Another Thursday, another throwback! Sadly I don't have the pants from the original anymore. I can't remember why I got rid of them. They must have gotten extra wrinkly. So sad.  I added in the bag because it pulls out the blue in the top really nicely.  Plus it makes the look a little less green.

Top: Winter Kate 'Rune' (Hautelook), Pants: GH Bass (Clinton Crossing), Heels: Guess (Marshalls), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Natural Selection Mini Messenger Bag' (Saks Fifth Avenue)

The original:

This outfit was my attempt at getting out of my style rut. It's still jeans and a cardigan but I tried to mix it up a bit with the distressed boyfriend jeans and oversized sweater plus super tall sandals. Luckily this sweater is thin enough that I can wear it when it's a little on the warm side. It won't be great for full on Summer, but it's great Fall through Spring!

Cardigan: DKNY (Net-a-Porter sale), Tee: Madewell, Jeans: American Eagle, Sandals: Guess (Marshalls), Necklace: Madewell

Since I'm getting back into the groove after my vacation I thought now would be a good time to share some photoshoot extras! I say this every time, but whenever I shoot with Lydia I find myself with tons of photos on the cutting room floor that I wish I could share. So here's my chance!

The long Winter is finally over and we can start wearing skirts and dresses without freezing to death, but, what about our sun-deprived legs that haven't seen the light in months? Many women, myself included, feel self conscious during Spring and the beginning of Summer when our legs are less than tan. Now, thanks to Hanes you can slip the perfect shade of bronze on every morning to make your legs look tan. Who needs all those crazy lotions and dangerous tanning beds when you can just put on a pair of tights?

To help me transition my winter legs into summer, Hanes sent me a pair of their Sunkissed Ultra Sheer tights to style.  The tights come in five shades you can find the perfect match for your skin tone and, for just the right fit, the Sunkissed sheer comes in control top or a smoothing top.  I chose the medium bronze shade for my skin.  The slight shine and sheerness makes them look more like your skin, unlike traditional panty hose which can look fake. See the photo below for a comparison, can't even tell I have tights on, can you?
I will definitely be wearing these in the coming weeks if the weather stays chilly like this, I had been worrying about what I would do for my cousin's wedding the first week of June, but now I know I'll be wearing these! My mom had been toying with the idea of getting a spray tan for her legs, but she went out and got a pair of Hanes for herself.

Silk Reflections Sunkissed Ultra Sheer Tight c/o Hanes Hosiery, Skirt: Alberto Makali (Village Vogue Boutique), Sweater: French Connection  c/o Marshalls, Shoes: Guess (Marshalls), Necklace c/o by boe,

Also, Hanes is offering a pair of tights to two lucky readers, so just enter using the widget below and two winners will be selected in a week!

P.S. The skirt above came with a vest, so I figured I'd show you the outfit with the vest, even though it looks crazy. Ha ha. Would be fun for a themed party though, so I'll hold on to it.

*Disclosure: I received the tights photographed above free for the purpose of this post, but all opinions are my own.
Marshalls is one of my favorite places to shop because I know I will always get a great deal.  I can find my favorite designers - like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and even Equipment - at amazing prices well below retail. Anyone who knows me will be shocked to see this outfit. Why? Because I'm wearing...white jeans. I always said I would never wear them (for fear of getting them dirty/I feel like they're see-through.) I guess this is why they say 'never say never.'  Since Marshalls makes me confident while shopping, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and wear something I was afraid of.  First white jeans, next, who knows! Maybe a date? ;)

While Lydia was taking photos of this outfit I was singing 'I Have Confidence' from The Sound of Music to myself. *I've always longed for adventure, to do the things I've never dared!* Yes, I'm very strange.  Knowing I got these pieces at amazing prices made that a bit easier. Even though no one else knows I'm wearing an Equipment blouse (except other fashionistas) it gives me confidence. Do you ever feel like that? Maybe you're wearing a certain pair of shoes that you got for dirt cheap and that fact puts a bit more spring in your step.  Or is that just me?

Mother Denim 'The Rascal' Crop Jean: $69.99, retail $196
Equipment 'Mina Tie Front' Blouse: $59.99, retail $198
Solitare Top: $16.99, retail around $32
Etienne Aigner Sunglasses: $9.99, retail around $35

Total Spent: $156.96 | Retail: $461 | Savings: $304.04

Also wearing:  Lauren Ralph Lauren sweater (Lord & Taylor), Marc by Marc Jacobs bag  (Saks Friends & Family Sale),  Necklace: Indulgems (Gilt), Guess heels (Marshalls)

I couldn't decide between the Equipment blouse I'm wearing and a second top (which was only $17!) In the end I kept both, everyone should splurge once in a while! So watch out for the second top in a future post. Probably with these jeans.  I could have gotten shoes and a bag in place of the Equipment blouse, but I decided to go for it.

I wore this super comfortable look to go out to dinner with one of my best friends last Friday.  I am going to have to force myself to not wear this Phillip Lim for Target sweater all the time, although not sure why that would be a totally bad thing. I should just give my many other sweaters some time in the spotlight, after-all, I love them too. What drew me to the sweater was the fun jeweled detailing on the collar (obviously.)

Today also happens to be my Mom's birthday! Yayyy! Sadly I won't be able to go home for dinner with the family because I have an event to go to with Marshalls. I'll just have to give her the awesome present I got her tomorrow.

The weather is slowly taking a turn to Fall.  This week was rather chilly for the most part. People were wearing gloves which I thought was a bit extreme, I was still fine walking in my sweater - still no need for Winter coats yet, people!  But I'm excited for the arrival of fall - tights, hot chocolate and sweaters, yay!

Happy Friday!! Who is ready for a long weekend? (well, those of you in the US)  Labor day is upon us which means we're at the unofficial end of Summer.  But never fear, we still have a few weeks until it is officially Fall, still plenty of time to wear all our Summer favorites!

This week was pretty eventful.  Monday and Tuesday were CRAZY at work but both of those days I got some pretty fun news!  On Monday I found out I'm one of the final 25 members of Marshalls Project FAB!  They narrowed down from hundreds (I assume,) to 50 who did posts (see all mine) and then whittled that down to 25. I'm so excited to partner with them over the next year because Marshalls has been one of my favorite stores for as long as I can remember.  The other thing was something more private related to a person I run a fan site for.  Many of you can probably guess, but I'm not going to say who or what. ;)

Monday: Tee: Everlane, Pants: Maison Scotch c/o Aritzia, Sandals: Seychelles (DSW), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage & Mom's

Tuesday: Limited Edition Hogwarts Crest Tee (very old), Skirt: Mother Denim c/o Marshalls, Heels: Simply Vera by Vera Wang (Kohl's), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage & Mom's

Wednesday: Tee: Everlane, Skirt: Vince Camuto  (Lord & Taylor), Heels: Guess (Marshalls), Necklaces: Vanessa Mooney and Geoclassics, Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage & Mom's

Thursday: Dress: Jason Wu for Target, Heels: Marc by Marc Jacobs (Net-a-Porter gift card), Watch: Skagen (Rue La La), Rings: vintage & Mom's
I'm so excited to be one of the chosen members of Marshalls' Project FAB program! I, along with about fifty other members, will be sharing fab finds from Marshalls.  As most of you know, a large portion of my wardrobe has come from Marshall's (and TJ Maxx.)  It is definitely one of my favorite stores because you can get great designer pieces at far less than retail; I can definitely get behind that!  I've been shopping there since I was young because it's one of my mother's favorite places. You will rarely find us at a mall - too expensive, crowded, etc.  Marshalls on the other hand always has amazing pieces at even better prices!

Last week on my day off I headed to the Marshalls near my dentist's office because I know they have great pieces there (and was going to the dentist anyway, two birds, right?)  I tried on so many things and I actually left the register at one point to go back for something.  I ended up with the following:
  • Michael Kors dress - retailed for $150??, I paid $20
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs Glimmer Finch Tee - retailed for $138, I paid $60
  • Mother Front Slit Denim Skirt - retailed for $178, I paid $25
Here's the first of, what I hope will be, many posts featuring my fabulous finds! For this look I decided to go a bit further into Marshall's territory and only wear other pieces I bought at Marshalls over the years (except my accessories)!
