 (or 3) days shorter than the other months?  I was oddly social this week. On Tuesday I went to get a pedicure with two friends from work, yesterday I went out to lunch with my "work team" (my boss & 2 others) AND last night I went out for drinks with my section of the office.  I had a Coke because I'm not an alcohol person; it tastes/feels gross, haha.  I should probably make more of an effort to try more kinds, but I'm lazy and it's too expensive anyway.

Blazer update: I've worn 8 blazers so far since starting my challenge, so I'm doing pretty well! This week I slipped one day because it was rainy & gross which made me want to throw on a super comfy sweater. But I think I can afford one "cheat day" per week, ha ha.

Welcome to the first (and only) installment of the Intern Diaries! Since I only worked 3 days a week it didn't make sense to do the old version of "This Week in Fashion," so I decided to do a large recap! Moving on, I have been interning in New York City for a fashion website as a graphic designer and the dress code is pretty casual; we have to look presentable & professional.  I think I've been doing a pretty good job with it.

As I have been hinting, I have some big news!  After only 2 weeks my boss and the President of the company decided they liked my work so much that they wanted to hire me on a more permanent basis! We're starting out at 4 days per week to see how things go, so exciting! It's going to be hard getting up at 5:40 almost every day, but it should be worth it. Monday was my first official day as a freelancer, now I am officially working in the city! Woohoo!

I'm still commuting because I can't afford to move to the city yet, but I assume I will end up there eventually...

Today let's talk about one of the biggest mall chains in the world, Westfield! They have malls everywhere, from Australia and New Zealand to London and of course in the US (which are the ones I frequent).   More specifically let's talk about one of my favorite things to shop for: shoes!  Westfield has an amazing selection of womens boots, high heels and wedges shoes!  In Australia they carry a wide variety of brands such as adidas, UGG, Billabong, drmartens, Merrell, Guess, NIKE, TOMS and even Dolce & Gabbana!

I had so much fun checking out all the shoes, below are some of my favorite finds, there are plenty more where these came from!  Make sure to check out all the womens shoes at Westfield! What do you think?

*This post was sponsored but all opinions are my own.
I wore this outfit last week to go hang out at home.  I had to pick up some mail and figured I could get a free meal out of it. I didn't miss my family or anything ;) (I see them every week so that's basically true, though I do miss seeing them every day.) I also decided to be a weirdo and take some pictures with a plastic ball, what can I say, I'm strange.

The problem with this dress is that it's so shapeless I can look like a short frump.  So I decided to belt it up top to try to elongate myself. I still prefer the first time I wore this, so I'll probably wear that again before it is no longer appropriate to wear this dress.
