I wore this outfit almost exactly 6 years ago. Crazy how time flies! Sadly I don't have the pants anymore because the quality just wasn't there (they were from ASOS.) I also got rid of the Missoni for Target flats because they didn't fit quite right. But the general look is still intact! Fortunately I found a bunch of this exact sweater on eBay if you like it! Use the shop widget below the photos!

Banana Republic Sweater:

It is getting so cold out there! I was getting tired of just wearing jeans and sweaters so I decided to switch things up a bit and wear a skirt and blazer.  The skirt and blazer are both velvet, but the blazer is a dark olive green and the skirt is a muted purple. I often forget to wear my blazers because they are in a closet that's not in my room...the perils of having a teeny tiny room!

Top: French Connection c/o Marshalls, Blazer: The Extreme Collection (Second Time Around), Skirt: Chanel (Roundabout Resale), Boots: vintage (eBay), Necklace: Francesca's, Bracelets c/o 31 Bits, Tights: Simply Vera Wang (Kohl's)

I've been trying to experiment more with layering my clothes. So to get more wear out of this peplum top I decided to wear a matching long sleeve top underneath. I also wanted to wear these Cole Haan sandals at least once before it gets too cold for wearing sandals without socks or tights.

Tank: J Cooper (Lord & Taylor, gift), Silk Top: thrifted, Jeans: Michael Kors (Marshalls, gift), Sandals: Cole Haan 'Minetta' (Amazon), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Shopbop), Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Gilt), Bracelets c/o 31 Bits

The floral shorts return! I love these babies, and the weird thing about that is they're white! I never wear white, which you probably don't believe since I posted a white skirt yesterday.  But they are my only white-ish pieces...I don't count them as totally white since they're printed.

I also took a photo showing my lovely DKNY wallet because it never gets any blog love.  As you can see I have a slight ostrich texture obsession.  I am ALWAYS drawn to the ostrich pieces in stores and have to stop myself.

Layla wanted to get in the foreground of some photos...

This past Monday (Memorial Day for those of you with short memories, or non-US citizens) rather than attending a picnic or party I spent the afternoon with Lydia and Christine.  We headed to one of our favorite places, The Chowder Pot for lunch, then took our obligatory outfit photos and finished the day with Frozen Yogurt (after which we decided we should have gotten Rita's Italian Ice or ice cream.)

The girls are always saying I need to wear these purple pants more, so I did it especially for them! The pants also went perfectly with my new Zara top! I'm not usually one to wear white but the print was so cute, look at the birdies! Aaaand I'm wearing my newest purchase, which I alluded to with this Instagram photo on Saturday.

Chocolate and flowers only last a few days, so today I'm highlighting some Valentine’s Day gifts that will leave a lasting impression all year long. Whether it’s jewelry helping employ marginalized women in Ethiopia and India, to shoes providing education to women in Uganda, these eco-friendly, fair-trade and humanitarian brands offer great gifts perfect for that special someone in your life.

Raven + Lily is a socially and environmentally responsible accessories company that uses 100% of their profits from sales to achieve their social cause, which is empowering women through design. This means employing marginalized women with fair trade, sustainable income, launching new partnerships, and funding healthcare and educational needs in their partnership communities.

Sseko Designs (who I have featured on the blog before) uses fashion to provide employment and scholarship opportunities to women pursuing their dreams and overcoming poverty in Uganda. Sseko Designs began as a line of sandals, which consists of a leather sandal base and a wide range of interchangeable straps that can be tied hundreds of ways. They now offer a sandal line, wedding line, clutches and sandal accessories.

Allya Sandal, Saddle Clutch, Accent Tote, Classic Strap Collection

31 Bits (another brand I have featured before) also benefits women in Uganda by helping them rise above poverty.  They offer handmade bracelets and necklaces made from recycled paper.  More recently they have begun to offer a handbag and headbands adorned with the beads.

Westerly Clutch, Sweetheart Bracelet, Razzle Dazzle Necklace, Daphne Bracelets (I wear these ALL the time, old colors though)

*I was asked to write this post on behalf of Raven + Lily and Sseko Designs but was not compensated for doing so.
I added 31 Bits because I also support their mission.
One week until Christmas Eve!!!!!!!! Sorry, had to get that off my chest, ha ha. At this time of year I always find myself wanting to wear more red and green (but those are rare occurrences in my wardrobe consisting of mostly purple, burgundy and jeans, ha ha.  I have been adding some more color over the past few months, though.

Christmas really is a wonderful time of year, but I must make one quick mention of the horrible Newtown, CT school shooting.  It is amazing to think that something like this happened 20 minutes from where I live. I am thankful that I didn't know anyone involved, but my heart breaks for those people who lost friends and loved ones last Friday.

I don't want to end on a sad note, so I'll finish by saying I hope everyone enjoys this time with their families during the Holiday's.  It really is the best time of year, and a time where we should show our love to our families more than ever.

As Summer slowly comes to an end I am getting use out of my Summer pieces before they need to go away for 8 months.  The weather is getting cooler each day and I am getting so excited! I can't wait to break out all my sweaters and jeans! But that is no reason to neglect the lovely weather we're still having, right?

What are you most looking forward to this Fall? I can't wait for all the leaves to change colors, it's so beautiful driving when you're surrounded by burnt oranges, reds and yellows!
