Wore this outfit a couple weeks ago and I think it's a perfect mix of comfortable and chic. What do you think?  As you can tell, this new sweater is getting tons of wear! I took these photos in front of my sister's Christmas tree in her room, which we used to share. It's so funny going in there now with just one bed.

Tonight my Dad's side of the family is coming over for our annual Christmas Eve celebrations! Instead of a big meal we just have munchy food, fine by me! Most of us are grown now so it's a lot more about chatting and hanging out than gifts.  We see each other a lot throughout the year but for some reason Christmas is so much more exciting.

I've still got a bunch of outfits with my old hair, so I'll share those before we get to the new ones! I wore this outfit to finish up my Christmas gift shopping at Marshalls a couple weekends ago.  I really need to get myself a new pair of black jeans but I keep putting it off. Then when I wear these jeans I get so annoyed. They're too short and they get really baggy up top (calves and butt area)...not good! I'm thinking I should try J Brand or Frame Denim (on sale hopefully,) any suggestions for the perfect pair of black jeans?

I'm so in love with my new Burberry flats, they're so comfy and very unique. I'm a sucker for a statement shoe! I was wearing them at the grocery store and a woman stopped me to say 'I love your shoes!' It always makes me smile when that happens.  For their second outing I decided to go with a monochromatic look to coordinate with them.

Happy Friday before Christmas! We're in the home stretch now! I have quite a busy weekend planned. Tonight starts our official movie watching as a family. We have a schedule for the last few days, but the weeks leading up we watch whatever movies we feel like.  Tonight is It's a Wonderful Life. Then tomorrow I'm headed to my Aunt's and Sunday I'm going to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. I was supposed to go last Saturday but the snow ruined it.  Sunday night we're watching Holiday Inn & White Christmas, two of my favorites. But, my absolute favorite (the whole family's actually) is saved for the 23rd: Scrooge with Albert Finney. It's a musical - if you haven't seen it... DO IT! I have to work on Monday, but hopefully it won't be too crazy. Then I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday and it's back to work on Thursday. BUT we get to work from home until January 2nd when we're due back a the office!

You'll notice a big change in my photos this week. I got a hair makeover for one of the websites at work (I'll post the link when the feature is live). I was hoping for an Emma Stone look (like this) but it turned out a little shorter than I was expecting so it's taking a little time to adjust. I'm not fond of short hair on myself but it does look cute when it's curled. The problem is - I don't know how to do it myself! I didn't wash my hair for as long as I could so the original curls would last.  Guess I have a mission over the next few weeks - find an affordable and easy to use curling iron, and learn how to use it. A co-worker told me to get the Beachwaver, and others recommend a curling wand. But those are all a bit expensive so I might end at Target or I'll see if I can get lucky and find something for a great price at Marshalls.

Also, I've been trying out a new fragrance this week thanks to my position as a Harper's Bazaar Style Ambassador!  It's called The One by Dolce & Gabanna and it is available at ShopBazaar.com! It is a Limited Edition fragrance for women in a polished gold bottle with notes of mandarin, lychee, peach, a base of lily, and finished with a touch of warm. It definitely has potential to become one of my signature scents!

* Disclosure: I have received free products from Harper's Bazaar in connection with my affiliation with Harper's Bazaar Style Ambassadors.
Since it's Thursday I decided to do a throwback post of some past Holiday looks! For the past 2 years I've worn my burgundy velvet Theory pants, maybe this year I'll give them a break. As you will also notice, I have a thing for velvet. Definitely one of my favorite fabrics, especially for the holiday season.

Christmas Eve 2011

Even older:
Let's start today off with a story, shall we? Last weekend I had an appointment in Westport, so obviously I headed over to Roundabout Resale afterward. I walked in and turned and my eyes were instantly drawn to a burgundy, patchwork blazer perched on the end of a clothing rack. I grabbed it and looked at the size first, it was my size and was practically brand new (no signs of wear at all)! Next I noticed the label: Etro (their blazers go for $1200+). Instantly I knew I could not walk away without buying the blazer, it was meant to be. I looked at the price and my heart dropped slightly, it was $269, a bit too much for me to spend on one piece.  Then one of the kind women working at the store came over to me to tell me about the promotion going on: buy one item get 10% off, buy two get 20% off and 3 items would get you 30% off! So, naturally I went in search of two more items so I could get the blazer for $188 instead of $269.

Normally Chanel isn't included in their sales, but this time everything but bags would qualify! Sadly most of their Chanel clothes (including a GORGEOUS teal tweed blazer) were $800+ and even at 30% off that's a bit much. BUT I found an adorable pair of black velvet flats that were $275. I have been hunting for an "affordable" pair of Chanel flats for a while and have had my heart set on these, but sadly they are $620 on eBay so I can't justify that, even though they are my two favorite colors.  Finally I found a cute Ralph Lauren top that was $27. The top happened to be 30% off by itself and with the sale it was an additional 30% off. So I got the blazer, flats and top for less than just buying the blazer and flats.

Even on sale these items were a bit of a splurge, but I'm glad I did it. Every time I look at them they make me smile.  The blazer is just so totally me with the burgundy and crazy prints and patchwork. I love that it is asymmetrical too. I always tell myself I'm not going to buy more blazers but then I find an even more perfect one and have to break my promise.

Anywoooo, I wore this outfit that afternoon for lunch with Lydia and Christine at one of my favorite restaurants - The Chowder Pot. We chatted fashion, Christine's marathon running (I wish I were brave enough for those,) boys, etc.  After lunch we stopped at Starbucks for some coffee (and hot chocolate with a straw for me.)
