This outfit is one of my favorite combinations. It's perfect for Summer because of how airy the skirt is. The sweater is also surprisingly lightweight. And the best part? It's all made by loved ones. My late Grandmother made the top for my Mom YEARS ago and she passed it on to me. My Grandma made one for each of her daughter-in-laws and daughter. My mom actually asked for a second one, and this is that one.  Then my mom made me this skirt in 2012 with extra fabric from when we made a skirt inspired by Michael Kors. I don't even wear the other skirt anymore. Whoops.

Welcome my Proenza Schouler tweed colorblock shorts to the blog!!! If you saw my monthly wardrobe update you will have heard this story already, but for those that haven't: I posted these shorts on the blog back in June 2011 as one of my favorite looks from the 2012 Resort show! A couple of weekends ago I went to Roundabout's end of season sale with Lydia and on a second look through the store I spotted these shorts peeking out and recognized them immediately.

I didn't think they were going to fit but tried them on and they fit like a glove! At "only" $57 I had to take them home. That may seem like a lot for shorts, BUT they are tweed, trimmed in leather and made in the USA. Plus, they retailed for $1600, insanity!

Another outfit from Rhode Island. I wore this for a quick trip to get ice cream after dinner one evening. It's not a trip to the beach without a big cup of soft serve with rainbow sprinkles, right?!

These shorts are one of my new favorite buys! I got them for a steal ($11) in April at the Banana Republic outlet and once it got warm enough to wear them I wore them twice in a 3 day span! I had been wanting this color and style of short of a while but could never find the "perfect" pair. I think these are it! They'll definitely come in handy for my (eventual) safari trip! That's a long way off though.

Sometimes I take my outfit pictures with wet hair. That was the case for these outfit pictures. But what can you do? I don't like to blow dry it so if I take my shower in the morning it is wet most of the day (which is why I usually shower at night.)  I wore this to hang out at my grandma's for the afternoon, it was quite a hot day, Summer definitely doesn't want to leave us, that probably doesn't bode well for Winter. But I don't want to think about that yet.

I have returned! And am returning with an outfit that is anything but boring. When my brother saw me in this outfit he said it looked like I was wearing a lampshade...whatever, I think the skirt is fun! Although it's odd shape does make it a challenge to style. This time I decided to wear it with a loose fitting tank and super tall heels. I think it off-sets the skirt nicely.

I hope all my American readers had a great Independence Day! I spent mine with my family having a barbeque and eating too much food. Summer calls for simple outfits. This was a cooler day so I was able to wear jeans and my sweater without being too hot or cold.  So far this Summer hasn't been very hot, but I'm probably jinxing it.  I wouldn't mind it staying in the 80s the next few months, but I know we'll get up to the high 90s eventually and I will die.

A super simple outfit for a day of exploring Athens. This sweater, which was made by my (late) Grandmother for my mom remains one of my favorite Summer pieces. It's so comfortable and, despite being a sweater, keeps me cool. It's slightly cropped fit is a perfect match for my high waisted jeans!

This is one of my must-wear outfits in the Summer. It's super comfortable and airy, keeping my nice and cool! And, funnily enough, both pieces are handmade! My Grandmother made the knit top for my Mom years ago. And my Mom made the skirt for me a few years ago!

Here's another view of the hotel I stayed at. It's a bunch of different buildings with pools in between. Pretty cool, right?!

A couple weeks ago I was getting rid of pieces in my closet and brought them over for my mom and sister to dig through.  My mom came up with the brilliant idea of turning this old Hollister dress into a skirt.  I love having a mother who sews (she used to make a good portion of my clothes when I was younger.)  I wore it REALLY high up here and threw the sweater my Grandmother made on top. But the skirt goes below my knees if I wear it on my actual hips. So now I have a myriad of ways to wear it.

It's always hard to get rid of pieces, even things you never wear anymore. I try to do it gradually but sometimes I do a big wardrobe cull. But sometimes all it takes is a little bit of re-imagining for a piece to find a spot in your wardrobe again. I have to do that with this leather skirt I bought for $10, it's just too long. I want to shorten it so it is more like this Burberry London skirt.  First I have to find a tailor and make myself go, ha ha...

This outfit is from a couple weeks ago when I went out to eat and to the movies with my best friends.  We headed to our favorite dinner spot, Chilli's, and then saw Monsters University...so cute!  Since it was in the evening I was able to throw on some jeans without burning to death.  I offset the jeans with my favorite Summer sweater.

Now that it's Summer I've finally been able to break out this sweater again as you've seen here and here! It was made by my Grandmother for my Mom and my mom passed it on to me last Summer. It is a particularly favorite piece because she passed away when I was only 13 and it helps me to keep her near me always.  I actually wore it twice in the same weekend (the second time was to the Vogue Sunday Spill event.)
